New Miss USA officially crowned after former winner suddenly resigns

Miss USA Savannah Gankiewicz, a Maui native, was officially crowned in Honolulu after Noelia Voigt resigned on May 6. The Miss USA organization congratulated Gankiewicz, who initially placed as first runner-up in September. Despite facing backlash and death threats, Gankiewicz chose to accept the title, stating it was a responsibility to make a positive change within the organization. She will travel to Los Angeles to meet with the Miss USA organization and then move to Florida to complete her reign. Gankiewicz plans to use her two-and-a-half month reign to promote self-love and confidence for young women.
