      Great game but a little dated now in combat and inventory management (which was always bad). Still playable and the story, music, lore and characters all set the foundation of a franchise I still love up to today with Andromeda!

      I love the mass effect games and ME1 is one of the better ones in my opinion. All of them are great, but as you will find out soon enough, there are some major problems that occur.
      My advice for tackling ME:2 and 3? Take it with a grain of salt, and enjoy the experience without thinking too much about the plot holes that occur. The characters are great, the story is fine, and the experience in and of itself is amazing. Enjoy the journey of the games, its truly the best part of it.

      So the big question is "how many playthroughs does it take to beat the game?" and I can't even think of it on the top of my head. Dragon Age: Origins has...
      -3 races
      -2 genders/sexes (duh)
      -3 classes
      -4 specializations per class
      -6 origins
      Technically, you would need a bare minimum of 7 playthroughs. Two playthroughs for each of the three classes in order to try each specialization, which inconveniently forces you to choose same origin, Circle Mage, twice. This is not including the Awakenings DLC and bonus content, and you're missing out on synergizing various specializations and classes together for several optimal builds which completely change your playstyle.
      If you want to go deeper, there are 12 possible origin/race combinations and double that if you want a playthrough for both genders.

    • @PyraJord
      @PyraJord Před 7 lety +31

      Personally i would say Mass Effect 2 is the weakest in the trilogy gameplay wise. Mass Effect 2 was just point and shoot. The weapons couldnt be substantually upgraded if at all and the powers and character upgrades are really stripped down.
      Mass Effect 1 has huge amounts of weapons and upgrades. The weapons can be upgraded, grenades can be upgraded, armour can be upgraded... Mass Effect 1 especially on harder difficulties was very strategic involving the correct usage and timings of powers. Unlike Mass Effect 2 or 3 you have to really plan on attacking rather than sit behind cover and heal to the max with regen shields and health.
      Even Mass Effect 3 had deeper gameplay, they allowed weapon upgrades, brang back the Mass Effect 1 upgrade point system back to its glory and improved it with upgrade branches... The problem with Mass Effect 1 is it was early Xbox 360, its rough around the edges and is clunky...

      @CeruleanRogue Před 7 lety +8

      Gameplay wise yes, it hasn't aged at all. Yet ME2 isn't far ahead of it either. The gunplay was probably best refined in ME3 for me, and had Andromeda actually allowed me to access crew skills it'd be another step above that.
      That said, storywise it probably has the least plot hole ridden main story of the games where as the real meat of ME2's glory comes from the loyalty missions rather than the main story itself. Benefit of having Drew Karphysyn as your lead creative director, and his departure showed really clearly when it came to ME3. Which again had moments of greatness, but fell short due to the fact that the man who plotted the entire series was moved onto other projects and his 'baby' as it were given into the hands of someone who didn't understand the overall tone the original author had set out to write. (The story leak also didn't help, but it was Bioware who flipped and decided to write a new ending so that's on them.)

    Is it wrong to ask for a remake of the ME Trilogy? I know there not that old but I think these games deserve to be expanded upon and be given the modern day treatment perhaps with a new engine and a heavier emphasis on RPG elements. Maybe even expand on character background, motivation, and romances as well "Andromeda is out and you still cant get wrecked by a Krogan which is bullshit" Or you know just port the trilogy to PS4 XBONE whichever you feel like doing lol I just want Shepherd and his buddies back in action again.

      PS. Sounds like you'll enjoy Mass Effect 2. It was less enjoyable for me because it's more of an action game and less an RPG (anyone can hack not just engineers) and i loved the MAKO exploration and that's gone. So sounds perfect for you. The reason i prefer 1st ME is the story and dialogue choices are way better and more nuanced. They lose a lit of that as the games go on until the dialigue choices feel like a tacked on feature in ME3.

      Eridang Slampora - Oh man, with more time in the game since my last comment I miss the cannon and the weight of the Mako the most. While my previous comment stands I have "gotten used" to slamming it into sixth gear and maintaining as much momentum as I can so it's not as huge an issue as it was when I started (still not fun though). But the fact that the Nomad has no oomph to it is really sad. You run something over and you don't even know if you damaged/killed it, there's like zero impact. And while the cannon was a bit overpowered at least you didn't have to get out for every little skirmish (or blast past them in my case).

    The original Mass Effect was a phenomenal game when it came out in 2007 and it still is even today. Since then franchise has been held in high regard and for good reason. The planets that you visited were worth exploring. The people and aliens that you encountered were worth caring about. The narrative was interesting and compelling. The voice acting and dialog system were really good. The combat was good but not perfect. Mass Effect 2 improved just about every aspect from the original title. The game's visuals were improved. The combat was way more satisfying. New and interesting characters were introduced. Mass Effect 3 was also a great entry in the series, despite criticism regarding its ending. It was also the most challenging entry in the series thanks to improved A.I. and the introduction of new enemies (Banshee, Brute and Geth Prime, to name a few). So much was at stake to close out the trilogy. Suffice to say, the Mass Effect franchise has been legendary thanks to Bioware's ability to craft amazing RPG's, including Dragon Age, Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire and of course Mass Effect. Mass Effect Andromeda came out a few days ago and the game is a big disappointment, which I'm sad to say. The characters aren't interesting like they were in prior titles (Commander Shepard, Garrus, Grunt, Miranda, Mordin, Jacob, Tali'Zorah, Samara, Thane to mention some names). The story just isn't as compelling as the ones found in prior titles. The dialog, voice acting, character animation and movement aren't natural. The areas that you visit look good but the game's visuals as a whole aren't exactly impressive. Combat is actually fun and the game is lengthy but the experience gets dragged down due to the aforementioned issues. Also worth mentioning is the myriad of bugs and glitches that the game has. I remember reading a Yahoo article a while back stating that key members left Bioware which I'm sure is the reason why Andromeda ended up being such a lackluster release. In fact, the Bioware who created Mass Effect Andromeda isn't the same developer who created the prior entries in the series and it clearly shows in the final product.

      @MtMarshi Před 7 lety

      Eiad Tarabulsi I have to respectfully disagree. The original trilogy was just as bug riddled and badly animated as MEA. MEA is planning out a different story to what the original trilogy had. Lets not forget the original trilogy was, well a trilogy of games, So far we only have one Andromeda game so it simply cant grip you yet as much as three whole games worth of back story, set pieces and character interactions can give you.
      I remember playing ME1 and i though it was "okay" but not great, but now that ME2 and 3 have rounded out the story I now look back on ME1 as a masterpiece, setting up one of the best sci fi stories in video games. And Im getting much the same feeling with MEA. Im really enjoying the story and if they make Andromeda into a trilogy (Not sure if they will after this) then im absolutely certain that i will adore and live the characters and story just as much as i loved the original trilogy.

I don't know if people just suck at driving it or they say that as a pure joke but it is really amazing (except when you get stuck between steep hills). However, in that case, it's due to the environment, not the Mako. I don't know any other tank that allows you to dodge rockets by making the tank jump, nor do I know any other tank that allows you to instantly do a 180 to take out hostiles behind you.
