Not only have many people who have worked here commented on many separate instances in which they were discriminated against. Nobody is scrutinizing his character off of one instance, it's the many detailed accounts given by many different employees. Even if it was one thing that came to light, we should be "smarter" than that and know that if hes done it once hes probably done it multiple times, which he has. Discrimination takes many forms, I'm glad people are taking it upon themselves to try and recognize it.

The intro was such a The Office situation - somebody's doing their job and Michael, who no one called, storms in seeking attention with an inappropriate and hurtful joke. I'm Russian and I know that people also make kvas with rye bread which makes it a bit more similar to beer and much darker. Great work Brad, I was so excited that you made this!

I'm from a country where kvas is not only mass-produced (in a variety of ways and flavours), but is being often made at home, especially in summers -- but I've never seen or heard of beets-based kvas :)
Here it's often made with rye bread and/or grains, sweetened with honey, dried fruit and sugar. Its taste can vary a lot, but most common kinds that you can buy in a store would be carbonated, dark-colored beverages, close in look and taste to dark fragrant beer (but with almost no alcohol in it and noticeably sweeter). Very refreshing, and loved by adults and children alike.

I never thought I'd see the apex of comedy and mastery of the English language four and a half minutes into a cooking video, but here we are, and it is beautiful.
I am Polish and have been growing up with kvass :) As you've noticed - less salt. Also, add fresh, crushed garlic (depending on taste, I love garlic and I add ~5-8 cloves), 3-4 bay leaves, 5-10 allspice berries, a handful of peppercorns, and you can toss some marjoram, but it can be a pain to scoop later on. These are for ~5 litres of water.
Polish, see I knew beet kvass originated somewhere, but couldn't remember to save my life. Learned about it years ago, and now all of a sudden Russians are coming into the thread like they own kvass lol

Most store sold kvas is not that good and is artificially carbonated, look for the ones that are stored at low temperature like milk.

My mother made kvass all the time. One and a half tablespoons of salt and one and a half pound of beets, preferably golden, to a 1 gallon jar...
....although that might have been an Imperial gallon, which is about 750 ml larger than a US gallon...
with cubed ginger, whole peppercorns, and (if she could swing it) either lemon, pineapple, or orange. (These were fairly pricy imports and not always available in beet season on the Canadian prairies. Even now lemons can be stupid expensive here; back then they weren’t even available most of the year.)

Ever consider making Mead? It's a fairly easy wine, just requires about 2 parts water to 1 part honey and some yeast, brew for a month, and bam, Mead. There are a lot of recipes out there for adding more flavor, and I'd be interested in seeing some more.

I came across Claire’s videos about making gourmet snacks, and then I saw Brad and I really liked him, his character, and I’m shocked by those kinda offensive comments that’ve been shown in the video.

i'm russian and i've never seen kvas with beets))) ever)) it's made with bread, sometimes my babushka added any kind of jam for flavor, but it's not traditional. kvas tipically tastes a bit like beer, but less bitter and more sour homemade / more sweet storebought. I love kvas, it's super refreshing in summer

This kvass is used for barshch soup we made it in Poland for it not realy drinking but well you can ;3

Curious: where in russia do you live? Because my grandmothers ancestors came from eastern europe (i dont know where exactly though, only that they speak russian there) and she made that in the past, since their family went to live in germany around the 1900s i never bothered to learn where we came from xD and since my mother didnt learn russian fluently i never learned it either so cant exactly find out via diarys and such

He might have been making like a wierd spin off on borscht but we don’t add any sumac or stuff like that. So I’m kind of confused on how he made this recipe up.
