I don't believe in throwing the baby out with the bath water. Thank you Mr. Cosby for all the times you saw beauty, or skill, and excellence and wanted to share it with the world. This was beautiful and I enjoyed watching these fabulous dancers. Inspiring.
Ms Maxine Sherman,I was in the third company during the time in which you were a principal dancer in the company..So many fond memories of you performing in the greatest ballets of great choreographers . Best memories were Lark Ascending and Memoria! Brava Maxine!Brava!!!
I tell friends that you never truly appreciate the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, unless you had seen the man, himself, Move. He wasn't your typical, svelte dancer. He was a big man; big enough to be an offensive tackle or guard in the NFL!! But, when he moved, when he danced, it was like seeing the Gospels come Alive!!! It was Truth and Grace come alive, made flesh, before your eyes!!! His 'movement' became the vocabulary for future generations of Alvin Ailey dancers to come!! That was the Legacy he left us.
The funny thing is, the 5th season intro to The Cosby Show almost resembled something like this, thanks to Geoffrey Holder. No wonder he was asked to host this special.
