5mario wii u (I've never played it and I simply don't like the controller design since I've played xbox it confuses me that A is X and etc)
4mario bros luigi (I've never played it and it this game is supposed to revolve around mario this just feels of and also I've never played it)
3smb2 while I really loved the golden flower and propeller and how much coins there were. Money loses its worth when you get too much of it and this really occurred here the money really losed its value after a while it just wasn't collectiong every last peice and just running while shooting the golden mushroom like cutting a knife through butter just wasn't very fun a bit too easy thought I really liked the idea with the clown car introduced here if I'm not mistaken it was this game right?
2nsmbwii I really think this one was very underrated it had such cool new stuff like the propeller and penguin which I both loved and while some of the levels were questionable and very similar qnd unoriginal from other nsmb games it didn't really matter beacuse the fact that you played with a wii remote made it feel new in itself.
1nsmbds do I even need to say anything? Nothing ever beats the original og version of a game it was the same with mario kart ds. This game was perfect the only thing I would complain on if anything then that's that I think there is a bit too many shortcuts to skip levels. I just recently got back to the game for nostalgia and I wanted to do everything 100% but since I tried so hard to look for secrets and such I accidentally more than once found unwanted shortcuts that skipped like entire worlds and I also didn't really like that there wasn't a quick save when you actually needed one. What I also didn't like was how east some of the bosses were like I mean if you had a fire flower it was just like a automatic win you could just spam it and that really ruined some of the boss fights for me but besides all that this game was awesome and it also introduced the mini games and I'm having a seizure trying to figure why it isn't in any of the other games like it was literally the best part of the game

The original nsmb is my favorite. I like how unique it is compared to the other games in the series. Plus there were also mini games and Mario Vs Luigi is a really fun mode to play
I agree. It was also the first 2D Mario game since Mario Land 2. Like, it just felt like a breath of fresh air and also the fact that it was the only NSMB game to have original bosses.
I hate it when people call the nsmb games unoriginal crap when they haven't even played it. Ds has one of the best bosses I have ever seen, wii has some great power ups and the best multiplayer in the series, 2 has a really cool coin mechanic, and U's graphics and art style is amazing.

Honestly, I would rank the wii one higher. Its the one I grew up with, but it introduces so many new power ups while two introduces one. The controls also feel more fluid

Also its the game that finally added multiplayer into the Mario series
And it actually made quite a impact for multiplayer in platforming games because even other games used the bubble&Rescue your partner system like the Rayman games Origins and Legends and Cuphead.
Id say its the second game that added most to the series, the first being the original game on ds.
Id say that what kills ds and wii for me was the level design.
Ds is too bland and wii was too empty.
On nsmb2 they finally did the level design right but what killed it for me was the dificulty, the game too damn easy even for the nsmb standards.
And Nsmbu was just...underwhelming, its basically nsmbwii but with better level design however I found the powerups on wii better.
Thats it, if they had at least changed the locations themes and the music the nsmb series it would have been so much better for me.

My list would be
6: SMR (Just for fun)
This shouldn't count because it plays slightly different but it reuses a lot of graphics and enemies so I put it on here. This is a mobile mario game, so you can't expect much. The REMIX 10 is a nice touch, and it's good that you can play to collect all color coins, unlock special courses, and build a kingdom, because if there was just 24 levels and that's it, this game would be done in half an hour. It's also overpriced.
5: NSMB2
Good game but it only changes the art style a bit and it adds many ways to collect coins. It also felt way too easy and a lot of things were taken from the wii (bosses, music, etc.). There was still some nice level design though, and while they focused way too hard coins, they did make it satisfying to collect coins
4: NSLU
It's more of a challenge with tight design and it's not a bad game. Still, it's just Mario Bros U: The Lost Levels. So I know it may not seem fair to rank this game this low for that reason, but they could have done a little bit more, like maybe make the bosses a bit more challenging or something like that.
3: NSMBW
Now I understand how you wouldn't like this game because of the empty space it has, but to be honest, I think Nintendo wanted everything spread out because they thought that would help out for 4 player multiplayer. This concept of having all four players at once was really something new they were trying out so they probably thought spreading things out a bit would make it easier to navigate. I think they still wanted to focus on level design and if so there still are a lot of cool new things they added and expanded on. So it's pretty loose and it does have bland design but I still find it fun especially with friends.
2: NSMBU
This game is misunderstood. People think nintendo ran out of ideas for this but the truth is, I think for this game, they just wanted to make a game out of all the cool things in 2d games preceding. So I don't their goal for this was really originality anyway. This game is also fun and has amazing theme design, and I'm glad that there are at least a few new songs as well. Great game, and you are right. If this was the only game in the series, we'd be begging for sequels.
1: NSMB
While the graphics were uncomfortable and the audio a bit strange, if you treat this like one of the older games, you'll love it. It brings a lot of cool new ideas and is as you said, the only new game in the series. It's one of the best DS games in my opinion and it's actually really fun with amazing design. Sadly it is seen as among the other games and with so many games in this series, people can't really enjoy them.
I actually love this series though because even if it was repetitive, I still somehow found everything fun. I also agree with many points you made on your list. Good day.

In my opinion the list should go like this, try to be as OBJECTIVE as possible without being affected by nostalgia:
NSMB2: does not add anything new, just inspired, just a new power up, it is enjoyable and a lot, but it remains very short for what had already been achieved.
NSMBDS: they may hate me but in my opinion it goes here, it is one of the best mario games in history, it is simply surpassed by those who will go later, but the level design is spectacular, the most inspired of all definitely not being over-exploited initially.
NSMBWII: If you're wondering why I put this game above DS and 2, I only reply with one word, MULIPLAYER, the big factor that ends up making it better than previous ones, your levels now have to be as much of a good player experience as more, and that if it succeeds, in addition to the triumphant return of the koopalings. inspired like the one of ds but with a victory over this for the new possibilities of the multiplayer.
NSMBU: Objectively, it is true, U is the best 2d mario in history, but there is no merit to that reason, you will wonder then why I put it above all, the answer is simple, the saga was over-exploited so much that with each The game was a little better (not counting 2) and of course, if you repeat the same thing many times, but each time a little better at one point you will have something perfect. sadly, it hurts me too that the least inspired is the best.
As for NSMLU, it depends on whether you are casual or not due to the difficulty, above or below NSMBU depending on whether you like the challenges or not. but just for the fact of being the same as the NSMBU but with more difficulty I think it does it objectively better, I like you very much Luigi, but unlike how it is with the LM saga you do not deserve much merit.

Nice video! I probably would have put the New Super Mario Bros. U lower on the list on the though. I remember playing it on the Wii U and not seeing much of difference, getting disappointing/bored and not picking it up again. However after watching your thoughts on it I'm thinking that maybe I should take another look at it. I had no idea it had a challenge mode until you pointed it out just now

Just discovered this channel and I loved this episode! Although I just say that “the one no one bought” joke at NSMB U’s expense at the end might’ve not aged the best now that NSMB U Deluxe on Switch has outsold the original several times over. Last time I checked it was easily above 10m copies sold just in Switch.
NSMBU is actually a great game, people at that point just didn’t see it and were bored.

New Super Mario Bros Wii's final boss phase 2 was pretty dope though! For me it was the U version that I favored the least and my favorite definitely had to be the original New Super Mario Bros on the DS. Oh and hey your number one pick is respectable haha maybe I just need to replay the switch version.
There is one thing, that made NSMBU one of the worst in the series in my opinion.
THE SECRETS!!!
For example, I can remember one desert level, where there was a randon invisible block, with a vine in it over a random sand pillar, with no clue at all. And it was necessary for a star coin.
At another part of the SAME level, there was a fake wall over a one block high gap in a normal wall on the right side of a stone pillar. So you have to go past the pillar, decide to turn around and run full force against the pillar and be small or duck at the right time to find that secret. And there again is no clue to that at all. And it necessary for a secret exit.
And in this game secret exits are necessary for 100% as they lead to secret levels, which have star coins.
This game just has the worst secrets in the entire series. And I think, that secrets are a important part of an game, as they support exploration.
Renaming them at the end was pretty funny. Reminded me of scott the woz
I'm surprised he put Wii so low, I really enjoyed that game.

Okay I was not expecting the Wii one to be the first one knocked out. I was expecting either 2 or Luigi U (the latter because I'm assuming most people don't realize how good and underrated that one was).
I am surprised that you ranked Wii at last place. Wii is my 2nd favorite game in the series, behind the original game on the DS.
I am so, so in love with the Land, Desert, Water, Ice, Jungle, Rock, Sky, and Lava type of Worlds in Mario Games. I was so disappointed when Mario Odyssey didnt really implement it. Am I the only one that loves Super Mario Bros Wii?
Those games are great but for me DKC Returns and DKC TF are on another level. DKC TF especially, the game is one of the best 2D platformer of all time.

DKC was always on another level than the Mario ones...nothing against Mario, I love those games as well, but DKC were always way more creative, challenging and definitely had the better soundtracks and graphics.
dude you didn't say anything about all the amazing minigames on the first NEW game which makes it 1000% better than the rest. And the versus mode was super fun to play with friends

I would have switched out New Super Mario Bros 2 for Wii. 2 was just so boring and added nothing besides the tanooki leaf. Wii has been carried by the fans, as the Newer series adds so much fun content. For U, I didn't like it when it first came out as there had been so many games where they changed nothing. Although now I can look back at it and say it is a fun home console version. DS was also the definitive version, imho.
If you can get your hands on a modded wii with Newer Super Mario Bros, I'd say play that over everything. Or you can play it on an emulator.

Anybody love NSMBWii? I just love it because the wii was a console that everybody could enjoy from young kids to full adults so it meant families could pick up a wii remote (or other controller) and have a fun time witch could form some great memories and why people love the game so much
I only played wii with my cousins on their wii, and with 4 players it's great. I understand now that it would seem empty on your own, but if you look at it as I game designed for 4 players, it worked really well for me. I know you can't really look at it as a game designed for 4 players, though, it should be more accommodating of 1 player

What's up with the dislikes? It's an unusual ranking, but the production value of this channel is high compare to most mario channels with few subscribers, especially compare to those that made a ranking of the nsmb serie, of which they are surprisingly few, I found out.

Why fix something that isn't broken, I love all the games and nsmb 2 holds a special place in my heart.
If this series raised its standard to the same level as Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze in terms of art style and had more cinematic music rather than all the "wahs", I think it would have gone over better. But each version's presentation mostly looks like an upscaled DS game with low effort.

Honestly, I disagree with NSMBW being the worst because I still felt like the Wii entry still had a lot of new ideas like the Koopalings making a return since Mario World, playing with 4 players, being the first home console 2D Mario game, I still felt like it way more refreshing despite it being a bit more bland compared to the DS entry. So, that’s why I think NSMB2 is my least favorite in the series simply because there’s so little new in that game since the only new thing is the whole collecting a bunch of coins, but other than that, it kinda just feels like a handheld version of NSMBW.
