Is the door knocker black? I would have chosen silver to match the hardware. But great job. Pretty color.

I’m doing this soon with DB caviar. Our house is grey and I actually did exactly that with Pinterest.

Hi Jenni! Great tips! I have one question for you. What would your prep have been if your door wasn't in the best condition to start with? For example, our front door had been previously painted black with some unappealing drips and brush strokes that are pretty glaring when the light shines on it. What would be the best way to deal with that up front in order to get a super smooth finish when I repaint it? Thank you!

Hi Jenny! Thank you for watching! If your door wasn't in the best shape to start with, I would do some sanding to try to smooth it all out. Sand those drips smooth (or scrape them if they are bad enough) and get yourself a good surface to start with. I hope that works for you!

We are getting ready to repaint our front door. Living in Southeast Florida, with our house facing due east, the sun really beats down on it. It's a metal door so it gets very hot. Do you think the Dixie Bell paint and gator hide can withstand the very hot temperatures or would you recommend another type of paint and sealer? TFS. Hugs from Florida

Great question! I would think about using General Finishes Milk Paint - it's rated as an indoor/outdoor paint that has UV stabilizers in it. I would also use their Exterior 450 to seal it to give it the best chance to stand up to the sun and the weather. Otherwise, it's the same painting process! Hugs from PA!! We were in FL last week and had a great time!

After everything is dry, do the brush strokes shows and how many little cans did you use. By the way everything looks great 😊

It depends on the brush. I use a foam roller to avoid all of that

One question, we do not have a storm door. My husband is paralyzed and in a wheelchair, two doors is a difficult entry. Should I use two coats of gator hide?

Two coats of Gator Hide would be a good idea to really protect your door over time!
