As someone who lives in Texas and loves Japanese food, I have decided that if I ever go to Japan I am dressing as the most stereotypical Texan possible. I already have the cowboy hat, I would just need a belt buckle, a bolo tie, and a texas flag button down. 🤣 Side note, there is a lot of authentic Japanese food in Dallas since Toyota moved here a few years back.

People who say Japan is the future have no idea what Japan is like. Japan was living in the year 2000 while it was still 1980. And have continued to live in the year 2000 for the past 45 years.
It's like where I live in Wisconsin. It's been 2007 for the past 25 years. It feels right on the edge of a major depression, and people are still driving around shiny Pontiacs and mercuries.
This may not be unrelated to the fact that youth voter turnout is low, and the majority of people who go to elections are elderly. Japan is shaping society to suit the current old people.

Advertisement vans are pretty normal in Poland, especially in small towns and villages. It's usually when a new big store opens or when the circus comes there (the second one always happens like 2 or 3 days before and it's every day until the first performance). Ads for big stores are only if it's the first store there, for example when Aldi was supposed to open (first one in my hometown) there were a couple of those vans literally everywhere

For my area rhey mostly advestise "being able to collect your junk for money" aka reselling it for a bigger price or taking it apart. They basically go around town once a week or so during the morning (sometimes waking everyone up but I digress) and they offer some oddly specific services, like sharpening knives and scirrors, fixing gas stoves and repairing umbrellas. I have no idea how this thing started but appearantly they've been around since my grandparents were children, or maybe even some time before that. It's weird little tradition for sure hahaha

I remember when I was like 5-11 I lived in Japan because my dad was military and I lived in a town house I didn’t speak the best Japanese because I lived on a military base full of Americans but I did my best to learn the basics and those load trucks would come and they sounded like American warning systems so I thought I was gonna die because I didn’t understand them 😂
We still have phone booths in Australia, rather than get rid of them they made them all free to use now and converted alot into public wifi hotspots, still see them being used on occasion especially with young kids or homeless people
