Shortly after we passed Immigration and got our bags, Sirens and alarms began to go off. Many people seemed confused and in disbelief that they needed to evacuate.
I believe the fire was on the runway due to an airplane that made an emergency landing because the engine caught fire. However terminal 3 was being evacuated along with many parts of the airport. We saw many people running and pacing themselves to the exit, while others just walked as if nothing was happening.
We were pretty nervous because we didn't know what to expect, it was our first hour in the United Kingdom, let alone overseas! The Policemen & Security on sight were ordering us off the elevators and we needed to climb 3 stories to get to the parking area where we were getting picked up by EF College Break Transportation.
Luckily no one was injured, and it was an evacuation to keep everyone safe :)

Never use lifts during fire alarms even tho they get disarmed now with the alarm technology now days 😂
Why are people using the lifts when the fire alarm is going off?!?!
To get to the upper levels faster. But the police came in shortly after to turn them off and get everyone to the stairs
Was there a prealarm and full alarm alerts?
there wouldn't have been a prealarm because there was evidence of a fire on the plane.
Because they are a bunch of lazy idiots who would rather risk their lives than use a few flights of stairs.
itznathyy Pre alarm the full alarm is "Your attention please could all passengers please evacuate via the marked exits do not use the lifts and please follow staffs instructions"

Do they still have this fire alarm system, if they do, can anybody check on the call point what make it is

DAFUQ are people using lifts when there's a fire alarm going off. FFS, people. Do people not learn ANYTHING from school? Lesson 1: Don't run. Lesson 2: Stay calm. Lesson 3: Leave your shit. Lesson 5: NEVER GET IN A FUCKING LIFT.
I keep thinking that's common knowledge, but then I remember when I see morons getting in lifts and walking up escalators everytime the fire alarm goes off in my store.

Why was the terminals evacuated yet the fire was on the airports runway? This is what I don’t seem to get

@@TDSWar the alarms in the airport terminals. In our case we had just arrived in a overnight flight from the states, and had just went through customs. Our driver had just found us all and was leading us towards the parking garages, right before we made it to the elevator the alarms went off and everyone was heading to the exits, because we had a lot of luggage he rushed us into the elevators/ lifts, but we only went up a floor until they automatically stopped and we had to get out a carry out bags a couple of more floors to the garage
