Asul=blue (pronounced assool)
Rojo=red
Rosa=pink
Nigra=black (pronounced neegra) [be sure with a lot of the spanish, make sure your r's roll with your tongue!]
Amarillo=yellow (pronounced amariyo because two l's make a y sound)
Naranja=orange
Trabaja (j has an h sound. And two l's make a y sound. Pronounced trabaha)= work
Escuela=school
Chica=girl
Chico=boy
La mujer (pronounced lah muhair)=the woman
Hombre (pronounced ombre because h is silent) =man
Nombre=name (Mi nombre es ____.)
Es is the equivalent to is.
Comprende=comprehend, or understand. I always say this, when I don't understand enough spanish for a full conversation: "Lo siento, yo no comprende español, yo habla inglés. Tú comprende inglés? Gracías!" (I know it isn't perfect but oh well)
Translates to: "I'm sorry, I don't understand/comprehend spanish, I speak english. You understand/comprehend english? Thanks!"
It MAY sound different, because I think in spanish, certain words are used before or after other words than what we're used to in english. Like for an example: "Me gusta la camisas asul!" In english, it'd kinda be like: "I like shirts blue!"
But in spanish, it's normal because you'd be saying, "I like blue shirts!"
