Can I beat Pokémon Brilliant Diamond using Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules after banning half the Pokémon in the Pokédex?
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch the first eligible encounter per Route
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode
Eligible Encounters: Machamp, Lopunny, Hippowdon, Drifblim, Pachirisu, Mr. Mime, Abomasnow, Rampardos, Unown, Toxicroak, Honchkrow, Chimecho, Kricketune, Golem, Golduck, Ambipom, Wormadam/Mothim, Beautifly/Dustox, Skuntank, Pelipper, Seaking, Whiscash, Sudowoodo, Chatot, Vespiquen, Cherrim, Lumineon, Noctowl, Carnivine, Octillery, Mantine, Raichu, Girafarig

Normal/Psychic being a fantastic typing since it’s only weak to Bug and Dark, decent overall stats, fantastic movepool on both the physical and special sides (Earthquake, Psychic, Thunderbolt, Shadow ball, Crunch, Headbutt, etc). It’s actually quite slept on in games where it’s usable, since it’s almost always one of the best ones due to how early you can find it in the games"

I’ve used girafarig before, it just struggles because the stats are plain bad. It’s highest stat is 90 special attack, which isn’t very good

@@boxofturtles761 I'm hoping Wyrdeer has pretty good stats. It gets the normal psychic type, and might keep Stantler's intimidate. I think if the stats are good enough, Wyrdeer might have a place in competitive play.

Having lurked most of the streams, I'm surprised just how well you did with the limited pool of mons you had to work with. Honestly, keep up the gimmick, I think it would be really fun to see in ORAS, HGSS, and FRLG!

I'm not that surprised, I like to use underlooked Pokemon and while they're definitely weaker than Garchomp or Gyarados, they're good enough to do the job. For example, I swept Cynthia with just a Wormadam trash :p

I'm using girafarig for my nuzlocke and between its speed and movepool coverage it's been a beast
Catching a girafarig in the safari zone in my sapphire nuzlocke saved the run after I had a pretty rough start.
Update, just lost my girafarig right before the 8th gym
Mars' purrugly eating its berry then stealing yours is far too perfect to be anything but on purpose.
I like how these mons utilize all four weather conditions, three of them as an ability
A Snaplocke of X and Y could be fun. Those games are pretty easy, so this kind of challenge could be a good way to make it harder.
if you ever want a fun casual challenge try beating XY without catching a pokemon! its one of the most fun and spontaneous things I've ever done in a pokemon game. you get a gen 6 starter, a gen 1 starter, a fossil, a lapras, and a lucario :)

Just use Serena/Calem's team starting off with Meowstic every fight

the friendship thing is annoying but makes sense in a nuzlocke, the whole point of naming your mons is that you get attached to them which makes it hurt more if they die
I get where you’re coming from, but having the effects of a focus band, bright powder, and razor claw at all times in addition to your held item is beyond excessive. The worst part however is that affection doesn’t even take that long to build up considering that you can probably max out the stat in like 20 minutes if you really wanted to.

Maybe for a future run you could do B/W but only with Pokemon N uses? Encounters would be Purrloin, Pidove, Timburr, Tympole, Sandile, Scraggy, Darumaka, Sigilyph, Boldore, Ferroseed, Joltik, Klinklang plus both fossils, vanilluxe and zoroark. For an extra challenge, you could restrict evolutions to what N uses eg. cannot use a Liepard since he only uses a Purrloin. The nice variety of mons could make for a really interesting and hopefully challenging run! Regardless of what you hope to do next, love the content and I wish good luck on future runs!
N only uses wild pokemon found in the nearby area, including their levels, except for his final fight, so I think just taking his final team would be a bit more fair, but a Challenge where you have to completely change your team before each gym and use fresh pokémon from the wild is cooler.

I really like these 1 hour long vids. Most ppl make shorter ones cuz who has time to watch them in one go but Pokemon offers so many good breakpoints to pick up the video again. Great vid keep it up
seeing 3 weather setters on that e4 team made me realize that there were too many good mons in the bdsp dex to ban all of them. I mean, HIPPOWDON? PELIPPER? Those are solid pokemon!

Diamond and Pearl Flint is exactly what I wish every elite 4 member was like. Themed around a type, but not exclusively. Not since dragon master lance's aerodactyl, charizard and gyarados has there been an elite 4 member with a theme rather than a type

Edit: Reading my comment it sounds really bitter. So let's balance. This game has pretty good things. Underground and better movesets for bosses. Ilca did a nice job for their... Was it first time? And if they listen to the feedback I would even trust them for the gen 5 remakes. Legend Arceus is next, those empty fields seem fun to run on, so let's see.

Hey Flygon! I love your videos for a variety of reasons, but one of the biggest is that they inspired me to run challenge runs myself! That being said, I have an idea for a difficult nuzlocke. That being grass-type only Platinum run. You get 7 Pokémon, and with most of them being slower with some bulk, it’s hard to sweep and you have to do a lot of strategizing. It’s fun, but difficult even under non-nuzlocke rules, so I think it’d make for an entertaining run. Thanks for everything man!

Doing a relatively blind nuzlocke has been fun. The pokemon encounters are the same, but pokemon surprise me with their new movesets. Also, not having the level rule while also not knowing the gym leaders' levels creates a sense of tension before battles.
Haven’t watched the full thing yet but can’t wait for you to hopefully use the giraffe

I would love to see a reverse snaplocke! Where you go back through Shining Pearl using only the Pokémon that got snapped. I know some of them are strong but I personally love any of your nuzlockes and would love to see what a fully realized FlygonHG team would look like

Hey Flygon, idea for a nuzlocke: any game, only use Pokémon weak to the next gym leader/first e4
A heads up for the next time you do a DBSP run, some evolution stones can be found in the underground without mining, you can get the dusk stone before fighting the 3rd gym because of this, I only know this because I used a honchkrow myself :)

Hey FlygonHG! Love your videos, you inspired me to attempt more difficult nuzlockes :) have you ever considered doing a run using only Pokemon with one type? For example I'm trying this in Emerald right now and after Wynona my team is Grovyle, Hariyama, Swalot, Sandslash, Wailmer and Manectric - no dual types in sight. I haven't seen any runs like this on CZcams so I think it might be something you'd enjoy. I'm here for whatever kind of videos you want to do though, keep up with the great content man!
