I know this is a joke, but I really think Melo's decline has been accelerated by the league overemphasized analytics. The most efficient shot is the shot you make. Trying to force a player to take shots outside of their range can only end badly. Look at Westbrook, since 14-15, he's only cracked 30% from deep once. His MVP season.

They make it all day at a very high percentage because thatâs the skillset they practice. And yet, that shot is deemed wholly inefficient because a shot from the paint is worth the same amount at less risk, and a shot a bit farther away is worth more points. And yet, theyâd be less efficient from 3 because that 5 ft between a 3 and a midrange shot makes a big difference. The biggest gripe ive always had about analytics (especially itâs current influence in baseball), is that it fails to measure intangibles

@J&H GN In melos 9 playoff appearances melo lost to the nba champion 4 times and the conference champion 6 times. His team would win 50 games and still be a 7th seed. Just to put that into perspective most 3 seeds in the east win 50 games with the 7th and 8th seed teams having .500 records.
