20 Differences Between Captain America and Red Guardian

- The greatest sign of success is when you find out there are a lot of imitators out there trying to be you. Not only did the success of Project Rebirth in turning scrawny Steve Rogers into the guy we affectionately call ‘Cap’ lead to his own country trying to recreate that success, but a lot of other countries wanting their own symbol and super-soldier. During the Cold War, the Soviets created their own counterpart to the Cap and gave him the moniker of Soviet super-soldier. Who died. So they recruited another one. Who also died. But they just kept at it. Like with the attempts to replicate the super-soldier serum, the attempts to replicate Cap magic were met with mixed results and some unintended consequences. Most importantly, though, they missed the mark in some key attributes that make the Russian version of the hero. Some differences were baked in and reflect the differing philosophy of the people in charge and some of them are just proof that what Professor Eskine said about power and who has it and who respects it is an important part of The Cap formula. Like most foes who take on the role of being the hero’s opposite, it’s in the similarities that you can sometimes see the biggest differences. Here are some of those. I never imagined that this Alexi will turn out to be Red Guardian also a supersoilder but when he lifts the trailer, I got suspicious. Alexei Red Guardian was Natasha's husband but here they entirely changed his arc.
I really wish we saw more of how strong the red guardian was. It felt a bit watered down considering how much we saw of Bucky and Rogers being super soldiers

It's still possible, remember Cap was not on ice in the time line, they just thought he was. Who knows if he fought in the back ground and they crossed paths. Shield and Peggy Carter were together and who knows, Cap was always after super soldiers

Winter Soldier also had the super solider serum too. Man-Thing was created by the same serum too,in the MCU. That goes to show that it does different things based the individuals that it is used on,but enhanced meta-human traits seems to be the one common guarantee.
I think Natasha had some sort of super soldier serum too. But since she was female, it didn’t really give her super strength comparable to captain America, only slightly more than an average human.
Alexei is a super soldier in the mcu. Would love some backstory on him, maybe an R rated type comedy.

Its funny you say its almost like Steve Rogers has been working for Hydra all along because there is an entire branch of Comics where Steve was killed and Hydra created a clone to take his place. It's an interesting read.. Highly recommended

Would it have been awesome if we saw the two of them together in the MCU or Red Guardian appearing in the Falcon and Winter Soldier TV show?
I thought it was odd how at any time Red Guardian could have easily broken out of that prison but never did. I suppose he would have had nowhere to go and since he’s not bulletproof would have gotten shot. Cap isn’t bulletproof either, he’s just really good at blocking bullets with his shield.

Two of the greatest Marvel characters that came out of Russia is the Black Widow and Colossus from X-Men. Nothing against the Red Guardian but he just seems like a regular guy with some anger issues just saying.

One of the theories is that the real supersoldier Serum was actually the Wakadan flower that give black panther his power . So Steve Rogers may be the only Non-Wakadan that have the favour of their goddess bath.

Cap has the pure version of the serum with the vita rays, noone else has that.....so his has the ability to take him beyond what others can..they seriously underpowered him in the MCU. Cap has faith, dedication, loyalty and a code which set his ideals high for himself more than he envisioned for others..he led by example

Could it be possible that The Red Guardian was talking about Isaiah Bradley in the 80's? Especially considering Ursa mentioned that he was wrong in saying it was Steve. I know Bradley did jail time too after Vietnam, but its difficult to place it all.
When captain America throws his mighty shield all those who dare to oppose it must yield but unless you’re a plane or a bomb or some ice or a brainwashed buddy or a Spiderman or Tony Stark or a version of yourself or just plain Thanos or the Dora milaje then you don’t necessarily have to yield

Captain America became the 1st avenger in comics and the MCU. Red Guardian was a soldier for the Soviet Union.
Both fought for their respective countries.

The closest to Captain America is Bradley ( the Black Captain America) the serum Bradley took gave him similar abilities but not identical
I haven't seen the black widow movie yet and I understand America doesn't want the Russians to show us up. But it would have been interesting if they choose a younger fit version of the red guardian that somewhat resembles Chris evens and have them duke it out for the countries for entertainment purposes, kinda like Hulk Hogan vs I forgot the Russian dude name lol.

We actually do not technically know that yet. For All we know, one day Red Guardian just shows up, pockets Mjolnir and leaves with a magic hammer capable of summoning bolts of lightning and tempests.

Red Guardian in his original appearance in the Avengers was honorable and heroic. He was equal to Cap. He supposedly died. When he was written back to life in comics, writers made him into a different man who was much more of a bad guy(nowhere an equal to Cap). Since then Red Guardian has really only appeared in Black Widow comics stories where he has been treated horribly. In the movie, Red Guardian is a father to Black Widow and was married to someone else. In the movie, he is basically comic relief, not good for much. He is easily beaten by Taskmaster. By the way, please explain how the Red Guardian is able to get tattoos and get fat in a Siberian prison?
