I had my best experiences and adventures on Aluminium. It was not a Trek, it was a Focus Hardtail from 1999 what gave me years of joy. Until now I used lighter bikes and more advanced technique but I never had more fun than on that "old" reliable machine.
Your bike Collection looks very logical because every bike offers different ride-options and they really differ.

I'm an Iowa bike boy (57 yo bike boy who gave up his driver's license in 2004 and went full bike) and I agree its the best ride I've owned since 2004, and its all thanks to you, Ryan, that I even knew Priority Bikes even existed. Its in the process now of getting all decked out for touring and personalized. Thanks again for your great videos. You are definitely a wonderful ambassador for the bike world. Nice collection of bikes you got there. I caddied all summer when I was 12 to save up enough money to by a Schwinn Varsity 10-speed. 50 years later I still love riding and love bikes. I currently own a Cervelo C3 and a Giant Fathom 29er. I commute 13 miles to work a few times per week on the Cervelo. I also have an ICG C5 spin bike for cold snowy Ohio winter days. Brine and bikes gears don’t get along.

I’m on my fourth bike during my lifetime. My first, a Monark one speed, was stolen when I was around ten years old. #2 The replacement bike, from a Coast to Coast Hardware store called a Coast King - also one speed. I wore it out from miles and miles of hometown adventures which included riding the strip mine hills and trails on the outskirts of town. It wasn’t a bike for that type of riding, but I didn’t care. Bike #3, Centurion Super LeMans, twelve speed, I still have hanging in my garage. Very rideable still. It’s a combo racing and road bike that I outfitted to ride from CA to Illinois in 1982. And now my 2017 Rad Rover e-bike from Rad Power Bikes in Seattle. If you recall, I sent you a story several months ago of my latest short local tours in CA. Anyway, thanks for your “Leno Garage” tour. Time to go out for a spin right now.

I really want a Priority 600, but I am a trike convert, it's tough to get more comfortable than with a recumbent, especially with a recumbent trike. I'd love to get the Catrike Dumont, doesn't get much better than that one, a full suspension recumbent trike. This whole isolation really wears at me and other riders, where we're used to riding every single day. Now we're in a position where we can't.

Hi Ryan! I did my first real bike tour as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ivory Coast in 2001. Another volunteer had organized "Bike-A-Thon 2000", which amounted to a rotating group of PCVs and some of their counterparts riding across the country from one Volunteer's town/village to the next, and putting on party-like PSAs. I ended up about 500km of the route and really had a lot of fun. I think we were riding Trek 720s, or something similar. My PC experience was kind of rough, but Bike-A-Thon 2000 was excellent!

The New Belgium story is great! I've got a couple 3 speeds... 1963 Schwinn Racer and a 2018 Raleigh Tourist. The 3 speeds see the most use around town, on local rural roads, and on various rail and canal way trails. The trails include the one you and Ali road from Kingston to New Paltz as well as the Erie Canalway.
I've got other bikes... dedicated touring and mountain bikes and I still ride my second mountain bike, a 1983 Trek 850 that I bought new. It was Trek's first mountain bike... or as they called it "rough terrain bicycle." The Trek 850 is the bike I did my first long tour on in 1986... over 3,100 miles. Both the bike and the notion of bicycling touring were rather novel back then compared to today! I've toyed with the notion of riding the East Coast Greenway from FL to NY on the Tourist... the coast is pretty flat and with the Empire State Trail I can avoid the mountains of PA (the way I went on my two previous FL to NY trips). It is a nostalgia thing as tales of early bicycle tourists often mention single speed and 3 speed bicycles!
I keep thinking that we may bump into each other somewhere on bicycles someday... If its around here I know where the best burritos can be had!

You need to get the Trek 8000 out of retirement. It can be welded and fixed. My Fuji road back had a crack in the same spot. Found out right before riding in the Bike the Coast event in Oceanside this past Nov. Anyway, had to have my son take it to work and he and a buddy did a quick weld job. It's nothing fancy and still needs to be painted over, but it held up just fine. Look into it....it can be done. Heck, if you're in AZ, I'll hook you up with a weld to get it done. Always good to enjoy another video. By the way, did a 30 mile ride yesterday in 104F. ugh....

I broke a crank arm once, right through the pedal hole. I was standing up cranking hard and it pitched me over the bars, breaking my thumb that was caught on the brake hood. I landed in the road and fumbled along but didnt fall down, bloodied my arm with out really hitting the ground with my body. Check parts for cracks is my theory now. Also dont ride old junk.

Great video, thanks for showing us the collection! Sorry about all of the stolen ones, but love that you give bikes away to those in need! I'm finally getting back into riding after a bit of a break, been riding since the early 90's. Current collection is a fattie full sus, a gravel bike for touring (Lovecycles pushed me into that purchase and I'm grateful!), my trusty road bike for when I want to go fast, and an old hardtail with the littlest one's bike seat, haha.

With your Trek 800, I love the story behind the bike. Sad to see it break. But I wanted to let you know that Trek may very well replace that bike frame (if you wanted to). I realize that it might have more sentimental value as a house ornament now, but if you did want to get it replaced, Trek would replace it. They have lifetime warranties on their frame. I worked at a trek shop and we replaced bike frames that were FAR older than that, with FAR less damage then that before. They really do mean lifetime. But then again, you have nicer bikes already and you might not even be interested in replacing it anyway since the new frame would just be a random bike off the shop floor, instead of one that has the incredible story that that one has.

Hi Ryan; just discovered you on my computer. You're amazing! Really enjoyed your travel videos. Your videos are well done, interesting to say the least, informative, entertaining, and inspiring. I'm way too old to do what you do now. [ I'm 74 ] however I'm going to take your advice and do more bike touring with my wife. I'm not new to cycle/ touring; have bike toured the California coast, Hawaii, England, Ireland, Italy, France, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Ragbrai, Goba, etc. etc.; so glad that I found you. keep up with what you are doing. If more people were like you, this planet would be much better place to live. My hat goes off to you!!! cheers, Harvey Sadowick from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

Was happy to see you talk about the day a to day practically of your workhorse bicycle. I commuted for twenty two years, twenty six miles, year round in Connecticut by bicycle. I would usually be the only bicycle commuter in southwestern Connecticut and to be perfectly honest I am surprised I was not killed in all those years. Would love to see more videos promoting the bicycle as a practical form of transportation. More cyclists equals safer streets!
