I miss this comment from the unofficial upload, so here it is:
"This song put chest hair on my chest hair."
    ...
Edit: Just for the record, *I didn't remove anything from before the edit* (all of that is still above,) but I'd like to say something else.
This song played in a dream where either I nearly went to hell, or I saw from the perspective from someone who almost did. I or he (I'm not sure who, but I'll say "he" for now) was in a dark room in *his* house, and he was trying to combat that evil room, I think. (Don't laugh, dream logic is not awake logic.) Maybe he attempted to stop a hell hole from forming in the room? But he wasn't doing the right thing to do it, he was supposed to pray. Then the hand of hell dragged either me or him closer, but for some reason it let go after 3 to 10 seconds, but those few seconds were more than tumultuous.
I don't think there's a more distressing nightmare I've had in my life, except the _other_ dream where I jumped off a cliff to hell - but that other one was after going in a direction while awake that I now _really_ think I DON'T belong with.*
As for ideas for what the lyric could mean: "Going out West" of course can mean "Going to the Wild West" (and there are many troubles in that kind of place,) but the West is (to state the obvious) where the sun goes down. Sun goes down = "sun goes down on your life" = "death." So it goes with Egypt and their ancient religion, right?
"Going out west" could also potentially mean a more ancient form of "going south." Or at least, it could potentially mean that in some contexts. Not all lyrics need to be taken just in one singular way, after all.
I say that "going out west could mean going south" because *North has not always been at the top of a map.* That only became satandardized (wait, what, I thought I was saying "Standardized?" That's quite a typo, _if it's an error at all)_ after 1500 AD. China had it North, Islam had it South, Christians had it East which was where the sun came up from and still comes up from. Personally, I like the East version better - it seems to make me think more about focusing on living, instead of having the "top of the world" (the north pole) as a land of deadly cold freezing weather.
    ...
    *
If you're wondering what I meant by "after going in a direction that I now _really_ think I DON'T belong in," well... _I'm not made to be gay at all._ I don't "hate gays," and I've not been in bed with anyone, but I ventured out to fictional cartoon gay pornland on at least two rare occasions, *and I found that it dramatically did not work.* And so, on purpose, I don't want to return there at all.
Who listens to dreams if they go against their beliefs and actions? Me, at least sometimes. When they're violently terrifying, that appears to be one way to catch my attention.

He's ridiculing men who speak this way. It's the Steelworker of the 90s. "I know Karate, Voodoo too" is ridiculous hyperbole. I have listened to Tom since his first songs. He is as fine a writer as Dylan, in my opinion. His variety is virtually unlimited. It's a shame that so few people know about him. He has also been in movies. If you don't like a song he did keep searching as he did so many varieties of music.

I have loved "your voice" for years. My question is: when will my voice be heard, much less loved? My hometown ended up eating my service and my love. It stole music from my lips. Now, it's just the earlessness that steals my voice from the world. That's not a life... it never has been, and yet I keep living it and hoping someone will care enough to even ASK me to hear it over a phone... anyone with a heart to mean something, even to one small person.
