- This is a tutorial on how to fly a Procedural ILS approach using the G1000 NXi Cessna 172 G1000 in Microsoft Flight Simulator (FS2020).
The video includes a Hold in Lieu of Procedure Turn which allows you to reverse course into the localiser by flying the relevant hold entry and then incercepting the final approach.
The approach used in this tutorial is the ILS Runway 10L into Fort Lauderdale (KFLL)
Hold Entry Procedure video: • Holding Pattern Entry ...
Real world weather used giving a crosswind on the approach

Thumbs up. I am an instrument student in checkride prep. 2 weeks out. Your videos are the most professional & extremely helpful. This deserves more than 900 views
Thanks! Good luck on your checkride!!
You are absolutely correct with what you said about MSFS compared to the real thing.
It's frustrating, zero crab in the flare, followed by a massive swerve after touchdown!
@@Taylair I hear you.
Thank you Taylair for sharing your knowledge - great video, much appreciated.
Thanks for watching... I'll keep them coming!
Another eye-opener from the most criminally undersubscribed MSFS YT channel. I don't think there is a single other video on flying an ILS that doesn't involve 'press APR... and relax'. I really appreciate this kind of rare content, and also the no-BS intro and lack of needy pleaselikeandsubscribe.
You can probably tell by now that I'm not into the cringey youtuber nonsense! That's probably why the subscribers don't flood in, but I have to say, the people that have subscribed so far and sent comments are usually asking pretty good and intelligent questions so I think I'm getting through to the people that I'm targeting, and if there's only 700 of them, I'm ok with that!
Excellent video. Thanks
Another great informative training video! Keep them coming.
Will do!
Thanks for another great video Mr Taylair! As someone just about to start studying for my ATPL(H) exams, your level of knowledge is both inspiring and frightening! 😂…. I was wondering if there is a way to integrate those approach plates and even a realistic VFR chart into MSFS? The built in VFR map is nothing short of useless.
As soon as you finish those exams, you'll be much more knowledgeable than me, I have forgotten most of that stuff! I think Navigraph have made their product compatible with FS2020 now, I haven't tried it out though, but may be worth a look.
