  • The Snake River runs across the southern part of Idaho. In some areas you will find big trout in others you'll find big sturgeon along with catfish, carp, crappie, bass and a wide variety of other species. We headed out to one of our fishing grounds and planned to fish until midnight for some Channel Catfish. Our plan soon crumbled from an unexpected forecast making our trip a little bit harder for success.

    Hi... My name is Eric (aka Rivers Edge). I am an avid fishermen / fly fishermen who likes to fish for bass, trout, crappie, salmon, steelhead, kokanee, sturgeon and many other species lurking in Idaho's waters. I grew up in Idaho; fishing my way up. Our secondary language is Russian which explains the gibberish you might hear. I film with a single Gopro Hero 8 and through my phone. I'm yet to upgrade my camera gear. I film most of my fishing trips and try to make something out of it...

    I grew up on that river. Probably fished it more than most that were born there. Next time you go, this is the setup we use. 20+ lb line. Trout or crappie is best for bait but other fish work. Crickets and minnows are great too. Cut into 2-4” x 1” strips. You will catch more big fish like that. My family has landed many fish I’ve 20-30 lbs. Good luck next time.
    James

      Also, with that wind. We use 2-3 oz weights. It will help hold the bottom when it’s really windy. We’ve caught fish in thunderstorms with that wind blowing.

      Hey thanks for the information James! Love when locals help out! I've lived in the area most my life too, but I never really grew up fishing for catfish... but it looks like I'll need to make some adjustments to my catfishing tackle box. 👍

    Great lil video. I love fishing down that direction, Steck Park kills it. I wish their was good enough service there to go live.

    Try circle hooks. U won’t miss as many fish. Their mouth is so hard it’s difficult to get a hook to stick. My first trip out that way was a very frustrating experience. Nice work guys👍

    Cool video, I was at Steck park yesterday checking out the level of the water. I live in Weiser and also grew up in this area. We fish and camp on the Oregon side more though because of a lot better access.

      @@severalothers oh, that nice. I only ever went down there to fish for channels because I know there's a good population of them there. Definitely would like to try fishing for other species when it gets warm.

      @@riversedgefishing We have been going up to Owyhee Reservoir in Oregon the last few years. A lot less wind there and the crappie fishing is amazing.

    Nice! Any chance of dropping a pin for that place. Haha, been looking for a good catfish/camping spot to explore!

      Lol, I can't really drop you an exact pin but the Snake River on the border of Oregon and Idaho is a good stretch... thats where we were fishing. Try from Weiser, Idaho to Brownly reservoir - good catfish stretch đŸ€™.

      We fish for Catfish on the western part of Idaho. It's between the border of Idaho and Oregon.

    Where on the Snake are you fishing that allows 2 poles?

    • @riversedgefishing
      @riversedgefishing  Pƙed 4 měsĂci

      It's the Snake River between Idaho and Oregon north of Ontario. Here in Idaho you can purchase a Two-Pole Permit to fish with two poles a person. That's why we are allowed to have four rods out on the Snake River because we both had that permit.
