      @@gatekeepercreative Ronaldinho was actually an understudy to JJ and copied his tricks… JJ confirmed this in an interview when he said “The former Barcelona midfielder came in from Gremeio in Brazil and as a 21 year old who's still finding his feet in Europe he understudied Okocha. In an interview with Egyptian TV, Jay-Jay Okocha said the then Brazilian youngster learnt a lot from him by copying his dribbles and tricks that he (Okocha) was famous for.”

      @@Jonsnows sorry but that is way overstated. I know the history of Ronaldinho in Brazil and the style he is known for was with him in his earliest years, even before Gremio. And definitely NO DISRESPECT to the great Jay Jay, but of course he would say something like that. Why wouldn't he when you look at the trajectory of both careers. But, even if your assertion were true, it would certainly be a case of the student outgrowing the teacher.

    Football is short of these type of players, playmakers who take over the midfield like a boss and dictate the pace of the creating chances for attackers and quicker players in general, nowadays every wants to be on the scoresheet, opting to shoot from the most ridiculous of positions, while a teammate waits in a better position

    Veo en Okocha una mezcla de Maradona, ubicación en la cancha, liderazgo, cómo va a buscar la pelota y la pide continuamente. La habilidad y forma de eludir, viveza y recursos similares a Garrincha pero más evolucionado.
    En éste partido superó al gran Ronaldinho...

    In my view the best Nigerian team ever was the 1994 squad. The ensueing ones just flatter to deceive, lazy, poor decision making, uninspiring. They failed to groom 1996 Olympic team into formidable outfit. Crucify me, that's my take. I used to like them so much

    • @crackerjack9691
      @crackerjack9691 Před 2 lety +3

      Very well said my friend...Its a Nigerian thing! the talent is not in question. Their isn't a dirt of talents in that country. Rather, what they lack is managerial and organizational abilities. What they have in abundance is unmitigated corruption and lack of accountability at all levels starting from the central government and permeating the rank and file of that nation. As such, the NFA is no exception and the result of this level of managerial ineptitude is what you just adroitly characterized here...and its a shame and a great loss not only to that country but to the rest of Africa and all black nations around the world. So much was expected of them and at some point after 1994, the rest of Africa looked up to them to possibly deliver the world cup for the first time... but I guess we may have to look elsewhere!

      You are just right, so no one will crucify you. The soccer managers will rather owe Nigerian coaches and pay coaches that aren't ready to work hard and get the real talents into the team. Corruption is the cancer destroying Nigerian success.

    Okocha was surrounded by so very average team mates who didn't complement his genius moves & passes. Very static, watching Okocha instead of making runs to confuse the opponents. I don't think in my lifetime Africa will never win World Cup, we've regressed so much since Suarez's jiggery pockery during Ghana match
