Haha! The two older one's remind me so much of my first litter XD right down to the Salt-And-Pepper and Pinto mix ^.^ I can tell that you love all of your hedgies very much :) Thanks for the video!
yes, 2 boys from the older litter have new homes(just the one girl and boy left). And the 4 babies are still only a month old so they are not old enough to go.
Another great informative video....the only thing I really knew about hedghogs was that video game character....Sonic. These are cute and cool animals and I will track your progress with great interest!
Earthling 1984 I liked all your video's. Watched several in the last couple of days..! I recommended your video's to my grandson, to watch before I get him a Hedgehog. Good job on your video's, very educational. Really enjoyed watching & learning, Grandson will also..! Thank you, 👌 👍 ❤
@StreetDrumm3r they are not like porcupines. Porcupines have very sharp and spikey quills that will stick into you, then detach from the porcupines body. These will puncture the skin and can cause infection. Hedgehogs have spines that are sharp, but they do not dis-attach from the body and stick into your skin like a porcupines would. A tame hedgehog keeps their spines down/back so they won't hurt you at all.
Woah, her food doesn't get stale, though. I don't fill it up all the way, I merely fill it up when she has it all gone. Which is almost on a daily basis. So it doesn't get stale, and she enjoys it. I know quite a bit about hedgehogs; enough that I don't assume things like you just did. U ok.
@RojasChiller should use catfood and hedgehog food as main foods. Ferret food can be added, but I wouldn't use it as one of the main two. Also be sure to get 35% or more protein and 15% or less fat.
Well, like you said, it is hard to compare. If i had to have just one, I'd probably pick an STO. Once tame and bonded with you, they are very calm and easy to handle. They readily take treats and it is fun to feed them live foods like crickets, superworms, and pinkie mice. They are very soft and easy to care for. Also due to their small size they eat/drink/pee/poop less than hedgehogs, so they require less food/bedding. Hedgehogs are awesome too though! Biased cus I've had STO's longer.
nothing is hurting them. they get used to it. just like when my dog used to bark, it would scare them, but now, it doesn't bother them. You know how most human children cry when they first get their hair cut... but then they realize they aren't being hurt... same kind of thing.
I've read more around 2 months... 6 weeks is when they should be just weaned... But I agree, they should be separated to avoid unwanted pregnancy, I just have heard 2 months or so, not 6 weeks.
It all depends, many people say yes an others say no. My friend used to have one and she would curl into a ball but it never hurt to pick her up . Just have to be careful
The quills are always the same hardness... but, if the hedgehog is calm and tame, then he will put his quills back and down, so they don't poke u at all. If they are scared or angry, they put them up in every which way.
@xxGaBbYxx11 a hamster, mouse, or rat make great 'starter' pets. They are easy to care for, usually are very nice and cuddly, and don't live too long. Which you may thinking living short is a bad thing, but like some reptiles can live 30+ years... this isn't good for a beginner who is unsure about pet keeping.
@3001kikik they are very random. Usually mine wake up during the day a few times and get some food and water, and walk around a bit(like 30mins). At night they are usually awake around 10PM till 1 or 2AM.
you're welcome(: my boy passed away on friday, but im getting a baby of his . they're two weeks as of tomorrow. he had some sort of non genetic cancer and we just caught it way too late ): he was only 7 months old
@RojasChiller hedgehogs that are 1 month old should still be with their mom. They shouldn't be sold to new homes until they are at least 2 months. Anyways, hedgehogs should eat a mixture of quality hedgehog food, & cat food, and I sometimes throw in some sugar glider or ferret food also. You should also feed them other foods such as insects, fruits, and veggies.
@RojasChiller how old is your hedgehog, how long have you owned your hedgehog, what foods are you giving, and does your hedgehog look skinny like it hasn't eaten, or is it pretty fat?
awsome hedgehogs! i just got my girl a wheel, and man is she energetic! lol and she hates being waken up during the day lol....also what wet food do u give them? ive tried some fruits and carrots but nothing.
Question: My hedgehog is about 14 weeks old and he's really nice. But he does jump and puff a lot, and is still timid. I hold him and handle him a lot, but I am wondering if you have any tips to calm him down. He's just very timid. Eventually he opens up, but if you even look at if, he usually balls up or hides his face.
also I was wondering if you've ever had any problems with mites? I'm not concerned right now that my 8 week old little girl has them at all but I did read that they can get them from loose wood bedding and I am really wanting to prevent this, I bought aspen like you said from petco. Thanks for your videos they're a big help. :)
I fast forward a little bit and BOOM I thought he was sucking them up with a vacuum 😂😂😂 then I saw them to the left
I just got to that part and I was so scared

I'm preparing our balcony, I'm getting a hedgehog soon! and your videos are really helpful. can't wait to have my own!
Thanks :) They are really cool little pets.
wiskies or something is the wet food I used in video. Mine love banana, pineapple, chicken, apple sauce, etc. They can be pretty angry when woken up!
They're all absolutely gorgeous :) I'm getting my little pinto on Saturday
great videos!
Haha! The two older one's remind me so much of my first litter XD right down to the Salt-And-Pepper and Pinto mix ^.^ I can tell that you love all of your hedgies very much :) Thanks for the video!

Awwww! So cute! ^^
They look so cute when you hold them on their back :D
Agree, even so, they are a different looking animal.
You take VERY good care of your hedgies :D and they're all so precious
They are so cute

Thanks much for the kind words! Good luck with your grandsons hedgehog!
very nice hedgies! I bought my first one today! I'm really exited about it, and i'm trying to learn all I can! your videos help a lot!
yeah, if they are tame then they hold their spikes back and it doesn't hurt at all

:) hopefully one day you can own one!
OMG I WANT A HEDGIE LIKE THT BOY
thanks!
@adrianojuly yes you can, or you can use something different so they may be able to realize it is meant as a littler box.
Aw, the first litter were born on my birthday. :3
The one male is a good one, I've got me a few huffy hedgehogs lol, nah their awesome- part of the family.
Woah, her food doesn't get stale, though. I don't fill it up all the way, I merely fill it up when she has it all gone. Which is almost on a daily basis. So it doesn't get stale, and she enjoys it.

i think he got his own store.
@lovingkazuma I fully clean the cages once a week.

lol that would suck. I am always very careful with it! Usually I only use it with the animals out of the cage.
It's hard, but it doesn't really hurt.
I AM GETTING ONE TOMOROW!!! Its 9 weeks old. CANT Wait!!! HAv to drive 4 hours tho....
at 2:23 i kinda looked at the hedgehog and started thinking " you mad bro ? "
The mom is very pretty
Okay, thanks, I was just wondering if my baby hedgehogs were smaller than average. I guess not since they're around 4".
I've read more around 2 months... 6 weeks is when they should be just weaned... But I agree, they should be separated to avoid unwanted pregnancy, I just have heard 2 months or so, not 6 weeks.
Scarborough Town Centre has a pet store selling Hedgehogs. Was at the mall last Saturday
About 3 inches at one month.. And when in a ball still smaller than a baseball.
It all depends, many people say yes an others say no. My friend used to have one and she would curl into a ball but it never hurt to pick her up . Just have to be careful
@safiajanu say, 'well lets get a really big cage then, with lots of fun stuff and toys in it!'
The quills are always the same hardness... but, if the hedgehog is calm and tame, then he will put his quills back and down, so they don't poke u at all. If they are scared or angry, they put them up in every which way.

If you 'hand-raise' or not... they still stay with the mom... You only fully hand raise and hand feed if the mom rejects them or dies...
@dannydestroys between $100 and $200. Any animal can bite, it depends on the individual animal and honw they were raised.
Very cute!! they have grown have you found some of them homes already? Nice large bins as well
I free feed my hedgehogs, they are fine.
lol its like my family 3girls 1boy :D
Do you have a website? So we can buy from u?
I free feed and my hedgehog is fine... she gets a bowlful every night and is allowed to eat as much as she wants until it's gone...
@3001kikik they are very random. Usually mine wake up during the day a few times and get some food and water, and walk around a bit(like 30mins). At night they are usually awake around 10PM till 1 or 2AM.
I have a male named spike. He is awsome.
Lol. I think the mom poo'd next to the dish...
@Binky0827 Thanks!
Wet food is just moist cat food(like canned cat food). Dry food is just fine for them to, I just view the wet food as more of a treat.
you're welcome(: my boy passed away on friday, but im getting a baby of his . they're two weeks as of tomorrow. he had some sort of non genetic cancer and we just caught it way too late ): he was only 7 months old
@eugenesantosjr ok, I'll try to do that soon :)
same here

i have a pet hedgehog he always checks my pants just so he can find a cookie.
My hedgehog free-feeds all the time. Come at me.
lol thanks :)

@Silverblaze72x I think you can in indiana.
I have, but not currently.

Um one question is hedgehogs fur prickly does it hurt when you touch it or is it like just fur and soft.
@lyndsysue try gentle unscented baby wipes. That's what I use for my rats :)
@ElleOhElleHilarious yeah
also I was wondering if you've ever had any problems with mites? I've had over 50 hedgehogs and kept them on aspen for over 10 years. Never had any illness, never had mites.
@wowplayerdruid it really isn't hard - just have to look at their stomach area and it is pretty obvoius.
when a hedgehog isnt scared or angry, are their quills soft or still sharp?
