Richmond Birdwing Butterfly Gully

It's the middle of winter here, so mating season for the otherwise shy platypus. These photos were all taken on a leisurely 2 hour walk on 29-Jun-2024. The platypus photos are from a video taken the previous day. This oasis of nature is nestled in the midst of a regular suburb in Goonellabah, Lismore, NSW and is maintained by a bunch of dedicated and overall fantastic bunch of volunteers. Local council also assists with the program.
