Zidane is limited in his ability, this is why he stays in the middle of the park and not even good enough to be a winger. He’s just purely a central midfielder. He has the awareness of how much space he has, quick reactions to read defender's body language and see him committing and then the intelligence/skill to pull off the correct move. Strong like Haaland or Ibra, and rarely falling. A teamplayer that could assist (really underestimated on this point), but most known for his crazy sologoals. Not to mention that he big problems with his metabolism and several possible career-ending injuries. For me, R9 at his peak is the goldstandard of soccer. Many with me consider him to be one of the best ever to play the game, but to be real he is more of a "what could have been"..

@@daarom3472 in the 90s and early 2000s national team accolades far outweighed club level ones. People used to play club football only for the money. National tournaments is what made champions. I don’t think anyone cared about club football outside of the club’s own fans.

his best ever skill was the elastico he did against Stam in the 1998 WC SF. He was sprinting at the speed of light, yet he did an elastico to get past Stam as if he never existed. Frand de BOer fouled him, otherwise it would have been the greatest WC goal ever. I sit on my safe and just try to perform on the elastico. I cannot comprehend how he had done it.
