I can't believe the clearance ring was as cheap as it was. It looks like it took way more time and effort to make than the one that was just a big ass rock. Looks way better too imo.
Retail on diamonds is the bigger the stone the bigger the cost. For an average stone SI2 clarity G-H color it’s about $5,000 a carat for rounds (full blown retail can be up to 6,300-6,600). Her center consisted of 4 princesses (princesses are a less sought out stone shape making it even cheaper) assuming they were each a quarter carat with the same quality each stone would be $200 retail. Making her center 4 stones only $800. Whereas one big center stone that is a full carat would be $5,000+. Just a little break down from a fellow jeweler and goldsmith. (: In my store we would’ve sold her that clearance ring for about half of what she paid on clearance, about $3,000 probably even a little less for great natural diamonds. She got ripped off in my opinion. Same with a lot of the rings shown here in this video.
The diamond industry really brainwashed people into paying all that money for them, too. 😂😂

I need the old guys deduction skills to be applied to every man (or woman) out there who wants to pick a wedding ring for their spouse. Some of those reddit posts about spouses not knowing what would match their SO's personality is quite scary. Its like, people, you wanna marry this person, but you don't know WHAT THEY'D LIKE?! It's insane. Learn your spouse. Don't take the next step. Marriage is supposed to be a commitment to each other, you guys should KNOW better and when you're able to say you do.

Absolutely. Throw a little party with your friends and family, get her a $50 ring, buy something that'll lay a strong financial foundation to your couple (jointly bought index fund for instance), then travel with whatever's left.

For all the future ladies out there - please look into the diamond industry and the meaning of "blood diamonds." This was a huge factor of when I chose my wedding set! Also, be careful of the certificates of being "ethically sourced." I would definitely recommend moissanite or lab grown and ethically/environmentally sourced. ❤
I’m not the hugest fan of diamonds personally I really love colored stones.
Lab diamonds are mostly made in China using slave labor and have no regulation.
