I find creative writing and poetry to be the hardest form of writing there is. I was always pretty good at academic and persuasive writing. It’s creative writing that intimidates me.
I have a degree in creative writing but still clicked this video because Shaelin explains concepts so well lol
*Fiction is about the things that can't ever be finished or explained or fully understood; it's about the places we can't ever reach.*
David Vann author of Goat Mountain.
As you said you have a degree in creative writing I also want to be a writer I'm in 10th standard I have written things but i don't know what path I should walk on to reach what I want to achieve help me if you see this
@@crack10th it depends on what you want to achieve! I'd recommend researching writing programs if you are considering studying creative writing in university :)
@@sarahumlaut thank you for your advice and I wish you luck for your career as a writer
I am in class 10 I don't know anything about creative writing please tell how to write it's introduction of everything plzzz
I love the don’t try and make it perfect tip. That’s a major reason why I don’t write much. I look at and think, “well that’s crap.”
as a student who immediately gets terrified whenever teachers give out narrative assignments, your content was really helpful. realizing that there basically isn't any rules to creative writing, definitely boosted my confidence. thank you and please keep up the good work
Creative writin was what got me into fiction writing. Best clas I took at art school.
This is Great advice - just the catalyst I needed to get back into writing. Thank you!
College in the 2009 to 2010 era I took a class called creative writing. It was all book reports, nothing actually creative about it and Ive been upset about it ever since.
I'm definitely going to focus on short fiction for now because it's a whole lot better than attempting to write the first book of a series. Long story short, it's a lot more than I can chew.
Truly Grateful for this video topic
This is so enlightening. I now understand creative writing better. Thank you.
Thank you so much, your videos help a lot ..
This is amazing, I am a documentary photography and I have been struggling on upgrading with amazing storytelling style to make my works more interesting. I have decided to learn writing and this my first video on tube is motivating that I have made a great choice. I can’t wait
Solidifying my script writing for graphic novels👍.
Practice over perfection 100%
Highly appreciate that last tip. I'll have to beat that lesson into my head.
Do not be held back by an unattainable standard of perfection : Shaelin's advice is sound as ever.
What's exciting is that you can read perfection and learn from it, improving your skills all the time.
Whether you write stories, novels, plays or even narrative nonfiction read *The Art of Dramatic Writing* by Lajos Egri
In Chapter 5 he quotes a scene from Ibsen's Hedda Gabler in which 'three fully rounded characters stand before us' so distinctly.
But it is *a unity of opposites* because these fully imagined characters each have very strong convictions.
'No playwright can line up such people - all of them so utterly different - without a well-defined premise,' writes Egri.
*Hedda despises Tesman and everything he stands for. She is unrelenting. Can she corrupt him - the soul of purity & scrupulous honesty ?*
very informative
This video is so helpful😊
Creative writing ✏️ is something I would relate to
Thanks for a great video! I jumped right into a high fantasy series a few years ago, and it's been a fun learning ground =)
Which series ? Can you please tell me here ? Would love to give it a shot
Just to practice my writing skills, I'll leave a comment. There ya go.
It's the basic stuff but good to review! I force myself to leave my comfort zone and write things I'm not used to. Like about monsters, ect
It's one thing to be ..half hypnotized in the classTOMB, It's a different stroke.. of luck .. building foundations from scratch..good job on this..and the channel ...You're going places... Like a stewardess...
It was a great explained! Could you please talk about the best places to study crrative writting?
I do write books inspired by my own life, but more in the fantasy genre. For example, I self-published my first book I wrote was inspired by my severe brain injury.
Oh that's great what is the name of it ?
❤❤
I don't think there are any limits to creative writing, but the understanding of them can help to make complex things more readable to others who aren't at that level yet. But being able to write so complex allows others to have courage to write that way because a lot of people I know are afraid their writing won't be understood, but there are writers who will understand and readers who will love the complex weaving of your story!!
Writing expressively to entertain, inform, perhaps educate.
What means 'incorporating the sentense " ........" ' please answer ma ,thanks

St Augustine said he knew what time was but he did not think he was able to define it in language.
We know what creativity is when we hear Lang Lang playing Fur Elise (CZcams) but no music scholar can define Beethoven's genius.
John Updike learned to write from reading Henry Green; from Green he learned how to play language as young Lang played his Steinway.
A teenage girl in Naples was haunted by a sentence in Madame Bovary where Emma Bovary studies her own child with cold eyes :
*C'est une chose etrange comme cette enfant est laide !* ( It's strange how ugly this child is ! )
Feeling unattractive and unanchored, the Italian teenager read Flaubert's novel as if being struck by blows; the bruises never faded.

Where can I buy your books, Shaelyn? I have tried over the last year, but cannot get them 😢 im in the UK.
Look in the description of one of Shaelin's videos on Shaelin Writes personal youtube channel. She has a bunch of links to her published short stories.

I would rather do poetry and write in my diary or journal more than storytelling
