    I sadly only have a big tank that is only not even half full. Ik it’s bad but I have no choice. The only filter I own will get overflowed if I have more water. Also the tank isn’t meant to hold water so I can’t add anymore cause of that either. It’s ver stressful that my turtles are in the greatest quality but they are doing fine as of rn. I’m making sure it stays as clean as possible. I am currently trying to get the money for a way better tank and get a canister filter. But my family doesn’t have money for it

    I have a tank this size but only has approximately 8 inches of water in it. I have two baby musk turtles which are around an inch in size. (I'm in the UK) Musk turtles aren't that great at swimming, especially the smaller one of my two. So the volume of water is fine for my set up. I'm just suggesting maybe you should be more specific with which species of turtle to the water volume. I know if I filled my tank up like yours with my turtles they would definitely struggle.

    • @LongLiveYourTurtle
      @LongLiveYourTurtle  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey! That’s a great point, you definitely have it right. When they are a little bigger and you start running out of space to match the magic rule you can use this setup but add lots of internal ornaments/driftwood/stones to make a steady ramp up to the additional ramp so they can reach their head out of the water without being in the basking area and also just walk right up. Might take some experimentation. I’ll be more clear in my videos in the future! Thanks for the comment!

    Crazy .. just started looking around my setup pretty much looks exactly the same . My only problem is my turtles have refused to go up the ramp to bask . Even attached an extension to make it easier . Any tips on getting them to be curious enough to go up the ramp to bask??? Or if it just a wait it out thing ? Only had the putter bask pad for a few days

    • @LongLiveYourTurtle
      @LongLiveYourTurtle  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Cool! Typically waiting does the trick. Check that your turtle can climb the ramp (add carpet if you catch them trying by struggling) and that the basking area temp is correct. Good luck!

    So I have this same setup with the thrive basking loft and a Fluval 207 as my filter. I set it up with my filter intake and output on the left corner being my intake tube was already cut short for that side before I had my loft. I find I’m getting a lot of particles getting hung up behind the ramp. I left enough length on my output tube to adjust how high I have it. Right now it’s probably halfway in the water with the flow going under the ramp. Should I cut it so the flow is more at the surface? I’m thinking maybe the flow is kind of creating the problem too. I’d love to get your opinion.

    • @LongLiveYourTurtle
      @LongLiveYourTurtle  Před 6 měsíci

      You can certainly provide feeder fish for turtles, however it is not a good daily meal if you want to make sure your turtle is eating consistently. Mine get lazy and might stop chasing their food if too much effort is involved ha.

    I have a 75g tank for two peacock slider turtles that are about 6 mo old. I can’t seem to catch them basking and I really worry about shell rot. I tried at first with a full tank of water and used a modified Thrive basking loft. Now I’ve gone to a 1/2 full tank and still they don’t come above water much.
