Michael Pate this was a really bad era, there were a lot of absolute scrubs who wouldn’t have been drafted in the early 90’s or the last decade. HS players and the post-Jordan depression ruined the league for a while.

Anonymous User The training staffs on a lot of teams certainly didn’t seem to understand how to manage the muscle mass and speed these perimeter players were displaying. I think it may have been related to doping and less time spent with college training staffs, increasing importance for “in-house” managers who had less understanding of what would have been acceptable minutes and rest time. Still though Nash, Allen, Kobe, Carter, Duncan, Dirk, KG all played a really long time. It was mostly a lack of skill, AAU really fucked up guards and is still doing so. You can see similar patterns with DB’s and WR’s in the NFL right now, increasing weight training while decreasing allowed contact and far more guys doing PED’s leads to breakdown of technique which long term damages consistency.

michael jordan He’s talking about the style of play, and the level of depth in the league. There were quite a few elite scorers but defense was fucking atrocious, the offensive play calling was farcical in its simplicity. Fg% was abysmal, apg was at a record low, there was no emphasis on proper mechanics, guys handled the ball like they were on a playground but shot like they were in highschool, it was awful. Kobe, Ben Wallace, Tmac, AI, Shaq, Dirk, Nash were exceptions not the norm. You are just used to watching highlights or don’t remember the full games. Go watch like a 2003 Rockets vs Bucks game its so hideous.
