I am a simple man, I see Muldrotha, Ghalta and Unesh on the same game and I click
I just came back to comment that the episode was awesome and I see that my comment got pinned, today's a great day :'D
That's funny, cause I clicked only for the Firesong and Sunspeaker
I actually came to see what the Twinotaurs would do.
My favourite thing about clocking off at work on a Monday is the Muddstah video that's waiting for me! 😁
Unesh too
Honestly I don't understand why didn't the firesong player do anything, he could have copies the souls majesty and had drawn 8 cards, for just two mana to maybe answer the rest of the board.
No interaction :(
The games haven't been great in a while, I'm wondering if Muddstah is digging deep into his archives because he can't get new games.
I saw "Firesong and-"
And i clicked the video happily
Then i looked at muldotha and felt sad.
Then i noticed the channel.
Trully a rollercoaster of emotions
Muldrotha is just the most boring commander ever
@@spencersonnier1 why tf you hating on my girl muldrotha? she is so fun to pilot
@@amc6169 and no fun to play against
I've only seen one muldrotha deck below an 8 and it was from a cube draft and at most a 2/10.
@@amc6169 she'd def not have fun against my 12$ endrek sahr deck it has a 100% winrate against sultai and Simic ( ;
I'd really like to see more balanced games. This game was a power level 8-9 Muldrotha against level 4-6 decks. No wonder it dominated.
That deck is more like a 7 level muldrotha. There was almost no interaction the whole game and it showed
I thought Bill was gonna win with recurring Gary multiple times but then I seen the lab man come out and was like.. oh.
I fucking love that John and Steve swapped commanders at 8:04 sometime during a cut in editing xD
The back and forth between them was my favorite thing about this game. I also loved when Charmbreaker Devils put Reiterate back in his hand but when Steve was given the card he instead put it in his hand and gave John a random card from his hand instead. 🤣
Big surprise that it's the Muldrotha deck that dominates in a game against Firesong and Unesh :/ Ghalta was the only other deck that really had a chance to do anything.
Rest in peace. Counterspell. Negate. Essence scatter. Unwind. Rewind. Fierce guardianship. Force of negation. Need I go on? The problem wasn't that Muldrotha was powerful, but rather that the blue player was mindlessly drawing cards instead of interacting with the board, the boros player wasted their removal and the mono green player wasn't running any removal. You would be hard pressed to find a deck that doesn't dominate the game when every other player at the table draws poorly or gets mana screwed.
I am sorry but in a pod with a Boros spellslinger deck, Mono blue Sphinx Tribal and Mono G stompy, a deck that can play and return a tutor (Sidisi) and basically tutor with the Whisperer and Gary, there isn't much the table can do. Sure, there was a better use for the Scavenging Grounds but the deck was clearly stronger than the rest. Could have played Archenemy.
@@entiao5570 Agreed. That has been my experience playing against Muldrotha. I'm not hating on the Muldrotha player, but whenever I'm in a pod with one I try to show the table the plays and loops that the Muldrotha player already has access to and am summarily ignored, and big surprise we get drowned in value+staxed out+comboed because people won't work together to shut them down.
@@comradecameron3726 The Unesh player kept a risky hand and was basically a non-factor the entire game, and Sphinx tribal is just not on par with Muldrotha. Mono green stompy is linear, Muldrotha built even half-way decently has repeatable answers to everything. Good luck winning with Ghalta when Muldrotha can loop Spore Frog or removal every turn.
@@bodaciouschad That is sadly entirely too common in pods though. One or two tuned decks against two or three fun decks. Removal and answering threats is considered taboo in too many player's minds, if you don't answer certain things the game is just over. And drawing poorly or getting mana screwed in honestly mostly a facet of inefficient decks or risky opening hands, the more effort I've put into streamlining my decks for card draw+mana curve+ramp+mana fixing the better "luck" I've had, and mana fixing is the only one of the above that has a financial aspect involved.
Not technically a misplay but Steve could've stacked his bear umbra trigger after the sword of the animist to have the land he searched untap
I saw this too. I was so sad
Woopedydoo, the guy who tutored multiple times won the game. Shocking
"and as we've seen in countless other games..." yea, like all of them. Seriously what is it with you guys and keeping unkeepable hands?
This is casual EDH. People just like to live dangerously and pay the price for their arrogance.
IMO 2 lands and a 3 mana rock is fine for mull to six. The problem in when players keep something like that with 0 mulls done.
Hey look another sultai game where no one interacts with them AT ALL and they win, fun! Big! Surprise! Woohoo! muldroTHA!!!
Whenever I see muldrotha or a broken Simic commander I pull out my 12$ endrek sahr deck to kill them because they refuse to interact with infinite Gary's
@@kingfuzzy2 could you share list? 12 bucks sounds amazing
@@Suavek69 sure it's gone up a lil since I first bought it but you can build it for the same price if you find damaged versions of the cards aetherhub.com/Deck/Public/232554
I'm just confused on how a burn style deck didn't have any interaction and didn't kill the win cons as they hit the field. Unless he only drew lands, that just really confused me
I swear to god nobody on this channel has even heard about removal. Ffs its so frustrating sometimes
It's not just this channel. The amount of people on twitter/reddit who complain about bullshit cards or commanders are the same people who play zero removal. Muldrotha should have been removed multiple times by the end of this game.
I don’t play much removal because it takes away from “fun cards” that I actually want to play that make a deck unique. I understand my decks would be strictly better with more removal/instant speed interaction but I think I’d have less fun playing them.
@@scottmillor I understand this view point but someone else using their removal to stop you doing your fun thing will also ruin your fun. Someone winning the game because you have no interaction will also stop you having fun.
Is there a single game with Firesong and Sunspeaker where they do anything at all? I love the commander, but every single game I find they don't even get a participation award
I have one, with this very same deck actually. It's an almost 3hr long brain melting mess of interactions. I blame Radiate being a stupid card for it not seeing the light of day as of yet.
@@MTGMuddstah brb digging through all of your uploads at the speed of light
Firesong and Sunspeaker should've been 1WR in the first place. Six mana is way to much for the kind of deck you'll want to build with them.
@@trizmisce It's not been uploaded yet. I have it in my vault.
@@corhydrae3238 Big time agree!
As soon as I saw that graveyard filling up so fast my first thought was Lab Man and yep, there it is! Fun game to watch :)
Even though I have no power , heat , or wifi all cause of the winter storm in Texas , I’ll still use some cellular to hear some generic goblin noise
Play Rest in Peace. This comment brought to you by: Interaction
Adam's playmat! Totally love it, cause Jay and silent Bob
Lab man... Yaaaawwwwwwn. I like how Muldrotha lets you do just about anything in the universe and he goes with the most typical and boring alternate win-con in magic
She doesn't let your cast instants and sorceries from your graveyard.
@@bodaciouschad true the low power muldrotha decks I've played against ran mostly instants and sorceries.
Happy to see some Minotaurs! Those Muldrotha turns were mind numbing...
10:05 john DEF should’ve copied that soul’s majesty, his charmbreaker devil would’ve had 8 power and that’s godlike card draw
This kind of stuff is my I mainboard Grafdiggers Cage and Weathered Runestone.
I’m starting to consider it
I knew Muldrotha would probably win the minute I saw the video title. Then I saw their opening hand and knew they would DEFINITELY win. Muldrotha is, sadly, just too good most of the time unless everyone uses their removal on her. She's up there with Chulane and Golos as just overwhelming value, and maybe in a match with them it would have been more even. But Ghalta and F&S just can't keep up with her, and Unesh did not seem to have the interaction to stop anything. (I played a friends Unesh deck and they had like 15~ counterspells in it, so I know it can do it).
Have you actually played muldrotha? It is a 6 mana 6/6 which does nothing unless you have mana and relevant cards in your graveyard on your turn. The deck scoops to any number of graveyard hate spells, and between 3 opponents, somebody is going to have an answer for your graveyard long before you have had a chance to resolve your commander. Muldrotha isn't a good commander, she just is one of the best commanders for grinding out a long and painful win against poorly built decks. If you believe she's busted, I invite you to test that theory by trying her for yourself.
Yea sucks that rest in peace can't be put in any decks of the table or grafdiggers cage or scavenging ooze. I've had several games where I play a graveyard based deck and get stomped by all kinds of cards even fairy macabre
@@bodaciouschad The Muldrotha player won very quickly and the other players had nothing to stop them. I might have agreed with you if this game was able to go to 12 turns, but it went to turn 8, which is pretty fast. This is counter to your " between 3 opponents, somebody is going to have an answer for your graveyard long before you have had a chance to resolve your commander." comment.
Most games I play against Muldrotha just are annoying grindy games, and the fact you say that only bad decks have a rough time against her make me either think you've never played a really well built Muldrotha deck, or you expect everyone to have cEDH level decks.
@@theliving1037 And not of that happened here. It was over on turn 8. That was my main thing, the other decks are obviously NOT the same level. Sunspeaker is so weak compared to Muldrotha, while Unesh is luck based mostly (unless you pour money into it), and Ghalta needs more time to get its stompy creatures out. Muldrotha was able to take advantage of it's weak enemies at the table.
@@andrewfugle1037 Turn 8 isn't the beginning of the game, and yes he had a much higher power commander. However most graveyard hate is less than a dollar and 1 or 2 drops. Along side path to exile, swords to plowshares, and other exile spells.
i mean, he tutored what, 4 cards? and could basically play his whole deck when milling. I know this was probably a low power level match but I still can't cope with the lack of mass removal in these kind of decks, even if muldrotha's "combo" was very convolute and required him to mill his whole deck (and gain enough life to be able to do so) it doesn't justify the lack of interacion with his 4 combo pieces happily going off every turn for all those turns. maybe it's just a case but I always cry when this happens ;_; the preconstructed lathril deck could beat these decks by playing the commander alone and attacking :P
Agreed. The only removal spell was wasted on a signet. The green player should have been running fighy spells, the boros player ought to have had wraths and the blue player should have had counterspells. Muldrotha isn't even a good deck, it's just one of the most punishing decks to play against opponents who don't build their decks properly.
Not sure if keeping the Muldrotha player from ramping was a misplay. He kept a 1 land hand and still was able to play a land on every turn. Drawing 3 lands on the first 4 draws was incredibly lucky.
@@jefmertens3959 hitting the signet was the right play, the boros player just didn't know what else muldrotha had in hand.
Nice Jay and Silent Bob playmat 👍
AWESOME A LAB MAN WIN!!! This is new tech I never thought of.
Bill Bogged John's Wear//Tear and John had no idea how to show it was exiled lmao
hey.. when do you think you will have decklists included? :)
That Jay the Mind Sculptor playmat 🤣
Gary doing a lot of work today
I love watching these keep up the great work.
Glad you like them!
It's been a while since I last saw Labman, suggesting that this game is pre-Theros... I hope you're not running out of footage if you're digging this deep.
I mean, I haven't filmed in person really since February 2020. I've done some periodic games through Discord, but nothing like what I was doing when I filmed in shops.
Why didn't bill just attack with the zombies first after milling with the doom whisper 💀💀
Because playing sloppy isn't punished at all, although this kinda stuff deserves a pow straight in the kisser to really have a lasting effect.
Came here to ask the same question!
I've found that ramp in ghalta is best when it's on a creature with power >0. That way it reduces Ghalt's' cost too.
The hell are you dredging up all these videos from? I don't even remember filming this lol
Yea that was a pretty awful game for me.
We're digging deep into the vault at this rate.
Bringin out the shovel that dug to china I see
I love Adam's playmat
Ah, I see this was a lovely game of Solitaire from the Muldrotha player, the other decks may as well have not existed at all.
Should've stacked the attack triggers, trigger bear umbra first, then sword second, putting land into play, then untapped when bear's trigger resolves, silly small mistakes like that, including missing a fact o fict trigger off the sphinx is absurd, the dude had one job and failed. Nobody was running interaction, someone reiterated a demonic tutor, that's basically it. You left a sidisi go off, mill, win.
Jay, The Kevin sculptor! Best mat
Great game. Also loving Adam's Jay & Silent Bob playmat, where he get it
Ahh yes, the Jay the Bob Sculptor playmat. A true classic. 🧐
This game is a very good example of why people hate Muldrotha. Yaaawn.
This comment is a very good example of why people should just run rest in peace/scavenging ooze/Bojuka Bog/ tormods crypt YAAAWN
How so? What exactly was the problem with Muldrotha here? The 6 mana 6/6 didn't do anything.
@@bodaciouschad it’s not necessarily Muldrotha herself but rather the decks that get built around her, they generally just end up being kind of solitary/combo and just not really fun to play against very often
@@justanotherhuman7106 Exactly, the "solitaire"-type deck that focuses on filling up the graveyard, drawing/milling tons of cards that enables the combo-win. Usually it's a Exsanguinate/Torment of Hailfire type effect or Lab man/Thassa's Oracle.
Either way, it's horrible to play against because you're just sitting there waiting for them to go off on turn 5 while you just dropped your fifth land, played one spell and passed the turn.
Anywhere I can go to see Bill's deck list? I am building Muldrotha and need help! LOL
sweet effete game my friends! always love a lab man win
Okay I just felt like Bill really was a bit lacking with the sequencing and planning of his plays. Im not sure if he build the deck recently or is a more unexperienced player, but just activating the doom whisperer 10 times simultaniously seemed a bit rushed. Of course he wanted to mill his cards, but since surveil is some kind of scry ability, I think its better to do it one at a time in case there is a card you really really dont want to bin. Also the combo at the end seemed a bit unplanned. First of all he could have casted Glen Alendra BEFORE the greater good, to make sure the enchantment does not get countered or destroyed in response to the Archmage being cast and second of all, if you plan to go for this combo finish, especially if you play Lab Maniac in a Muldrotha game, you should know what card draw options you have and what to use now.
Bill seemed to be trying to shortcut his turns to save time. A properly played Muldrotha loop can take like 20 minutes of solitare to set up. He could recast greater good if it got countered, so he was trying to bait out the countermagic by casting it (presumably).
I have the same sleeves as Adam, and man, they are pretty, but you need to watch them to make sure that they don't slide all over the place
NO WAY!!! THERE ARE OTHER UNESH PLAYERS OUT THERE??
Yep there's two players that have decks with him in my playgroups one decks insanely powerful the other one durdles.
Adam's playmat is 🔥
that muldrotha deck is sick
I was like "Anyone but Muldrotha win..." Sigh. Such a boring value engine.
I really want to see this fire song and sunspeaker list, along with the muldratha list.
Any chance we could get Bill's Muldrotha list? :')
This Ghalta deck wasn't just forests!
Did anyone get an actual counts of how many Zombie tokens were made during the game?
Too many
Where did Adam get that sweet playmat from? Jay and Silent Bob!!
I have the same sleeves as adam, they are on an Or dragon deck
Be honest... how frustrated were you that Steves hands covered his battlefield for nearly half of the video?
Never see Firesong and Sunseeker in my playgroup, great watch. Ghalta does....Ghalta stuff haha
Here we have again 1 CEDH player playing 3 non CEDH decks. Man this sure is fun!
I strongly disagree that the Muldrotha deck was cEDH. Stronger? Sure.
Cedh xDDDD, man.. this muldrotha deck is a 1/10 in a cedh table xddd , its just stronger than the other ones but it isnt cedh
I need to know where they got that Jay and silent bob playmat!!!!
Sword of the Anime made me chuckle
I was hoping to see more from the Twinotaurs
Bill keeps a one land draw (who does that?) and then draws land on three of his next four draw steps. We should all be so lucky. I was expecting him to get mana screwed rather than the blue player once the simic signet got blown up.
Anybody has Bill's Muldrotha deck from this video? I'd love to see it.
Why did Bill keep that awful one-lander ? Yeah, he got lucky to find a second land, otherwise he would have needed to crack the Lotus Petal to cast his Simic Signet, yikes !
Games like this is why everyone despises Muldrotha.
can u put again the decklist off deck plzzzz !!! ♥♥
Where’s the deck list?
Are we sure Bill was playing Muldrotha for his Commander and not Sidisi?
Muldrotha ftw
there is a main of that muldrotha.
So, was it just me, or did the Muldrotha player put no pressure on the board, and yet still win?
That's the worst Scavenging Grounds use I have ever seen. Why not just wait until Muldrotha draw step? Those red players that cannot wait a second to waste their resources.
Any chance you have the Muldrotha deck list?
Hope firesong and sunspeaker or Unesh wins
What a boring one sided game imo. Muldrotha is just annoying to play against. Could have been cool as the rest of the Commanders are fun but once Muldrotha got going its just boring watching long solitaire turns. That's just me and no disrespect to the player, just sick of the commander.
Mono black ultrabudget decks that combo off like endrek sahr seem fine against muldrotha or orzhov weenies.
Rip
Hey is there a decklist for the Muldrotha Deck?

Anyone gonna talk about Steve cheating early on?
I mentioned it at the end. It was something they all overlooked.
I didn't wait till the end before I commented lol. I wanted Steve to win. Ghalta is my boy.

Now that's early
Daaaaaamn
I think perhaps the general public should collectively refrain from playing any Simic variations for a year or two, or at least until Wizards of the Coast removes its collective cranium from its collective arse and restores a bit of balance to the useless color pie. I say this with all sincerity to anyone who still thinks Simic is fun: you are mistaken. Please strive to do something interesting, rather than regurgitating the same weary drivel we have been seeing on repeat for the last eon or two. I shall now be opening the lines for angry pro-Simic tirades.
Why didn't he stack his triggers to get the land from sword of the animist first? Then the bear umbra would attempt that land aswell.
2:15
After seeing bills opening hand, "what a jerk!"
Uhmmmm hold on. Why exactly did John give Steve his graveyard to choose what to give back to him? That was not random. How was that not called out?
It can be still random if the only choice is 1...my guess is they were having a bit of fun since they can be seen screwing around and swapping cards throughout the video.
