LDG - FTL Meter for Yaesu FT-897 & FT-857

This is the the larger meter for the Yaesu 897D and the 857D. It uses a propriatary cable that connects to the underside of the radio and the display can show info depending on how you set your menu up in the radio. Works well and I show you a couple of mods

There's a cheap Chinese clone of this meter, on the meter is printed FT857 & FT 897. The LDG brand name is absent, there is no jack for either backlighting power or separate meter functions. the supplied cable is hardwired and does not have the 90 degree connector to flush mount under the radios faceplate edge.
The clear meter faceplate has a squared grid lens near the bottom instead of a completely clear lens, the original has the half inch or so of cabinet below the meter, where the clone meter lens comes all the way down to the lower edge.

Thanks for sharing this video. Unfortunately, I'm one of the many operators who get these units where the lights are DOA. Wasn't sure if there was a fuse in there or whether I should get them to make it right. I hear we have to pay for shipping back to LDG even if it's DOA. So much for quality control!

I have the small unit and the blue lights make it very hard to see. Going to see if LDG makes white and are they easy to replace.
