When they started to release short snippets of songs in advance of the new album announcement this was the song that intrigued me most - and it did not disappoint me at all ... but the live audio (as too often this was a live performance with the studio audio dubbed over for the video - they saved the live audio for the DVD) is so much better with CJ Masciantonio adding his own touches and flavours to the guitar solos and all the other things that make BABYMETAL's live audio better.
Other than that road-runner has already said anything else that needed saying.
Good reaction as always. No arguments on your reasoning, and I’ll echo what everyone else said about checking out the pro-shot actual live audio versions.
While this is not my favorite, most epic, or most technical (musically or vocally), I still love this song. I have the live version in my playlist constantly.

Thank you for doing the reaction, sorry it wasn't exactly your cup of tea, but thank you for giving it a listen with an open mind. And 6.4 is certainly not a bad score, so no complaints here. To answer your question though, the footage was live concert footage from Momoko's first show as a full member of the group on April 2, 2023. Obviously not the live audio, but while a couple of the video effects may have been added in post to make the music video, what you saw on the screens in the background behind them was there during the live show in real time. But Thanks for giving it a listen.
Well, for BM MV it's pretty easy to spot it: if there is Live audio, they put it in the title! Like for the Road of Resistance Live in Japan 😆
They started releasing some more recently, and many fans have been quite pleased about it!

Live video, but studio album music. The good news is that Amuse is changing this trend.
Hopefully. I think a lot of the lip syncing accusations are because of these "live" videos the do without saying that it is studio audio.
The video is of a live show done over two nights. Tickets were on sale for months and sold out both nights.
True babymetal fan here. David you always give a fair score. This one one I enjoy listening to sometimes but never type in on purpose. But realistically wise almost almost almost every song and video I love. Stay metal
Well, in other news, Fate Gear, just dropped their new album, The Vanguard Of Hades. Very interesting album here, to say the least. "This fate" which is their first title track, is a baller.
Maybe their most ambitious album to date here. Being a combination of some new studio singles like Force Of the Holy, Devils Pact.
Along with recent live performances of Unbreakable Wings, Scares of my Life, and even, wait for it Headless Goddess lol. Damn wasn't expecting them to bring back Destrose here.

They have definitely matured a lot and while not my favorite track. You can't fault them for trying new things. However, one thing I like about Fate Gear over Babymetal.

Babymetal has so many that haven't been heard live in years. Su-Metal more mature vocals and experience would bring new life to these classic performances.

If you ( are a person who likes) the electronic stuff you like it. Too much (electronic) nowadays, want to hear a live audio form a performance. Official here I guess means like baseline "first" or original version. New format/concept for this next series/era. Neat looking video.

As a rule of thumb, if you don't see "live" in the title then is not a live sound. It's all good with your honest opinion, i disagree although i gotta be honest i won't look desperately for this song to be played live, in fact during the recent Europe Tour they didn't play this song, they barely played any song from latest album except Monochrome just a couple of times.
Another song with that typical wtf effect they get us used to it.
Queen SuMetal is narrating us a King's tale of the Metal Kingdom with this psytrance mixed with middle eastern, maybe Arabian or whatever sound that looks so cool with the unique blend of BM.
This was at BabyMetal Begins - The Other One - Clear Night live at PIA Arena MM, Yokohama, last April 2nd with the already new official member MomoMetal, she was one of the avengers since 2019 and coming from the same roots in Sakura Gakuin just like the girls. The Western Kami Band was performing there but this MV got album studio sound so there's no particular credits for the instruments only the composer and lyrics.
Some fans at World Tour 2023 were enjoying this song live, but everyone were having a blast with the new singles and classic BM songs.
Without a doubt, this album got a lot of songs mixed with edm elements and I'm down for it, totally my jam.
Btw yesterday they announced they will be for the first time in South America at Knotfest in Brazil, The One is getting crazy, hopefully they will add more countries.

My main gripe with the song is that it's basically the same sequence repeated twice, right down to the solo. One might argue that it's not really a solo, but possibly even acts as a chorus. But it could have been more interesting with some form of variation.
This is exactly my issue.
I understand this song is not everyone's cup of tea. When I heard this first - jaw dropped. Love it, it's close to a nine for me. Could be longer

Honestly I don't know what person would recommend this version. Not even a mention of the Phrygian dominant and just ranting about the studio recording and the digital thing and trying to avoid the supposed "hate" most of your review. Disappointed, David.
Also, visuals are actually a live performance, they never "staged" a music video in an environment like that.

t I'd give it only a 6.9, myself and I am a Babymetal fan. There is a more recent video of them doing it live and it's better than the video that you saw. People forget that "pretty good" isn't a bad score.
I like these ladies and I've heard songs from them that made me want to see more and hear more however this wasn't in my wheelhouse at all
Well it was part of the wave to make special songs for concerts in different countries. Often enough the countries didn't necessarily identify with the song that was done for them. It was often enough designed for a theoretical situation and often enough without any real.ecperience of this culture.
I figured this wouldn't be high on your list. After viewing a "few" of your videos, I knew this wasn't your cup of tea. But as always, you have presented good arguments for your rating, so I have no complaints. And I want to believe that The One is a peaceful crowd and wouldn't resort to namecallig or even threats. Keep 'em coming.

This is a divisive song even within the BABYMETAL community, love it or hate it kind of deal. Personally I was excited for this one while they were teasing the new songs with snippets before the album came out, some of the elements gave me Combichrist - Blut Royale vibes with the industrial feel and I think, for me, the full song delivered. But I understand and respect it doesn't resonate with everyone.

People keep getting excited by BABYMETAL Official MV's without realizing or caring that they do not include the following:
Actual LIVE audio
Actual Kami Band instrumentals
Actual crowd responses
Awesome intros
HQ Pro Shots exist and are superior to Official MV's

Your post from the first word to the last is 100% accurate. I take the approach that these MVs or Official performances still sound great. They are an introduction to first time listeners, and I do not recall a comment saying they “sound bad”, except those who just don’t care for BABYMETAL. For members of The One, we have our preferred live performances on our play lists, to enjoy whenever we want. Again, my goal in supporting any BABYMETAL performance is to spread the “spirit” of BABYMETAL: joy, happiness, fun, respect. 🦊 🖖❤
Babymetal fans are intense with their appreciation of the group but they're not unreasonable like some.. other fans 🤣 It's not my favorite song by any means and I knew you'd dislike the absence of the band. It's no surprise it had a low score, nobody is going to give you shit over it. We appreciate the honesty above anything else so keep doing what ur doing! Appreciate the reaction!
I wish Babymetal would skip these pretend live videos. Just do the actual live sound. Soooo much better all around. The point of the song is the message. 👊🏽⚡️🤘🏾🦊

Jokes aside, It's ok DH. It was bound to happen, eventually, given how many songs BM has.
Also, 6.4 in the new scale is pretty ok for me. In fact I'm curious about how Road of Resistance would be scored. You gave it more than 9 first time you heard it, but it was in the old system.
And, we all value your honest and professional input, giving it a fair evaluation, even if you dont feel the song itself.

From what I can see in the video I recommended, it doesn't look like a compilation.
It is the same performance from PIA Arena with intro and subtitles, in addition to 4K and live audio.
If I'm wrong, please correct me.

@@alvaroramos7138 I am still wondering why someone requested this official video, especially after what happened with Metal Kingdom. Which David still didn't go back and prioritized the newer live performance of Metal Kingdom as he said he would in the MK reaction.
Finally getting insync with your more strict scoring system, was thinking this will get a 6.5. I enjoy this song when in a right mood, otherwise...well, the score is very consistent with your way of things, so no complaints here. Now just wondering, taking your views on digital music, what would you say for Ratatata? And btw, that one somehow seems like something mrs. Heretic might enjoy more, so i recommend you both check out Ratatata..taa-taa..
its a good song. i like it. but we do need a live version of this. i dont think ive seen them do this live. just at the pia concert.
This song is, for me, an auto skip. I would get hate by the fandom with my rating. Its a space filler imo, a mini experiment. not every BM song wins imo. top 10 of my less favorite songs they ever made. possibly bottom 5

Now, of course, I disagree. It is not their best song, to say the least, but Babymetal has songs that I like less than this one, and for which you gave a higher score.
So the score is a little bit harsh, in my view.
If you really want to give a negative scoring to a Babymetal song, try "The End", you won't be disappointed (

Honestly, I don't like this song either. I listened to it once and that was enough. The entire last album is my least favorite. I went to their concert in Warsaw 2 weeks ago and I'm very happy that they played many older songs. They are much better.

Genuine question though. Are babymetal fans generally respectful? I haven't noticed a lot of rude fans. Sometimes when the reactor says something disrespectful like I heard one guy call their dancing garbage, he got hit over the head, then one guy said he didn't like them because they didn't play their own instruments a lot of people were asking him what some his favorite robert plant riffs were, he eventually stopped accepting comments but you are always more than respectful. That's something I really appreciate about you. You could listen to the go go's and say something nice about them.

It's usually a small number, but I can always count on at least 2 or 3 people to get blocked with their rude comments, name calling, and verbal attacks.

It is terrible you have to pander and explain to the shallow fans from any band. The issue is with them, not with you.
As you explained, all digital and Su, may have spoken the words and they could have been digitally mixed for this song.

This is one of my least favorite Babymetal songs as well, if not my least favorite.
Totally agree with the score (I would go lower tbh). This is the worst Babymetal song IMO.
