- In this vlog, we're visiting El Jem (or El Djem), Tunisia. This city in the center of Tunisia is home to one of the largest and best-preserved Roman coliseums outside of Rome! I'll also show you what it's like to take a 'louage' -- a Tunisian minibus.

I just visited that place last week and still feel emotional. Beautiful places, these colosseum is amazing but the Tunisian people… is in another level…! Un saludo desde Mèxico a mis amigos de Tunez!
The Tunisian people is a friendly people.
What you mean?😒
You are more than welcome to come back anytime to our beautiful country
what do u mean ,, ?
You were on he verge of insulting and then you choose to say a brief good word later,, not nice

It is mind-blowing that a such historic and ancient place is deserted. Tunisia has all what it takes to be amongst the best international touristic destination. Everyone should visit it.
As a Tunisian I can confirm that. There are al lot of places to visit, and glad you liked it !
Merci

Same thing for your country. You have a whole Roman city that needs to be prepared and become the focus of the world's harm. Tunisia and Algeria followed Roman and had a lot of relics. But our successive governments don't give it a significance.
I didn't know alot about Tunisia.
Its a beautiful country!
Thanks for your videos Doug.
thank you for watching!!
Very beautiful 🇹🇳❤
Tunisia has an incredible history , looks well there ha !!! I wanted to visit Morocco or Egypt next October but it seems you changed my mind Doug as i m History lover . let see yeah :) !

You should really visit el Jem during it’s classical music festival. The colosseum at night with all the lights is just breathtaking and listening to beautiful symphonies in that historic monument gives you an out of this world feeling. Thank you for giving such beautiful image on our small and yet beautiful and historically rich country. Next time don’t hesitate to seek help from the locals beforehand they will give you all the right tips and show you the best places. Peace and love from Tunisia 🇹🇳
What is beautiful in Tunisia is the contract. from north to south, the landscape changes completely, from beach and forest to desert and sand dunes. To the north, Bizerte, Béja, Tabarka and Ain Drahem are fantastic, breathtaking landscapes. Further south, Sousse, Monastir, Mahdia with the catacombs, el Jem .... Further south, the desert and the Berber sites and the waterfalls of Chebika and Tamerza. Many thanks for you Doug. Every time I see your videos, I realize that Tunisia is more beautiful than it looks.
Man, you navigated the Louage situation like a boss! It would trip any Tunisian who is not familiar with that exact area that you are going to, so you handled it perfectly.
haha thanks a lot!!! surprised to hear that! 😁

Merci Mohamed 👏
The drone shots were incredible.
Thank you for visiting us, you're welcome to come again always.
Here some answers to your questions:
*The guy heading next to you in the station is working based on commission every passenger he brings; he will get a commission on the sold ticket, it is weird I agree.
*The louage stops in a small town called Swassi which is in Sousse province, the name is quite similar to Sousse.
*The rooms in the colosseum are cages where animals and gladiators are kept,
It is great that you have been able to go to the top of the colosseum it was closed until recently. Also, the view with drones is amazing, happy you have been able to use it because is not allowed unless authorization; I suppose.
Swassi : town in the province of mahdiya near El jam ☺️
and the guy outside the station is a louage driver who don't respect the rules and want to find places before the ones who is waiting inside
We dont do that at tunisia sorry dude but u r wrong , tunisian are more believing in sufism , and one of the sufia morals is to help everyone who need help

Thank you for being honest and promoting positively our culture , hope you enjoyed your journey ❤️
In 2019, i’ve been to el jem’s coliseum and i was like fascinated by how roman architecture is overwhelmed by its own greatness and especially when some local citizens there they told that a lot of gladiator’s movie sequences were filmed in this unesco world heritage site ! ( ps: you can even notice that my profile picture has been taken there ! ) 🇩🇿❤️🇹🇳

You cannot imagine the complete shock I felt seeing such a relic the size of the Roman colosseum completely empty. That's good though, because then it is a hidden gem :)
