There is a video on this project called 'DITTO 2a - Loading & Unloading'. 3rd video in the list inside your Ellusionist account which covers some of the negatives mentioned by David.
This was added about 2 or 3 days after units shipped when a user mentioned it on a magic forum. But that's covered now for all previous and future buyers (within the videos on their accounts).

Yes! THANK YOU! There is a 4 minute close up file that covers loading and unloading! I think its easy to figure out, but it's nice to have it now

you need to go to the DITTO instructions - it's in the side menu underneath "overview" it says "loading and unloading"

When I was a kid in the early 60s, for my birthday my dad bought me a trick that was similar in working. It was a small, (although much larger than it should have been), goofy looking stand which held 4 colored wooden rods each about the size of a golf pencil. The stand did the exact same thing, the read was very similar, but the thing was noisy and the stand really didn't have a reason for being there or being so large. I don't think it really came with any sort of routine. I did it for some of my friends once and never used it again!
This Ditto version of color match solves all the problems of that trick I had so long ago.

Respect to Ellusionist for developing something new. I do not like this effect at all, but I get the feeling that the methodology will evolve into something great. This is something TA Waters would have developed.

I have a question David do you have to be a certain distance from the pen holder for to work? I have the original color match and I have the cheap one from China, they have never failed me
you have to be able to "see the holder" with your eyes - so however far back you can stand and still see it
I'm so fortunate that this review exists. This just came on my radar and the honesty helps me make a better decision on investing in this. Thanks David.

Can this be used to do what the Picasso Pro app does?
It can. But you'd need 5 or 6 people in a row to take a pen first. Instead of getting a peek for each pen.
They all take a pen. Put in their pocket or hide the cap while your back is turned... then when you turn round, you can give the instructions to each participant.
It's a bit of a compromise - but it's also $200 to $500 cheaper than other versions. So each to their own. :)
I’m glad I didn’t purchase this even at its discounted release price; I’m gonna stay with my stuff from the future 😊 and maybe get this sometime if it’s heavily discounted.

I have a method to do this already. That costs like less than 10 bucks. 20 at the most if you have nothing
The point about lighting is VERY important. This is worse than the electronic version. You will NOT be able to see what colors are selected unless there is adequate lighting. The brightly colored markers are okay, but everything else is a crap shoot. Be warned before spending your money on this. In the tutorial, as you said, he is sitting right next to the device in bright lights. Will not work in a stage setting. Period.

@@magicorthodoxy based on what you described with where your eyes should be, I can kind of guess how this works now. I know electronic thumpers are a method but this doesn’t use that.
