    24:23.
I am not surprised by this one bit. I had a 2017 Ecoboost F-150 that had 35's on it and a 3.31 rear end and the mpg was even worse than what you are getting. It got in a wreck and totalled out so I went with a 2021 Tundra TRD Pro, and put 35's on it too.
BUT, with that 4.30 rear I get much better mpg than the Ford. The Ford was 11 mpg city and 15 highway, while my Tundera is 13 city and 16-16.5 highway.
Towing is even worse. The Ford got 8 mpg with my 7200 lb camping trailer while the Tundra gets 10.5-11 all day.
To be honest, I've watched enough videos now on the 2022 Tundra that I thank my lucky stars I didn't wait and got the 2021.

Very impressed with transformation sir, excellent. Since learning about Heritic Studios from your video's, I added ditch lights to my PW, waiting for their new 6" round. Actually texted me photos of the prototype housings. Adding rear lighting as well. Then comes the Jeep 😁. Changing your grill/removing the chrome made a dramatic difference, WAY better.

Be sure to check your speed and distance with GPS with oversize tires. A larger circumference tires rolls a longer distance per revolution. I went from 30" tires to 33" tires on my 4Runner and when the speedometer reads 70 mph, I'm actually going a little over 74 mph. The odometer is off by about 6 miles less per 100 miles traveled, ( when ODO reads 94 miles traveled I've really actually traveled about 100 miles). This will give you more acurate MPG calculations.

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  Před 2 lety

I went from a 32.5 to a 35, which I think would actually put me closer to 15-16mpg after adjusting for inaccuracies

I have those exact tires on my f150. Got a crazy deal on them $600. Installed them in December Mpg dropped from 22 highway to 18/19. Will be going with a Hankook at3 or a Pirelli all season to get back lost fuel economy. I have an extra set of Hauler rims. Fuel prices in Canada are crazy right now. $250 from empty and I rarely go off road so no need for dirt/ rock tires.

Our Land Cruiser has served us well but look forward to having more space and better road manners for long hauls on pavement. Watching all your videos now to see what works and what does not. I do love those totes from HD. Has been really helpful when I was just in my 4runner and struggling with space/organization. I’m about to finalize grabbing a Boreas XT which changes my storage/RTT situation - tent is going on the XT for my boys, and allows for more of my dogs coming along when it’s a single vehicle excursion. I’m keeping the totes as well. Works great for dry food goods that you don’t want crushed etc as well.

Thanks for the Method 20% off link. Got my coupon code. I'm going with the 705's as well. Soon as they come back in stock for a Super Duty. Good luck with the Open Country AT III's. I had 35x12.5 R18 on my F150 last year and could not get them to balance. Had two bad tires replaced and still a vibration at higher speeds. Change to AT III's in a slightly narrower size and still had issues. Now have a 2021 F350 Platinum with the Tremor package and 6.7L diesel. Carrying my RTT on the bed cover with gear in bed and back seat, I still get 22-23mpg on the highway! Loves my diesel.....

You could see if anyone is selling tundra trd pro fox shocks and run that with the Westcott kit. I did this with my tacoma trd off-road for a temporary upgrade from the bilstein skinnies until I go to full reservoirs. It's a long wait for anything right now. I picked up the tacoma trd pro fox shocks from a guy getting kings for $800, then added the Westcott preload spring cup only to help with my skid plate weight. It's a good upgrade, better ride, and a lot stronger shock for off-road than factory shocks.

Replace the mattress with self-inflating, fold one blanket and place flat over the mattresses, then place any other bedding in the corner of the tent(the thickest part of the tent)
I was able to fit (without forcing) two expeds, two down blankets, and two pillows in my 2.0. it’s takes time to figure out exactly how to make it all fit, but worth it. Especially if you use a heater, you won’t need as much bedding.

Should have done a spacer lift, doesn't affect the spring harshness... and you can add bump stop spacers to prevent that "fuse" from exploding. It also moves your travel zone downwards so yeah you have a less up travel vs preload, but you get more down travel and you aren't likely to rub as much since the wheel won't tuck up in more. So long as the CV angle isn't bad, it's really a decent method.

Sweet! Your Tundra is looking even better than before. But if it was me, I'd avoid putting heavy items on top of the roof rack to keep the centre of gravity low. And I'm surprised you only went for a collar lift instead of a proper suspesion lift (even if just the springs and shocks).

Interesting comments about the Westcott Design Lift. Seem fair, but I would be interested if they agree. That said the factory lift Toyota announced earlier comes out soon and they detailed the parts components and specs, etc. I know you haven’t test that yet, but do you have any expectations related to capabilities, limitation, any obvious short comings outside of price? Mostly how rugged is it; I mean you probably don’t want to go full Tacoma with a big truck like that…but seems it could get you to some good fishing and hunting areas safely with confidence. Note: hope you fit an Alu Cabin on your Tundra after testing this equipment.

Both side windows of my iKamper skycamp mini were broken after opening the tent after the winter. (Less than a year old)
The straps for closing the tent are causing this damage. After doing some research in the overland/youtube community I found out that this seems to be a known issue and that iKamper would cover this, despite iKamper stating:
"This is definitely NOT a common issue that happens with our tents or I'm sure there would be a lot more posts and videos of this happening across social media...but it definitely happened to you and we will make that right. ...
What we have done in previous situations (??? so it did happen to other customers or not ??? - this is nonsense what they are writing there) like this is we will completely replace both the tent skin itself as well as the rainfly with a brand new one. Because this really is not a common case and we have replaced them in the past(???), people that have had them replaced have not had an issue of the new skin doing the same thin. ..."
iKamper didn't want to talk to me directly in the beginning and made me go through the dealership.
I got the above mentioned message and a direct contact to iKamper not earlier after mentioning a lawyer. It might have worked without doing that but the communication was slow.
My problem which I have with this situation and iKamper is that they knowingly kept selling the mini to customers.
I got the replacement parts 2 days later but out of this fact I'm considering of letting the tent go. If you know that you're selling a shitty product you've got to fix it no matter what. That's why there's a new mini now.
My posts asking for help also never got published in the iKamper community on FB.
