The best Nissan Leaf video I have seen on CZcams for beginners! First one to explain the dashboard properly. Well presented, easy to understand. Thanks
Look at getting a leaf as my next car and this well presented video has taken a lot of the uncertainty out of going electric thank you for all the invaluable information, great video
Had a Leaf for 4 years, I find leaving the car in B mode all the time is the most efficient way of driving it but that is more a personal preference thing, also applying the brakes increases regen considerably, only when there isn't enough regen to slow the car does it apply the brakes. Apart from that the vid is spot on.
I've made the video for complete beginners and you tend to find that (with beginners) if left in B mode, you decelerate too much sometimes, which you've only got to accelerate back up which uses more energy. But as you say, once you're used to driving an EV, you do what is best for your driving style.
I think we all pretty well agree here but I would add, if you are careful you can control the amount or Regen better in B mode using the throttle. I average better miles per Kwh in B mode.
We've owned a 2014 leaf for a year. Love it. We use economy around town but found the normal drive mode (not B or economy) has better economy at speed and a nicer drive. Looking to update to a used 2018 model soon.
I have only had a new Leaf for 3 months so it's got a few more extra things than this older model, but the way you explained things was great, give you 100%. Thanks and I have added your channel to my list, also clicked on the bell. Thanks from Bob in Kent England.
Thanks for this really useful video. We’re looking at getting a Nissan Leaf and you’ve helped us get familiar with its features before going on a test drive.
One has to wonder why Nissan themselves never thought of coming up with something like this 10 years ago? Supplying a DVD in the glovebox of a new Leaf might have been a good way to do it....
My Leaf had creaking wing mirrors. It's a common problem on these leaf's. The way to cure them is simply. Adjust the wing mirror to reveal a gap between the mirror glass and housing. This must car side, so right would be moving the glass right. In the gap insert the WD40 oil spray extension (thin tube) spray at the top and bottom end. Clear any drop that may come down on the body work.
A well made video; better than most dealers produce for any make of car. Just a minor comment about the usefulness of built in charge timing: lots of us do have day and night rate supplies for other reasons, and even those who don’t (yet) could benefit from it with an EV car based at home. It might also be wise to shop around with some utility suppliers to optimise the running costs for charging one of these (assuming it’s all ‘bought in’ power, not locally generated solar PV).
Great video - many thanks. My query is wtih the brake lights under regen. I have this car and I don't think the lights come on unless the brake pedel is pressed. I feel that they should as in B-mode the retardation can surprise following cars. I think there is a legal G force where brake lights have to come on but presume it is not exceeded by the LEAF. Thanks again. ps - It may be a 'first gen. EV' but I really do love this car!
Brake lights do come on, as they do with ALL EVs at a certain level of slowing down. The Leaf (24kWh & 30kWh) has very low level of regen, so the brake lights often wont come on, but of course the car isn't slowing down enough, so not an issue. Of course they've thought of this and manufacturer's have got it right.
I hope you can help: I'm the second owner of my Leaf and when I'm driving along sometimes I hear a very loud "Miaow"! There must be a sub menu or a sub sub menu with a list of different options for sounds including 'cat'. I spent an hour sitting in my car this morning going through all the menus in front of me and in the sound system without success. It's so complicated.
When stopped at lights in a petrol car I would put on the hand brake and take it out of gear. What do you do in this? The P or the foot break and put in neutral?
The most annoying about Nissan Leaf is the nag screen that you get each time your start your car. My next car for sure is not going to be a Nissan Leaf anymore.

I am planning on buying a Leaf tomorrow, this was a big help. Thanks!

THANK YOU SO MUCH
I am the owner of a new leaf and the predicated range confused me so much. So much of my worries as been erased
Excellent video, the best I have seen on CZcams for a beginners guide to the Leaf.
Thank you.
Thank you. I pick up my 2019 Tekna next week - first time I've had an electric car so this is very useful.

just got 2015 Leaf this week and this video plus other videos of yours helped with this decision Thanks
Thanks for this really useful video. We’re looking at getting a Nissan Leaf and you’ve helped us get familiar with its features before going on a test drive.
Glad it was helpful!
Well done!Well presented, informative and idea for basic understanding of this new technology.

Excellent video explaining so much for a new owner. Thanks!
Great tutorial. Nicely done and thanks. Cheers from Seattle!

So grateful for this video as a first timer. Will be picking up my 2015 Tekna on Wednesday. Am less anxious now
Cheers!

Please explain why it's most efficient not to just keep it in B-mode all the time...?
Hello There, this is a really informative and useful video, thank you for sharing this, it's much appreciated. Cheers Peter :)
Great video. Really helpful. Thanks for taking the time! ;)
This was very helpful, thank you.

Very good. Thank you
Its very helpfull..tnx
Good job mate!!
I just bought a leaf and eco mode I didn’t know that
I really really wish I could get that storage thing fitted in my leaf, the bose sub woofer is such a waste of space :(

Maybe it is the speed cameras notification??

Just hold it on the brakes. EVs don't have a gearbox, so you don't need to treat it like ICE vehicles.
