@Free-pd9mb honestly Toronto sounds like a fucking killer place to live. I've always liked naturey places. Northern Minnesota, Northern Michigan, Southern Ontario, etc. I've always wanted to move somewhere in those areas
Gordie is a great respected musician and he knows how to deliver a powerful performance! I felt honoured to see the representation of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy on his double neck guitar.
Respect to Johnson on “O Canada”. Reminds me of the recording of Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock, playing “Star-Spangled Banner”. I would love to see this guy live
Loved it! :D And anyone who hated it should just grab their double neck air guitar and go play Oh Canada at the nearest dump in front of a pack of rabid raccoons because you certainly wouldn't have the talent and the balls to do what Gordie did at the Air Canada Centre! :P
TheRockefailures We don't care about the double deck he only uses one and he is completely out of tune almost half of the time... poor interpretation, fine if you like it but you might be deaf.
An awesome arrangement but a wee bit too fuzzy and sloppy even for Gordie. Some raunch and noise is great as with most of his playing, but I understand why many are not impressed with this performance. Would have been cooler with a pick and slide IMO! Thanks for posting! I heard comments about it on radio and glad I could hear it for myself. Its way better than I expected.
Sounds to me like this year they robbed Gordy of the necessary gain to get the kind of sustain he needed.. hockey rinks aren't generally known for their sound system and acoustical superiority
That was cool. Thick bassy sound like a gibson usually gives. I think more people would be feeling it if it was tuned though. Still, It must of sounded great in a stadium!
😂 Why is this man using this double neck guitar when he only wants to play the 6 string? It seems like it's just getting in his way when a nice 6 string with a floyd rose tremolo would be ideal for what he's trying to do... although keeping his bends in tune would be a little harder.
The anthem was a perfect reflection of the 2014-2015 Maple Leafs season. I would also compare this to "Rosanne Singing the National Anthem". No wonder the Maple Leafs are the laughing stock of the NHL.
Nah, that was pretty bad. It's an easy song and he must have been improvising for it to have had so many issues with pitch and excess noise. I assume the recording quality isn't helping him any, but it's still just poor playing. I know a lot of people will love the novelty idea that he is "shredding" the song, but I think most serious musicians know he isn't shredding as much as butchering.
Saw big sugar open up for AC/DC in Moncton last year, gordie played this at the last song of his set. Quite an awesome experience
Masterstarman that was a good show ma dude
That was fucking gnarly dude.
Glorious, thx for keeping this👍🏼🏆❤️‼️
Love tf out of this!
Amazing and so powerful!
Happy Canada Day 2023!!
God when I’m older I wanna move to Canada so badly :(
....and Gordie Johnson decided to live in Texas 🤣
You can come and stay with me. I'm in Toronto

Need more of this.
I bet all the Toronto and Montreal Fans were blown away
However this was still sloppy bruh

Man who knows what gear this dude is using that setup sound like fucking hell!!!!
samuel mollen-dupuis I don't know the amp but it runs through a Garnet Herzog. Best overdrive on the planet.
merci du tuyau!
lebonnetdespatriotes.net The amp looks like a 4x10 Roland jazz chorus
Gives me the bed time sillies!
Killing time nice guitar wizard

More cheers on the anthem then any other time during that game... nice...

Bob Cole certainly liked it!
Let’s go habs
Clearly going for a very Hendrix-esque style performance of the anthem, there. Close your eyes and you'd swear it was Jimi.
LMAO
Nope.
No that's pure Gordie LMAO
Sorry, but that was a great performance!! Keep it rockin'!!
How ORIGINAL !!!! LOL
It's an interpretation of the anthem. It's supposed to grungy and bluesy! If it's not one's taste that's fine but it isn't being played wrong!
Correct- if he was going for that Curt Kobain in heroin sound- Noisey and with pitch issues.
@@notsure7404 what’re u talking about? This sounds nothing like nirvana lol
Eh, sounds more like Hendrix 🤷♂️

this is great but it doesn't hit you like the star spangled banner
Tf u on about? This is amazing:)
@@nintony2994 never said it wasn't.

"Amazing", I will take my Canada flag off the wall & wave it around the neighborhood like a crazy person for this hockey game.

Way my to muddy
To much sustain
Guitar is outta tune lol 😂
This sounded very painful he could have done better 😕
@Ari Parker right? 🤣
@Ari Parker I couldn't really put my finger on Hendrix until you pointed it out lol
Lame... hendrix version wish.
am i the only person that think that sounded awful?!! haha ..
Pretty much

@@notsure7404 you're obviously a goof with the comments you've making and have no idea who this guy is and the respect he has by musicians everywhere
Horrendous
that sounded so disgraceful
Must not jimi then
