- Erica Synths Bass Drum 2 is developed in collaboration with French company e-licktronic and is our take on analogue bass drum circuits adapted for modular systems.
Timeline:
00:02 - Patch 1 - Sequencing the Bass Drum 2 with various gate lengths. Hats are being played from Cymbals module through Black BBD.
00:59 - Patch 2a - Basic tweaking of all parameters.
01:54 - Patch 2b - Adding modulation from Octasource for all parameters02:31 - Patch 3 - Using white noise output from the Bass Drum 2 to create a hi-hat like sound by sending it through the Black LPG
03:12 - Patch 4 - Making pitched sequences with the Bass Drum 2 and utilizing the accent input to make the ratcheting pats lower in volume comparing to the main kick sound.
All patches are sequenced with the Black Sequencer.

Got mine yesterday. It is clearly an update to a more modern sounding palette of kick sounds, which is worthwhile, but the biggest thing for me is all the controls are much better tuned to cover the most usable ranges increasing its 'sounds good everywhere' reassuring nature. It can be even more aggressive, but it can also be more polite and even minimalistic - so we are way beyond it being focussed as an aggressive kick. It also wanders away from 909 character into 808 territory now which will widen its appeal. A well implemented revision.

Looks pretty cool! Through covid I started playing live on Facebook live and CZcams, playing 4 synths at the same time 2 instances of me I and 2 of serum, I hit one key and trigger all four synths and play for over 4+ hours multiple times all freestyle and original! With drums played through reaper, all on the fly

it sounds great but i would have liked to hear what it sounds like with the decay fully closed. i had the v1 and the decay was always too long. it seems better now but i would still appreciate a full list of what was updated in this version
You can get much shorter decay times with the new one!

The decay was too short on the long end as well as I recall (I didn’t keep it long.. upgraded to Jomox)
to mod that whole v1 into v2 shouldnt be such a big problem. think mods comming soon.

how to sequence the gate length with the drum sequencer ? do we need another module like a trig to gate ?

This thing does way way way more than a 909 kick but at 2.30 that's 100% 909 kick through a Mackie VZ or SR mixer overloading the input.

Besides having 3 sequencers malfunctions, I had to make a choice and buy WMD over ES BD Liked ES more but versatility was deciding factor....and 2 days after this came out. What a year for me. Nevertheless, great job, leaving all sweetspot range while giving more flavor + noise out was A+ move IMO!
Aarh okay, I see that the new one has noise out, which is pretty cool and useful, plus an option to trigger with gates.
Any other changes? :)
Tune and Decay settings have also been improved!
