My girlfriend Kristi and I, as well as our dog, hit the trail in the Wind River Range of Wyoming to go on her first backpacking trip in bear country. Together we brave wild windstorms, hail, long days on the trail, icy lake swimming, and the threat of bears outside our tent at night.

My very first backpacking trip as a 14 year old was a little bit north of your route, Bridger National Forest, 50 years ago. I am planning an anniversary trip on that same trail next summer. This time, I will come back with pictures of that amazing country ! Seeing your great video is making me consider extending the trip to include some miles around where you were at. Love it. Dang....I didn't realize the Wind River Range was so close to Pinedale....which is my favorite place in the world! Duh, I should probably read the signs and such versus being amazed at the views. Great video and thank you for sharing. It's a bit of a haul from Denver, but so worth it!

You two are so cute….just finished an epic 3 day, 2 nite, 30+ mi BP trip in the Winds. Originally planned for 4days/3nts, but had to adjust for various factors, mainly weather. Of course your channel now shows up in my feed 🤔 We didn’t do the same trail, but definitely had an epic adventure! Thanks for sharing!

I’m going to Yellowstone and doing 2hikes in the Grand Tetons backcountry!, I don’t understand why I can’t have 🔥 Fire ?, w/wild animals, wolves & Bears!? Ok on one trail, but not on both??? Y? I’m so excited to go & I always LOVE Camping! But I knew nothing about backpacking!!! I’m learning quickly! I’m much older & both broke & broken! But not ever gonna give up!, Finally my turn & I’m going! I’m really hoping I’m strong enough to carry what I need, & I’m doing some great bikepacking too! 🚴 🏔 ⛅️

Wow I got to hike their with my Boy Scout troop over the summer and it truly is an incredible place just amazing views every single time you go over a hill- and it honestly wasn’t too hard if you make it a multi day trip

What kind of camera setup did you bring in this trip? For all of the video specifically. I always have a tough time balancing quality and weight with my camera gear on backpacking trips. Thanks!
Hey! For my big camera I use the Sony a7r3 and the sigma art series 24-70 2.8, plus a manfrotto tripod. For one the go filming I also bring the DJI osmo pocket. It's a lot of weight and bulk and more than I recommend carrying for most people. But I love filming and doing photography in the wild so it's always been worth it.
@@BackpackingTV thanks for the info! The pocket looks like it did a pretty good job on this one! Was trying to look at the reflection in your glasses and thought it was either a GoPro or pocket but looked too skinny for a GoPro 😂 appreciate the response! Enjoyed the video

I live in Washington state and in the mountain trails people get mad at you when you bring your dog. I wonder why? Some say cuz they attract bears? Not sure? Maybe there scat does?
Maybe leash laws or trail etiquette? Otherwise they doesn't make sense.
