I have a question. I am working on a lake house that is elevated about 10 ft. There is also a 2nd story. So the house is essentially 3 stories. There are currently wooden baton "storm" shutters on the house now. Or rather there are still a majority after Hurricane Ida removed a few and loosened several others. Those are simple enough to rebuild/repair and strengthen to handle at least one more storm season. However, the owner asked about Bahama Style shutters. Our main concern is that they seem to be only able to be opened/closed from the outside. We would like to know if it is possible to operate these shutters the same manner as the current shutters are operated, which is to open the window and close/secure them or open/secure them from the inside of the house. They are an older couple and don't even want to use a ladder, let alone even own a 30 ft ladder.

You can definitely operate Bahama shutters from the inside. The tube can be removed by taking out the pin and the feet join up and are held in place with the pin that you took out.
The key is installing the stays with the intention of closing them in the future.

@@southerncraftedshutters Thanks for the response. I watched the installation video, but still don't quite get what you're saying.

What are the shutters made of? Do you paint them in custom colors? What price point am I looking at?

Hi! Our Bahama shutters are made from aluminum, they can be painted with any Sherwin Williams color or color matched with a chip, or you can choose powdercoat! As for the pricing, it depends on the style and size that you choose. Everything is built custom. Do you ship or would this be astronomically expensive? Not sure if I need to only be shopping locally.

We ship all over the continental US. The cost of shipping depends on size/weight of shutters/crate and location. Everything we do is custom, made to order... including our crates. facebook.com/southerncraftedshutters/photos/994447128166107

What is the function of Bahama window shutters.? I see it does not replace the window glass in some pictures. What are the benefits?

Thanks for asking! There are a lot of reasons people choose Bahama shutters. Privacy, protection from the elements, style and more. Some are designed to close over a window - others are designed to stay in the open position. For example, many people choose to use them like an awning - adding some architectural interest while also providing a little extra shade. Others put them up on their porches so they can enjoy hanging out on their porch without feeling like they are on display for their neighbors. Does this help?

@@southerncraftedshutters that does. I am seeing these for the first time and I didn't understand why the addition of outside shutter but I get the more shade and more privacy. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions

@@bobbybrown6646 sorry. The look will be similar. Since we usually don’t go inside when we install, we don’t have a lot of inside pictures. We have a lot of porch examples because we can get them without going inside and we have that kitchen one we shared. The video shows you the visibility you will have depending on the angle you use.
