wanted to say thanks for taking the time to make this video. While I've done soldering work before, working with 'lead free' solder is quite difficult - I had my little hobby iron turned up to 450F and it was barely making any melting action on the original solder on the switches Logitech put on there. It was pretty mentally exhausting for almost 40 year old me to be staring down at this tiny area, illuminated by a desk lamp, waiting for solder to melt as I held the iron on it. I was almost sure I had destroyed the 'pads' on the circuit board just from too much slow heat, like how you might ruin a food if you microwave it slowly for hours instead of baking it at a higher heat. But no, in the end, three days later now, my G602 is like a new mouse, at 8 years old. I'm glad I bought an 8-pack of Japanese Omron switches. I'm hoping that I can keep the G602 going for many more years to come, none of the current ones on the market look quite as good as the G602 in the ways that matter, personally, to me. Cheers again.
Thanks a bunch, I managed to fix my mouse thanks to your instructions (and save the world at the same time, yay). 5yrs old and still going strong, love my G602. Also, your humor is most entertaining good sir, +1 from me.
Great video, I successfully fixed mine. Already bought a replacement and got used to it though, so not sure I"ll really go back to this. Much more comfortable than the new one, but the light mouse thing.... I get it now. Never made sense to me before, I liked the heft. But not sure I can go back now. Goddamn claw grip though, hurts my hand.
Thanks for this helpful Video. In my case it was enough to open the mouse and clean it a bit. After reassembling it was all fine. My advice: test the switch after removing the top of the mouse. Maybe there is no need for replacing it.
After learning that there was a major defect with the G602 mouse causing it to double click, I went back and tried to contact customer service. This has been one of the worst customer service experience I have ever gone through! The first representative sent me to an empty line where I waited for 30 minutes just to hit a voice mail (the voice mail never got back to me). I called back and got a different representative, who went through the testing phase to determine whether it was my computer. After going through all of these steps, the Customer service representative had me fill out a form, and told me they would review and likely replace the product rather than attempting to repair it like so many Sony products would do. At this point I thought I had actually arrived at a good position, but I kept receiving E-mails asking me to provide videos with different lengths of the mouse not working. Eventually I figured out a good compression app for videos, and sent them a video of me clicking 100 times. After all of this, wasting hours on the phone and proving that indeed my mouse had this common defect, as well as linking this video to them, I got a response that said they couldn't replace the product because it was out of their warranty. I had given them the serial number, which is what they used to deny my claim, at the very start of this process. To make it all even worse, they tried to offer me a 30% off coupon, as if owning a defective product would make me want to buy a new one! It's not even a very good coupon considering the original product purchased was defective! I do not plan on purchasing another Logitech mouse, and am frankly disgusted.
I solved the issue just by cleaning gunk under the tiny clench-thingy that makes the contact with the yellowish metal lamela inside the switch. I daresay this is the actuall problem for most of the people. The residue shortens the distance between the said, and possibly short-circuits the contact, thus issuing double-clicks. If it's hard for you to figure out how to uncover the switch, look at the right mouse button switch. It's "in the open" you can study it from all sides easily. There are tiny horizontal and vertical crevices. Choose the vertical crevice at the back of the switch (towards the back of the mouse), insert a thin blade inside, push slightly to the side (i.e. towards the back of the mouse again) and pull up carefully. The whole switch cover will just pop up easily.
Actually they don't make them better than this. I've been looking for a better mouse and the MX master is not better. It's made for a different purpose. Both are good mice but I need the buttons on the left hand side and the 602 beats all wired and wireless mice or it's designed purpose.
Exactly my thought when I had problem with it. First mouse had middle click button. My game use middle click button to move the camera angle, so probably explained. Luckily who would had thought it even have 2 years warranty and mine was used around 1 years 10 months? Best part, I still have all the receipt. To my second mouse and 2 years since? Maybe more, can't really remember and now I have middle click button and double left click. Looked around for another wireless mouse option but there wasn't any out there which have the extra button that are conveniently and intuitively located while maintaining good ergonomic(for my hand). Let's hope the mouse can survive this ordeal after me getting the replacement part lol
Maybe you would prefer a 'Num Pad' on your mouse but definitely not me or some other user I believe. Economically, it's 2x the price of G602. Not sure about the lifespan but logitech last good 2 years at least. Rechargeable batteries with dock? I would prefer to bring my own AA batteries. Maybe you have not face problem arising with those rechargeable batteries and probably cost a leg and an arm changing it too. Not so economic if you ask me.
Thanks for the video, unfortunately I managed to burn the PCB or something and the new switch wont work, no luck. I have 3 spare buttons if someone wants them
I try do this but unfortunately I ruined my mouse. I had a problem with soldering a new switch, these 3 places were dirty and I did not want to solder a new switch, probably one of the places I burned too much... I have to buy new one.
Thanks to your video, I was able to replace the button with a new one, but unfortunately my scroll wheel stops working. I tried to clean the optical sensor and the wheel itself, but still not working. Any idea how to fix it?
Dude =]] i wish i look for this video before i do my own replace on mouse switch, nice video btw. =]]] you was having problem just likle me when trying 1st time soldering =]] after all i successful take the switch out but not really 1 of the feet stick back and i have to take it out using force =]] pretty nice replacement after all and no big damage done to the mouse is a bless :P You are right, i bring it to shop and pay for them replace it for me :P cost way more than you buy these switch and do it yourself :P Just do it and you will learn as least something, the worst case is damaging the PCP :P
I opened mine up, and sprayed electronic contact cleaner on the mouse button, waited a few hours for it to dry, and now it works perfectly again. A nearly $100 mouse shouldn't be doing this.. I have $10 mice that have worked flawlessly for twice as long, in fact I had to use it until I fixed by G602. May still need to order new glider pads.
It's so tiring all these channels that take everything apart and just wanna solder for fun it's crazy. If you pull up the left button a bit, and you blow air in it, it solves the problem
Don't buy those Chinese Omron D2FC switches. The Japanese made Omron D2F switches are MUCH better. They cost more, but are definitely worth it. Check out the page at geekhack (dot) org/index.php?topic=81743.0 There is a link there to a page (Korean) that has good pictures of the mechanisms.
Very poor language. Trying to be engaging. But you sound drunk and ranting. Not vaguely entertaining. But decent video quality and instructive. Too slow to get to the point. Your narration is distracting.
Mine develop double click after month of usage... blowing helped for few hours/days but in the end i changed switches (mb1/mb2) and used from old mouse i have laying around. Problem is fixed, everything work perfect. I'm 90% that only couse to this kind of problems is joke quality chinese omron d2fc-f-7n(20M). Just forget all tips and replace damn switches if u wana enjoy with this (probably other?) mouse. Logitech was once premium, today they are cheap chinese crap.

Thanks for this video! I replaced my switch successfully right now based on your video! 👍👍👍

they used to be really good and will send out replacement after simple checks (on warranty and such.)

Thank you very much, i could repair my logitech g602, with this video, its not easy but its already fixed. thank you again.
that made no sense
Why do I think this video deserves a Like is beyonnd concious understanding.
I came to fix my mouse - almost left when u started sautering - stayed for the impressions and personality.
"if it ain't broke. fix it until it's broke!" pure genius

no it does not . even razer nagas are better design than it. stupid ass thin shaped button right next to each other ... smh

Fixed mine Thannks!!!! it was dead to me for 1 year plus!!!
Top tip learned from this video: If you don't know what you're doing, do it anyway. You'll learn something.
Great, thank you very much.
Congratulations for your video.
Yves
This video is from an absolute savage :3
Please, next time put a bit of solder on unsoldering pins. It will make you work a lot easier.
Thanks to your video, I was able to replace the button with a new one, but unfortunately my scroll wheel stops working. I tried to clean the optical sensor and the wheel itself, but still not working. Any idea how to fix it?
No brother never replaced that but pretty sure you can find a fix on CZcams somewhere
Thanks m8 for the link for the switches!
Dude =]] i wish i look for this video before i do my own replace on mouse switch, nice video btw.
=]]] you was having problem just likle me when trying 1st time soldering =]]
after all i successful take the switch out but not really 1 of the feet stick back and i have to take it out using force =]]
pretty nice replacement after all and no big damage done to the mouse is a bless :P
You are right, i bring it to shop and pay for them replace it for me :P cost way more than you buy these switch and do it yourself :P Just do it and you will learn as least something, the worst case is damaging the PCP :P
I tried fixing mine but that little metal piece became to pliable and it fucked it up.
After I did this, the mouse cursor jumps very imprecisely because the sliding pads are no longer as tight as before.
What the button part number please? Looking to do this after 9 years lol.
What was the part number for the switch? Link doesnt work
I used the method at 9:03 and it ripped the copper sleeves out with the switch... I think this board might be screwed now
I opened mine up, and sprayed electronic contact cleaner on the mouse button, waited a few hours for it to dry, and now it works perfectly again. A nearly $100 mouse shouldn't be doing this.. @12:40 Clevaland sounds better at 1.5 speed 😆
It's so tiring all these channels that take everything apart and just wanna solder for fun it's crazy. If you pull up the left button a bit, and you blow air in it, it solves the problem
How were you able to remove the screws so easily?! I've just ended up ruining 3 of the crews while trying to do this.
Please get a specialised screw driver set to open them, they can't be opened with a normal sized one.
bought this a few months ago and it just stopped working. The Blue light on the top just keeps flashing.
Can anyone tell me what is the value of C34 the antenna line small smd capacitor ?
Chill fly
