Rowley stealing the “Zoo Wee Mama!” comic from Greg is one of the strangest and worst character changes I’ve ever seen. Rowley is routinely shown to be a likable character in the books and even the Live Action movies, so why make him *Steal* something in this adaptation?
In the book they thought of it together.

I feel that it isn’t wrong for Greg getting mad at Rowley. I would’ve done the same and went to the teacher. Also can we talk about the fact that Rowley straight up asks Greg if he can have his video game back so he can play it with his cool new friend. What a jerk

It’s honestly really difficult to believe the author himself wrote this movie. Very few times does an author writing a movie truly work. I mean look at JK Rowling and the fantastic beasts movies. The only time I can think an author successfully wrote a good movie was Jurassic Park

I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice the switched roles for Greg and Rowley since it was off for Rowley to do something like that.
Well, I saw it as Rowley FINALLY realizing that Greg is never going to be a good friend, since Greg was using him, so Rowley decided to use HIM and his comics to win popularity points at school. Though, I DO still think it was out of character, since, as he himself says, "Joshie says a lie hurts everyone."
@@PsychoticWonders0725 You do got to remember that this is a different universe where Greg haven't even done much to Rowley and Rowley literally lets his goons punch and push Greg, steals his comic without permission, and literally ditching him all for yelling at him and breaking his arm with some concern. Despite Rowley getting Greg into trouble without really being aware of it, all Greg did was tell him to stop but still helping him in middle school. Greg saves Rowley from being hit in the face by a football on the first day, didn't tell his parents about the truth since he knew Rowley would be in a whole lot of trouble for lying, guiding him in middle school, protecting him after Greg mentions about the cheese, and destroying his reputation after telling everyone that he ate the cheese.
Not just the main characters. It felt like everyone in the movie is a psycho. Like nearly everyone at the school bullies Greg, and the three teenagers chase Greg and Rowley with a pick up truck because... they like bullying? I know bullying exists irl but it's generally nowhere near this bad
Greg is a narcissistic sociopath
The sexy girls in the movie are clearly psychotic to Greg when they throw food at him for breaking Rowley’s arm, and pushing him off the seat and kicks his food to the floor.

Even in the book, it was strange how the teenagers actually recognized Greg and Rowley from months earlier and decided to take revenge by forcing them to ingest spoiled food. I mean, didn't they already get revenge by TP'ing Rowley's Grandma's house? Those boys were psychos.

Rodrick was always the only really likeable one for me in the animated/live action adaptations, everyone else went around the line of "Meh" to "Please just rewrite him/her"
One thing that is pretty confusing in this movie is how manny snitched on Greg and Rowley by saying they went on snake road but manny was literally sleeping the entire time that they were on snake road

I feel like Greg was much less of a socio/psychopath in the movie instead of the books,he actually HAD EMOTIONS in this.Guess that happens when Disney try’s to introduce a ‘bad person’ into one of there kids movie’s.
Yeah. I mean, the whole point of Greg is that he is an unlikable character. His personality is thinking highlyof himself. He is controlling over his "friend." But in this movie, Greg being likeable doesn't work for me because the joy of the original movies was watching Greg being a terrible person, and get consequences that feel satisfying. And when Greg does have something good happen to him, like at the end of Dog Days where he gets with Holly, it feels earned. But in the movie, I don't feel like his personality was changed enough to justify it when the movie wants us to feel bad for him. Sure, it was messed up for Rowley to steal his comic, but the reason Greg dropped it was that he thought that a comic strip needed to be funnier than that, and that people would be into more "sophisticated" humor, despite what the school shows him, with people laughing at even the slightest act of dumbness. Plus, he used words like "moron", and "cretin" in "Creighton the Cretin", which he should know wouldn't be accepted at school, which is why Rowley's wasn't changed.

dumbest thing ive ever read. zachary gordon and the rest of the cast are like 21 now, theres no way they could voice 12 year olds. the only accurate voice actor from the original movies would be devon.

Quick explainer on the wet candy problem:
M&Ms actually have partially paper wrappers (as well as similar candies), so when they get wet it is an actual problem. So just saying: make sure not to get your candy wet

I don’t even know what to think about this movie. It’s like some weird fever dream. I always think I’m imagining it since it’s such a bad mix between the books and movies.
I know where they were going for but making 2D centric character designs into 3D models look wrong and cursed as hell

Sometimes books don’t perfectly translate to the big screen
It’s all about proper execution by being able to decide what parts can be taken out and what needs to stay as well as having a good reason to change certain aspects of the story. Look at the first 2 Harry Potter movies for example. IMO the first 2 movies are actually better than the books. However, movies 4-8 didn’t exactly do the best when trying to decide how the books should be adapted especially 4-6.

I like Frank of the Disney+ movie, he seems pretty to-the-book.
I actually loved the animation style. Sure it’s possible there were budget cuts, but I loved the animation and style.
Animation: 8/10. Make it like the peanuts and captain underpantas movie and have the backgrounds feel like doawk background. And add background characters outside and qdd animals to make the world feel lived in.
Plot: 4/10. Should copy the first movie. And do the same for the second one.
Characters: 8/10 the characters are good but needs work make 5he personality like the live action movies 1-3.
