I book only repositioning cruises as I regard them as transportation options vs. airlines that avoid most of the effects of jet lag. But you need to factor in the cost of the getting to one end of the cruise. So for me the cruise is one end of a longer trip. And having the free time for longer cruises is a requirement. I book when schools are in session to avoid having many kids on board.
But total agreement on the relaxing part.
