@@samuelcamarillo1349 came after ‘Soul Mining’ with themes later expressed on ‘Infected’ which was a much grittier, and aggressive sounding album - “Heartland” didn’t really fit in but had way more of a statement within its lyrics - this made a great B-side to “Heartland” however as it was a more cheerful sounding tune to offset it despite the theme again being the same. Kind of sounds like a mix between “Giant”, and “Out of the Blue”

Kids- it’s bloody really scary how not unlike Marty Mc Fly , you can be 30 fucking years into the future. Don’t waste your time cos “ time moves fast and moving faster all the time “ ( name that tune ) . This is unfortunately still as relevant if not more. Love to all anorak wearers and cool people whom like this music 🇨🇳😃

Taken back to 1986, hearing a cassette recording of this, Heartland and Born in the New S.A.

Matt johnson being a dark bugger, with his observations on the world and turning it into a song which should have had more prominence than a b side. That said, regardless of where he or Epic chose to put it, we found it and added it to our collective music collections/playlists. I like the fact that matt doesnt take the easy route when it comes to music. I like that he is on the fringes and that you have to work harder to find him. I admire unconventional and challenging. Matt takes on the world on his own terms and we as listeners and admirers of his craft gladly follow.

@modifiedcontent mine too...i knew hed shelved it. Cant understand why artists do that...prefab sprout did that with the album protest songs.....but at least they eventually released it. There was a demo track called 'lip tripping' which matt released in 1992ish on the volume cd series. That doesnt have any singing on it but matt introduces it. That showed promise, but for whatever reason that didnt appear in any form on 'dusk'. You can listen to that track on yt...
