    I'm lost.
Im 21 just finished my mandatory army service, my love just broke up with me out of nowhere.
I hope the Camino will help me find myself

Good luck my friend. Doing Camino will undoubtedly give you plenty of time to heal and contemplate a brighter future. Hang in there!

Sorry for the late answer, when is your Camino?

Always carry your planned weight in the backpack, which should be comfortable during long days. I trained with gradually increasing weight up to my planned weight. I tried an expensive ultralight backpack which was far less comfortable than my Osprey 35L. I still have and use my Osprey almost 2 years after my Camino.

We hiked in the Canadian Rockies for 40 years before doing the Camino Frances. It was a great experience.
But we enjoyed nature more because of our Canadian experience.
It was the community of the Camino that we loved. The feeling of being in a group of fellow comrades.

I have a USWE Hikjer 30 litre rucsac. It has changed my walking completely after years of conventional rucsacs. Weighs under a kilo, doesnt move at all on your back, comfortable, completely waterproof so you don't need a cover and its hip belt detaches so you can leave the main part safe in the albergue in the evenings and take your important stuff with you as a 'fanny pack'. Not cheap as £240 but best investment I have made in a while. Thanks for another well made informative video.

Good video. I have the Z Pack 40L. Yes, it’s very expensive, however, as you said, you get what you pay for. My pack for my upcoming Camino is 10 pounds, including water. This is made possible due to the pack being just over 1 pound. Thanks for sharing

    Hi Ricky and Erica!
Another amazing video from you guys. Great point to touch. When I decided to go for the Camino, one year ago, the first thing I bought was my backpack. Mine has a frame and a synthetic screen to allow my back breath and lots of adjustments. But one thing I didn't realize was its size and I got a 50 liters one. Now I know it is a bit larger than I will need, but I gonna use it anyways hehehe.
    Big Hugs!
    Happy Days!

I’m a newbie preparing for my first Camino this coming August. Being that I’m inexperienced, I’ve been trying to prepare as well as possible, as I plan to do the entire French route and I want to make sure I have appropriate gear. That being said, the sticker shock of a high quality backpack, shoes and gear do give me pause. Adding up the cost of travel across the Atlantic, the anticipated cost of lodging and meals, it does get very expensive. The equipment costs I can justify as being an upfront expense I’ll incur just once, as I might continue to use them in the future, but other costs are hard to avoid. It’s cheaper to just walk in a local park, but this is no ordinary stroll, it’s…the Camino. So I hope what I get out of it (if anything) will justify the costs incurred.

Love your videos you guys! Well done on so many levels. Thank you! Question on gear. Your link in comments to recommended gear on Amazon differs from your gear list in the comments. For example, on Ospry packs listed on the recommended link, but your gear list has the ZPack. Time lag issue or a change of heart? I'm new to the long haul trekking, so a blank slate and sucking in the recommendations. Shopping for gear for wife and I as we plan to do one of the Camino walks this Fall and I plan to do Shikoku 88 in the Spring. Thanks!!!

We use both, osprey and the zpack and we recommend them both - this year Camino with Zpack but daily hikes with Osprey! There might be some confusion in description, forgive us!

Don't forget thrift shops, consignments stores and resales such as on Face Book. Many people buy gear with all the great intentions of using it, and wind up selling it after one season or one use.

Thing is that in Norway for example we spend 16 billion NOK buying sport articles a year. And that also means that outdoor equipment is not very enviromently friendly even though you do spend acrooding to your budget, to be more "healthy" or "comfortably". Just bear that in mind. Hello have you ever done the Camino on horseback please ? Is it even possible to do the Camino on horseback ? I know parts of the European 'Route D'artagnan' ( from the Netherlands to the South of France ) are in the north of Spain connecting to the Camino this is why I ask.

    • @caminotellers
      @caminotellers  Před 5 dny +1

We actually don’t know, around 200 people yearly finishes on the horse back !
