As a hobbyist writing for a music blog, I try to evoke critical thinking in my readers. I don't put information on plates to be devoured. I go about as if I'm making a point but make them realize I'm rambling. But not for the sake, I want them to evaluate it for themselves. What I do is present cues, stones for holding when making inferences, kind of making it easier for them to think. And if I ever make a point, I damn well make sure it's correct and not creating dichotomies which don't exist. It's a start. But I wish it wasn't some hobbyist like me saying this, I wish it were established individuals
A simple idea is unnecessarily overcomplicated with flowery narratives and wordings, which are confusing and do not serve to elaborate your point. You can simply just say social media provides instant availability of information, creating bad habit of shallow researching and critical thinking.
How is the “presence” of the speaker any different from a blog post than a book? Sure the content is different but I don’t see how this presence argument applies
He’s talking about the sense of engagement. How can you not understand this? It’s beauty is how simple yet impactful his point is. It’s less hearsay, and gives appearance of directness, despite its not necessarily true. It’s primitive brain. It’s why social media dominates .
Its obvious. While reading you can pause how much you want, take concious notes, search fonts... Now, if you listen someone, it becomes a lot garder to you search fonts, take notes, etc
@Walden, what then do you advise? Give up social media for good or become more careful not to trade our ability to think critically? If the latter is anywhere close to your answer, then how do you recommend one goes about it?
Same on schools in my opinion. My grades went up once i started to study/read in classes instead of listening the teacher, unless i had a doubt. While reading i can reread the amount of times i want, make a note of something i need to search after.
I’m not sure I agree completely. It depends on the platform and the content that one attempts to comprehend. If you go to X and try to converse with the people on there you will be more likely to find yourself having to think more critically about how to respond or even interpret the layered complexity of the posts on there. Then again, it all boils down to who you follow and engage with on social media.
And, of course, the darkly funny irony is that critical thinking is so much more important on the internet.
yea. ppl dont even get jokes nowadays. The chivalry is dead and now buried beside humour, i guess.
I uncritically believe you!
😂😂😂
@@abdvlrahmxn4852let me uncritically agree with what you are saying.

I love this video, watched it like 3 times in the past and come back every now and then lol
Is there a full video?
You are evidently extremely intelligent, my brain feels is like it’s expanding just by looking at you❤😂 (this was a compliment).
So very true !
Speaking to the voices

@@hugoantunesartwithblender you’re definitely not reading any books OR blog post. You didn’t even manage to read my comment.

It's why I like to shoot on film. I'm much more intentional with what I do.
Digital is too quick, convenient.
Excellent.
Your accent changes in presentation Vs video, interesting.
Great point !!!❤

yes
as I have been saying for years occam's razor is bleeding humanity dry, not enough critical thinking and crabtree's bludgeon around.
Well... Yeah if you say so🤨
Truuu
it doesn't make any sense
So you think that you can take more notes, while losten someone speaking?
Good god this was unnecessarily wordy.
And we fools get tricked by these speakers without us knowing as if what they are saying are God's words.
This is why I wish I would have lived in the 80’s, when the focus was playing outside and no social media in sight
Why are you scrolling on CZcams shorts instead of be outside? 😂
"set in stone" not "setting stone". "Call it a thing", not "call it a day"
Gadamer much?
Only if he was a lecturer in my uni 🥲
