  • #grandMA3 Recipes are new to us, and they're also brand new to the OS. This is their first implementation- so there's a lot to learn about how to create them, where to store them, when to cook them and how to use them in cues. I'll also show you how to create a recipe "template" preset.
    We're covering:
🍕 What the heck is a recipe, and what do they do?
🍕 If there's no recipe "pool", where do we store recipes?
🍕 Recipe in an existing preset vs an empty preset
🍕 Creating a recipe in a preset using EDITOPTION
🍕 When does the console auto-cook, and when do we need to cook?
🍕 Adding MAtricks to a recipe manually or from within the pool
🍕 How to create a "template" recipe preset
🍕 How to use these Recipe Presets in cues so that you don't end up with hard values
Topics to make sure you understand before jumping into Recipes:

0:00 A new recipe concept- what do you need to know first, and what the heck is a recipe?
0:41 What do recipes look like, where do they go and what are they for?
1:39 Let's start with recipes in presets and build one
5:10 The recipe preset is built: do we need to cook it?
5:27 Adding presets with recipes into cues- then change the preset
6:26 Check out what happens to your cue if you change the group used in the preset's recipe
7:31 How to create a "template" recipe preset, and how do they show up in the Fixture Sheet.
8:46 More about Cooking when using Presets with Recipes.

Having trouble seeing the difference between using recipes and using presets. Maybe it's just a simple example, but how is creating your red spots recipe any different from just creating a red spots color preset?

As a general recipe preset- like the red example - you can TOTALLY make this without the recipe. But, if you're going to be updating things like timing or MAtricks, the recipes might save a bit of time.
I think, for me, I might use preset recipes more as the template style that I mention later in the video. And, of course, for MAgic presets as because the recipe keeps hard values away. Also (and I know we haven't talked about it yet) recipes look like they're going to be pretty important to incorporate into phasers.
The next video will talk about using recipes in cues.... and I think we might all get more use out of that style of recipe rather than preset recipes. Let me know what you think.
