Bless your heart, Alyssa, for making this your last pregnancy. I stopped with 5 pregnancies, 2 miscarriages and 3 full term babies. Each one brought about more problems and I finally knew it was more important to be a content wife and mom with what the Lord had already given me. We had a heart for foster care so we ended up adopting another 3, for a total of 6!
I love that you are so open and honest and are willing to answer everyone’s questions - even if they are uncomfortable!
When I was pregnant I think I felt LESS stress about body image. I didn't have the expectation of a flat stomach, etc. I finally felt like my body was perfect.
Alyssa and John, thank you so much for continuing to share your lives with us. Many of your followers, as is my family, started following the wonderful Bates family years ago on UP TV. Their decision to stop broadcasting Bringing Up Bates was a blow to all ofus. We've watched you all grow up for so long and the idea of it just ending was heartbreaking. You and the other
siblings/souses that continue to share your lives with your fans is a true blessing. Thank you SO much, I know all your fans feel the same!
Yall are so blessed. I always wanted 4 kids. I got pregnant with my daughter at 19. She would be 40 years old this December if she were still here.
Age 22, I had my son. He is 37 years old now, married and they have blessed me with 2 precious grandchildren. I feel super blessed with my little family.

It’s hard losing a child. My second son came at 20 weeks in the days when they didn’t try to save the baby. I miss him still. He’d be 48.
@@vanhag1 sadly at 20wks a baby wouldn't be saved today either - I'm sorry, your baby loss would be just the same today.
There are a few babies now surviving at 22 + wks but it depends on lots of factors if Drs are able to treat the premie.
@@Ghill77777, I had a bad doctor. He didn’t think I needed to have a third baby and did nothing to stop my labor.
So happy they finally acknowledge the sickness I was sick from day 1 to delivery. I’m 60 & the dr just said that is the way it is when your pregnant. So thankful my daughter’s didn’t have to go through it.
You are such sweet person and great mom. I laughed when it was “one time” because I had the same experience and I also was never late so when we 2 days came and went surprise surprise lol. I probably had the same expression on my face 😉. Praying you feel better soon and for a healthy and happy mommy and baby.

Whether you have a boy or a girl is the one thing in life that we don't control! Could be the five Webster girls or the four Webster girls and baby brother. Both wonderful...both magnificent! My sister has 4 beautiful daughters and I have 2 handsome sons. Being pregnant and giving birth were the greatest joys of my life. That’s so hard about having to endure such sickness while pregnant. Oh my, so hard. But SO worth it - 10 months to endure for a lifetime of happiness 😭💗 it works out in the end 💙

you and I are the same age "1994" and I have 4, 4 and under! the big Q I always get asked is if ill have more. part of me hates the idea of " being done" but being pregnant with little kids is NO JOKE. got a puppy when I was pregnant with my 3rd before I knew I was pregnant lol. so much in common, so I feel your "pain."

People say it all the time but honestly for labour (especially ones without inductions) breathing into contractions and keeping moving around makes a massive difference. I did hypnobirthing with my first and it just helped me and then just doing as much research as possible. Even when it comes to breathing down over pushing helps reduce or in my case eliminate the ring of fire with the second x

I'm so sorry you're still so sick. I was hospitalized with our first. I could only keep things down by eating one bite or one sip every 10-15 min. I literally watched the clock. I sure hope the new med works to help you start feeling better. Hugs!

I can totally relate at stopping at less children than you originally planned. I had hyperemesis, picc lines, zofran pumps,gestational diabetes,helps syndrome with liver/kidney failure. Then my three children were born progressively early at 36,35 and then 32wks(after 10wks of hospital bedrest). My husband and I are grateful for the three boys we have, but it was wise to stop.
Congratulations on your new baby. I think it’s gonna be a boy. Try baked potatoes for nausea. They are super bland and easy to digest. They were one food I could keep down in all of my pregnancies. Praying for a healthy baby for you.
Hey Alyssa congratulations on your pregnancy, HG is no joke my best friend has it and it was awful watching her go through it. I totally get why you are done and you don’t think you could handle another one. They actually say that HG gets worse every pregnancy you have. This was such a good Q&A Alyssa you are so candid honest and open, is actually really refreshing to watch. I feel ya on being done, I was always very against birth control until I had my baby boy when I was 33, it was so much harder in my 30's than the 3 I had in my 20's. I know other women have babies into their 40's but I don't envy them! When I was a little girls I would always say "I'm going to have 4 kids" and my mom would say "Oh Amy you don't know what that even means." all these years later my daughter is 23, my oldest son is 21, my middle son is 18 and my baby is 12.
Please keep in mind that there are many women (including myself) who don’t get to conform to their original ‘plan’ when it comes to designing/creating their family. Cancer made me infertile for almost the entirety of my 30’s and then out of nowhere, I became pregnant again at 40-nearly 10 years after I was told I wouldn’t be able to have more. While I would’ve NEVER wanted to wait that long or made the decision to have another that old, it was not at all in my control…so reading a comment like yours ‘I do not envy them’ comes off a bit snarky and insensitive to circumstantial boundaries such as mine.

Yes, I had HG with my son and was put in the hospital twice and and also had an zofran pumping machine I carried around like a purse

My older daughter had to be put on hyperal thru a PICC line when she was pregnant with her first she had HG so bad. With her third one she got it again but was on just IV’s all the time and they put Benadryl in it. That really helped her with her symptoms.
I had that severe morning sickness. I was hospitalized with my son, it was in 1994, and I was so sick I really just wanted to die. When in a bout of horrible retching, I expressed a desire to have an abortion, they sent in a nun to talk to me. I got through it. Then had one more child 5 years later. I have 4 children, now all adults, and of course they were all worth it but boy my heart goes out to anyone who suffers from HGV. They gave me some yellowish syrup for nausea and to this day, any liquid medicine with even a HINT of that color, smell, or taste will make me retch! I was fortunate that my 3rd trimester was smooth sailing- I didn't throw up the whole pregnancies. Bread worked for me but as toast- also the McDonalds orange Hi-C for some reason and sometimes I could eat a breakfast burrito from McDs- I think it helped that I didn't have to cook it- but I had to stomach that smell from the drive-thru! and potato soup! Homemade potato soup because it had to be without onions or lots of weird flavors-just bone broth, potatoes, and a smidge of carrots and tolerable spices. I think I ate potato soup every day for YEARS when you count 4 pregnancies! Thanks for sharing!

April 3rd is a great day. My first born daughter was born on April 3rd, 1994. It was Easter Sunday and I was upset cuz we missed church. Congratulations and good luck! ❤️

Congratultations! I love that you're willing to listen to your body like this. I don't know if you tried this already. I've had this phase where I couldn't get food down or keep it down and I just got to the verge of losing it and asked my brother, who's an EMT, if there's anything that would help keeping at least some down and he told me that these stomach protectors that come with pain killers can help temporarily, shouldn't be used for long. I also relied on mint and limes a lot to relieve the symptoms to at least get light salty snacks in or grenola bars to get easy calories. I discovered the mint by accident when I chewed gum and took a deep breath and it helped, it's been used in some regions' traditional medicine for a long time. I hope you find something that works for you to really get to enjoy this special time.
Also my mom liked frozen grapes for snacks and it helped with something like iron levels and it's kinda like icecream. My parents were always very much about finding a more natural solution if possible and making it healthy while delicious.

One of her daughters ended up not being able to have children because of the medication my grandma took while she was pregnant. So please be careful! I know the pain and sickness is tough but the Lord can get you through anything that’s in His will ❤
