I could go in depth with links to interviews with industry veterans and directors, and spiels of how the industry is slowly growing untenable, but I doubt you want paragraphs of words fired back in reply. It's safe to say it's in dire straights underneath the surface.

With shit pay, a shit work environment and shit deadlines, a lot of the same issue with the AAA western video game market, where studios have a non-stop flow of young bright eyed people who want to be involved in the medium they love and so are willing to just burn themselves out no matter the pay or conditions, then getting replaced once used up. And that's besides the level of outsourcing cropping up now also.
Skills and techniques are no longer being passed down to the degree they were outside key studios that train their staff in-house and give them reasonable basic benefits that all should have, Kyoani, Trigger etc.
