Sunny Days 2.0 When she went around and hugged everyone I lost it. Then during the prayer she was holding Tim. It made me miss my dad.

Dad encouraging his daughter when she's feeling awful about her schoolwork being not as great as she'd like. #1: Dad broke it down: everyone progresses different academically; own it, and request help in your weak subjects; don't allow your disappointment to determine your self-esteem, for each person progresses differently academically; it doesn't say you're stupid or worthless if you struggle with English or Maths; it matters that you recognize it, and let others who have English skills help you to do the best you can.

She is so courageous. This has brought tears to me. I didn't learn to read properly until I was 13. I found out at the age of 23 that I have dyslexia and learning disability. God sent people to help me relearn and improve my study's today and am a writer. And I love to read. With Jesus all things are possible. Happy birthday

My daughter is blessed with the gift of dyslexia. She really couldn't read until she was 10. She has so intelligent and well spoken when she was young, just like you. She still reads slowly to this day, but her comprehension is stellar. Our gifts present themselves at different times and in different ways.

Hosanna, I had a little trouble learning to read too, but later in life became a reading teacher. You will learn the sounds of letters and will memorize words by sight, but I would like to suggest the language experience approach. You draw a picture of a recent experience: a fun place you recently went to, for example. Then you tell mom, dad or Heze what is happening in your picture. They write out your story on lined writing paper in a notebook.
Then together you pick out new words from the story and write each of those words on little cards. The word cards can fit alphabetically into handmade envelopes or “slots” in the back of the notebook. You practice reading your story and take each word out of the envelopes to pronounce. This is one fun way to develop a vocabulary and learn to read: creating your own stories. Here’s more info on Language Experience. Btw, I was also a tap dancer, cheerleader and loved to bake! I learned from an English baker when I was in my 20’s. Cheers!
Ella, In addition to Language Experience as one reading method that can be an effective supplement to a reading program, I believe that children need to learn the sight and sound system of their language. Happy Birthday, Hosanna! You are such an amazing young lady! Don't you worry about being able to read perfectly at your age! Your daddy said it right, some things just take a little extra time. Make it a game where you pick up an easy book to read to Rue or Harper and practice every day. Practice makes perfect and you will be perfect at reading in no time! There is also a website I had my two girls practice reading (Starfall) It lets you read a book and if there is a word that you can't say, you click on it and it will sound it out for you. You will learn how to before you know it. Not being able to read at just 7 years old is actually very common throughout the world.
