Being the youngster I was at the time, I genuinely thought they were locked in until the end, until after Richard / Ed did the reveal of tokens collected at the Crystal Dome. Some years later, the illusion of that was shattered when I realised how much editing and stop of recording between games that they did, to realise no - the poor person isn't locked in forever - only until they stopped the recording lol 😂.

Well, this brings back SO many memories. Although, to be honest, I always imagined myself enjoying transitioning from one zone to another than doing the actual challenges. It always seemed so seemless, moving from an Aztec temple to a steampunk industrial site to a haunted castle to a spaceship of the future....
you should check out the Crystal Maze Experience in Manchester. It's exactly like the TV experience, seriously.
One of the best shows on television ever! I discovered it completely by accident watching tele on the weekends the year I studied in London. 22 years later I introduced my kids to it on CZcams and they absolutely love it!
For a really simple gameshow from the 90s this had such an epic theme tune

The odd thing about this is that you don't notice it doesn't have a drum track. It feels like it does, but it actually doesn't. A bit like the way you don't notice that Prince's song When Doves Cry doesn't have a bassline.

Composed by Zack Laurence, who was kind enough to send me a copy of his (_hand-written_) score for of the theme, which is properly called *Force Field* (two words, not one!).
I am happy to confirm that this copy of the music contains all 37 bars in the original score (!).

Love The Crystal Maze. This started on Channel 4 in 1990. Soon after Treasure Hunt ended with Anneka Rice and Annabel Croft in 1989.
Both shows made by Chatsworth Television.
In between was Interceptor (also Chatsworth), which was cancelled after 1 series as it was too expensive to make! Chatsworth put out epic TV back in the day.

My cat Scooby purred to this and he kept the monsters of evil from causing chaos one time. There are some perks that Scooby has with purring to music. Any Lightning Bomb that collides with the enemy's defences and shields will instantly explode. It can even hit through the defences and destroy the enemy. That's one of the perks to having a power like Super Scooby's or Princess Icesis's because any of her Ice Bombs that collides with the enemy's defences and weapons and shields will instantly explode. It can even hit through the defences and give the enemy the cold shoulder so that the enemy can be beaten.

The composer (Zack Laurence) of the theme music for The Crystal Maze TV show (first broadcast in 1990) plagiarised the main theme from the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie The Running Man (1987), created by the legendary composer Harold Faltermeyer (also famous for his Axel F / Beverly Hills Cop theme).
