Do you remember when Prince Harry was serving in Afghanistan?
I do! Having friends who were his army superiors during his training and then deployed to Afghanistan at the same time I can honestly vouch he is a genuinely kind down to earth man with no ideas of grandeur and loved by all. Thankfully due to their mothers caring nature both he and William have set new standards re how royalty interacts with their public. Being our future king William has a huge weight on his shoulders thus following certain protocols and breaking a few others and since Harry married Megan he’s had nothing but criticism about his/their life choices. It’s disgraceful what some in the media reports about them, yes he is royalty but he’s got exactly the same right as you or I to choose who he loves and who he marries! I’m utterly sick hearing about racism, it works all and both ways - someone of a particular race disliking another from a different race is racism, people should be ashamed especially considering the only difference between races is the amount of melanin produced in the skin!!!!
Harry I salute you, as a mother I have every faith yours is watching over you with so much pride, the UK lost a National treasure when you moved to America but just like your mother Diana you will always be loved, never forgotten and welcomed back with open arms by the British public.x
@Saquib Niazi Hi Saquib, pleased to meet you albeit digitally. I totally agree 100% without a doubt that absolutely no innocent person deserves to die and especially during times of war. Personally I never judge anyone by their race, skin colour, religious beliefs or sexual preferences etc but very sadly we now live in a world with tenuous relationships between certain countries. William and Harry are not to blame for any wars neither of them have the power nor influence to do so. They both had/have an obligation to ‘abide’ by strict royal protocols but both continue to set their own up to date protocols. For the first time in UK’s history our future king and his wife meets and greets the public by shaking their hands and engaging in full conversation with as many people as they can. Diana met and fell in love with Dodi who was an Egyptian Muslim and just like his mother Harry met his soul mate in Megan and married her despite the controversy re her being mixed race.

In my original post I mentioned William and this was your reply ‘by breaking a few protocols do you mean the killing of innocent Afghans, ow wait I forgot he has a lot of weight on his shoulders’. In that one single sentence you have implied and accused the UK’s future king to be responsible for deaths in Afghanistan. Then in your second comment you wrote ‘I’m talking about all the so many war crimes that occurred ( many who he himself was involved in) during his time there’..... You seriously need to double check the facts before you post for all to see. Due to work, family etc I’ve had MOD clearance since the age of 19, I can confirm Prince William completed his 44 weeks of training in the RAF, worked his way up to lieutenant but he was NEVER EVER deployed to serve in Iraq or Afghanistan.

I’m reading his memoir now and it’s absolutely riveting. I’ve always had a soft spot for Harry ever since he lost his mother at age twelve to the deplorable paparazzi chasing her down and killing her. He has worked so hard to overcome this trauma. I’m sure he has PTSD. I can’t imagine having to deal with paparazzi thugs every time you step outside your home for your entire life. I’m so glad that he and Meghan escaped that crazy life in the UK. This Canadian is so happy for them!

I always had a soft spot for Harry too being about a decade older. It’s fascinating to read his autobiography at this point in my life after watching him grow up in the public eye. I don’t pay attention to what the stupid press says about him. It doesn’t change my opinion of him. He will always be the most relatable and authentic of the Royal family. I’m glad he is living his life on his terms in America with his own family now. And his bio is so riveting and well written.

He didn’t serve. There’s a reason he’s called Bunker Harry and Xbox Harry. The deplorable truth is this: there was an incident where Harry went out with some fellow soldiers and ended up mistreating ladies of the night , assaulted them. it caused a big scene, Afghan police got involved and were set to arrest him. Word got back to Base, quickly he was rescued by higher ranking British Army officials from being carted away to jail, and during this negotiation it was revealed to the police officers that this horrible ginger who beat up the ladies was in fact Prince Harry. He gets brought back to Base, no arrest, no jail, maybe even no reprimanding.
Very little time elapses for word to travel to nearby taliban what had happened to the ladies and that the son of the king was on a base nearby. The base was attacked within hours in heavy firefight, the sun had not even come up yet, and many of the soldiers had to defend the camp at all costs… while Prince Harry, who had led to the base being exposed and under threat, was sound asleep and slept through the whole thing. 2 AMERICAN SOLDIERS LOST THEIR LIVES THAT NIGHT. So don’t tell me or anyone else that Prince Harry deserves mad respect. He’s a scum bag of the highest order.

The entire British Empire started to fall after they lost the US Colonies after 2 wars. WW2 changed the UK's perspective quite a bit and forged the US-UK relationship for many years under the Queen. +William Tyndale dude, It an airbase, you expect them to have one set up on the front line? as for the "machine gun," the firearm he is holding is an SA80 assault rifle, not a machinegun. Its standard issue for the British army no matter what role. they keep one in the cabin with them so that if they get shot down (yes, Harry was at risk of being shot down) they can use it to defend themselves until help arrives.
Prince Harry's role in the army at this point was as an apache gunner, not an infantryman, therefore Prince Harry works in the air and had no obligation to fight on patrols. Harry has been in combat several times, he wasn't just there for the PR.
Despite what you said, many of Harry's own comrades, normal men, have commended his service and accepted him as a soldier, its time you start to as well.

Do retired military members continue to wear their uniforms on occasion in the UK? I know in the USA, veterans do, but not sure about the UK.

Personally I think the restraints of being king would kill Harry. While I think he would make a great king, he would hate it, It would crush him. The position he holds now as brother to the future king gives him enough influence to make huge inroads with charities while having the freedom to get away with his quirky ways. William is more suited to the roll I think.
