      well, there are some people who probably can't peel eggs at all(say like an amputee who's missing a hand/arm or people with severe nerve damage that causes shaking) before this they wouldn't even be able to do eggs without the aid of someone else. Now they can!

    • @TheIves33
      @TheIves33 Pƙed 7 lety +55

      TreClaire if one doesn't have the dexterity to peel an egg how in the hell would they have the dexterity to actually use this device? honestly lol. your heart is in the right place but c'mon 😂

    • @TreClaire
      @TreClaire Pƙed 7 lety +12

      they easily could though? I'm honestly not sure why you think it'd be so hard? Will it take a good bit of time, yeah sure but it's hardly impossible.
      All you really need to do is stand the base up and crack and egg into it, both of those things can easily be done one-handed or with a shaky hand. You can boil a pot of water with one hand...especially if your stove is close enough to your sink. You can break the air seal with just one hand and you can bang the thing on the counter till the egg pops out with one hand. The hardest part of this product for a one-handed/shakey handed person would be twisting and untwisting the lid but that's totally do-able. Go grab a bottle or something in your kitchen and try to open it with just one hand...it'll wobble some but you'll get there and if you did it enough you'd totally get to the point where it won't wobble at all.
      Now lets compare that to trying to peel an egg??? THAT'S impossible with one hand. The egg would roll around forever.

    We use an old Breville egg cooker in our house that uses very little water at all. It has a small sharp spike in the middle of the egg holder that you use to punch a tiny hole in the larger end of the egg, you then put them in the holder up to 7 with that hole facing up and the narrower end down. It uses just a few millimeters of water at the bottom. For hard boiled you fill the cup piece built into the center of the lid right up. Only two thirds full for soft boiled. Turn it on, stick the lid on and it lets out a loud buzz when the eggs are ready. We then put the eggs wile still hot into a bowl of cold water and then with the palms of our hands roll them on a wooden bread board with just enough pressure to crack the shell as we roll, then peel it off.

I've seen so many videos where the guys full on TOSS the instructions away and then just try to 'figure it out themselves' and when they can't they just deem it as failed product.
    I also enjoy your unbiased nature when it comes to these certain products and how you really go through it and add in your own opinion in a way that is very intelligent and reasonable. I really like the way you do your reviews in comparison to the videos out there where they shove the product down your throat for marketing or other videos where the person's biased opinions blind them to giving the product a fair chance.

      The color of the egg depends on the breed of chicken. I usually buy brown eggs, but I with Easter around the corner I've found white eggs take dye better and make for more vibrantly colored eggs, so I got those instead.

  • @giggles2302

    So that the egg shells don't burst while boiling, I use a tack to make a tiny hole at one end of the egg. There's a pointier end and a blunter end, so poke the hole in the blunter end. That end has a small chamber between the shell and inner membrane. Poking a tiny hole here will give the egg a place to release the pressure inside that's created by the cooking. Be careful to poke only the hard shell and not break the inner membrane. You'll see tiny bubbles coming from the hole once it's cooking, and the shell won't bust cz is got that pressure release. After cooking, give it an ice water bath for a few minutes, drain the water, shake the pan to crack and loosen the shells, then peel under gently running water. If the egg is not fresh, this works even better because the air chamber gets bigger over time.

    You can take the eggs, put them right into a pan with cold water, then bring it up to a boil. Once you bring it to a boil, leave the pan on the burner with the lid on, and turn the stove off. Let it set for 10 minutes and you get perfect hard boiled eggs each time with no gray ring. That's how my grandma did it, and how I do it. Works every time.

  • @Rainsofchange
    @Rainsofchange Pƙed 7 lety +2

    I've found that adding eggs directly into the boiling water instead of letting the eggs come up to a boil with the water makes the shells easy to come off. I was having trouble for a while, but ever since I found this trick, I haven't had problems. The only time it doesn't work is if you add too many eggs in a pot too small, driving the temp of the boiling water way down. Bringing them up to room temp in warm water probably helps with this.
    For perfect boiled eggs that aren't overcooked, I put them in the boiling water, let them go a couple minutes, then turn off the heat, cover the pot, and let them sit in the cooling water for about twelve to fourteen minutes. After that, I put the eggs into an ice bath to stop the cooking. No grey yolks for me!

    poke a tiny hole in the bottom of the egg before boiling. makes it easy to shell them and doesn't leak out due to air pressure/vs water pressure. When you do the cold water rinse the cold water shoots up between the hot shell and the membrane and helps it seperate.

    We have an egg cooker 😂 it makes the perfect eggs unless you want "dippy" eggs. (a dippy egg is a English term, I don't know if it's used through all of Britain so I'm just gonna say English for now) it's basically a boiled egg with a runny yolk for dipping toast in. It fails at the dippy egg and you end up with a snotty egg of you don't leave it in its shell for a minute or two after cooking.

    Its sad seeing people who don't normally see a lot of white eggs say they are bleached. Don't you notice that not every chicken lays the same egg? White chickens lay these white eggs, that's why they seem bleached. Kathy Niebylski Sorry Kathy, your research is wrong. The color of the egg is not related to the color of the feathers, just the breed. White Plymouth Rocks lay brown eggs. White Leghorn lays white. Other colors of Plymouth Rocks also lay brown. There are Brown Leghorns, they lay white. Araucanas come in many colors and lay blue and green eggs. Americanas, also in many colors, lay blue and green. Orpingtons, again, many colors, including white, lay brown eggs.

    Why does everyone over think boiling eggs? The classic methos is best, start the eggs in a pot of cold water, they will warm us as the water does, once the water beings to boil let it go for 4-6 minutes depending on egg size and desired doneness. Thake pot to the sink, pour out hot water and fill with cold water and let stand, done.

All 3 were a week overdue. My girls were definitely a quicker an easier delivery. Even after all these years I still remember how precious yet difficult pregnancy can be. I was so grateful for words of encouragement during those times. It helped me to know that others could understand my mixed emotions and "aches and pains" that went along with it. When hard-cooking eggs, ignore conventional wisdom and go with the freshest eggs you can find. (Cook's Illustrated)
      "In general, older eggs are easier to peel, so for hard boiled eggs an egg a few weeks old is better," David Mogford from the Australian Egg Corporation.
      Do what Emmy does. Room temp eggs, boiling water then add eggs, cook to your desired stage, (8 min. is mine like Emmy I like the yolk creamy), cold water until completely cool. Old eggs or fresh will peel easily.

    It's funny how many people seem to be shocked or surprised at least at the white eggs. I mean, I grew up eating eggs of all kinds of shades, so I had really white ones, off-white ones, beige ones, really light brown ones and even shaded eggs. All taste exactly the same and bleaching isn't allowed here.
    I have to say that I prefer brown(ish) eggs, because in my experience, the shell is a tiny bit thicker and cracks more evenly on an edge when I make scrambled eggs or something like that.
    I also grew up using an egg pick to poke a small hole into the air pocket on the blunt end of the egg, so if you put a cold egg from the fridge into boiling water, the pressure escapes through the hole and the egg doesn't crack.
    I usually don't put my eggs into cold water and they still peel well. I don't know if the egg pick helps with that, too.
