My mother has some of the last photos of the Twin Towers. We were in New York the weekend before the disaster visiting with family. There’s two photos she has of myself and my sister as children with the World Trade Center in the background. Looking at those photos today is almost eerie to know that by the time those images were developed, the towers were already gone.
Very interesting. Did you ever happen to upload those photos on the internet? Or send them to the museum for display? I know there are still people searching every day for new photos of the WTC before it's demise. Nonetheless very interesting thanks for sharin that.
My grandfather was inside the Windows on the World restaurant at the top of the north tower on the 10th. My grandfather thankfully wasn’t in the towers when the planes hit, but it is scary how close he was to dying.
They were incredible to see. I'm a Brit, but I was lucky enough to visit the Twin Towers on my trip to NY back in 1990. The space in front of the towers was completely open, which made them seem even more imposing as you looked up at them. The fact that you had two towers together also added to the effect especially when you were at the top, as you were basically looking down the outside of the other tower and could see the people working in their offices in that tower.
On September 11th 2001 and for months afterward my brother in law, David Rose, was a search and recovery member at the wreck of the Twin Towers He recalls so many horrific things about that dark day.. Cellphones ringing from the rubble, people flocking to the wrecksite hoping to find their loved ones alive After that time he retired from the US Government and never even collected his pension, he has always said “If you saw what i saw you wouldn’t want their money either, our country isn’t with us.. its working against us”
What amazes me most about 911 is that some people inside the towers had no idea what happened. We know what happened but they died without ever knowing this event took place. 😵💫
They most likely did, word and rumors would have spread fast, they still had access to radios, tv sets and phones which more likely than not, would have made them aware (news, calls, radio) now granted not to the extent to we now know but they would have known.
They probably knew about the plane. Once they saw the other tower get hit, I think they probably figured it was an attack. Maybe in the panic they didn’t have time to think about it. Who knows man. I hope the families have found some semblance of peace all these years later.
The temperature graph is important for context. Imagine what it must have felt like to break out a window in your smoke-filled, broiling office and feeling that 70-degree air. And 8:37 all of those people died. That conference was on the 107th floor of the North Tower. And yeah, the cameraman survived. He left to get another roll of film, and was among the last dozen or so people to leave the upper floors of the North Tower before AA11 hit it.

They were doing amazing that year and would ironically beat the Yankees in the world series later that year. I woke up really excited on 9/11 because I was a huge baseball fan and was proud of my hometown team and my happy day was ruined.

Regarding the last part of the video, the planes definitely broke into hundreds, if not thousands of individual pieces. A lot of them probably got pulverized into dust when the towers collapsed.
A lot of people forget that Hurricane Erin was in the Atlantic off the coast of New York that pulled the toxic smoke away from the main land. This hurricane probably saved many lives from that smoke.
As crazy as this sounds, it could have saved even more lives and prevented the attacks, had it hit NY, maybe it would have delayed the hijackings or it possibly would have completely stopped it, because the hijackers would have had alot of trouble navigating through a hurricane, to hit the towers, I highly doubt they could have did what they did in bad weather

I live in Maryland and I remember it was raining down here on September 10th. About a couple weeks after 9/11, a tornado ripped right through Maryland in the city of College Park.
I quit smoking in march 2001 cold turkey and even thought 9/11/01 happened I never picked up another cigarette. I had to go to work that day and every thing was shut down, kind of eerie like what happened to covid.
That took some amazing guts too. That especially since smoking rates did drastically increase after 9/11 happened also. I'll admit my habit with that did get to be a bit out of control after Hurricane Sandy happened in late 2012, which left my life in a huge, literal mess, and turned it upside down back then as well!
I remember that night before 9/11 vividly, and my memory is pretty damn good to where I can tell u exactly what I was doing, wearing, what I ate etc a year ago today(May 30 2024 when I'm posting this) ..I was staying with my pa and big brother and the night before or actually on 9/11 since it was past midnight but I was 15 and many times I'd go up on the rooftop of my building and think or sometimes chill and around 12:30 am I did exactly that and being into architecture since i was a kid I'd if course watch the skyline, around 1:45 i headed back in having no clue it'd be the last night I'd ever see The Twins which despite being not being too special as far as their exterior at least, they've been some of my all time favorite buildings, I'm talking top 10 for me since I was like 5 years old and as much as I really do love the new tower I don't think it'd ever top the twins though it's exterior is no question more unique than the twins...that morning i was getting ready for school when my dad walked in from work and asked me if i heard about the WTC, i turned the TV on and about 1 min later I ran up to the roof about 2 min before the second plane hit, I saw it coming and shrugged it off for a second thinkin it must be heading to La Guardia but about 15 seconds it was clear to me it wasn't heading to any airport and seeing it hit the south tower is one of my rare moments where I literally couldn't believe what was happening, I was no bullshit asking my dad to slap the shit outta and I was doing what I've done in some of my nightmares where i realize it's a nightmare so I actively try to end it and wake up, that's how I felt and when the south tower was hit and again when it collapsed.. sometimes it feels like people are forgetting that day or seeing it less serious than they should, it really a trip it's been almost 23 years now and there's literally no way I could ever forget that day, I remember reading that Limp Bizkit received a letter thanking them for shooting part of Rollin'... on the roof, less then a day later it was gone, Lebron passing Kobe's and taking 3rd place in Points and less than a day later, Kobe was gone, it's a major trip home quickly it could all be over
It's eerie how many photos there are of the towers hours or even minutes before their demise. Just seeing the plane that would eventually hit the Pentagon is haunting but interesting. I'm no conspiracy theorist but it's as if people knew the towers were gonna get attacked in some way so they snapped as many photos as possible before it happens.
what is crazy is that these are one of the lasts photos before the towers got hit, and the time when they took the pictures are about the time when they hijack it.
The world before 9/11 seemed idyllic and peaceful. That all died that day. I can't help but grieve for all the people whose last evening that was. There is some small mercy in not knowing how we will die. Still unbelievably heartbreaking almost 23 years later.
There's a video out there from some construction workers who were working at the airport recording one of the planes during its taxi and takeoff literally as it was taking off minutes before impact
It's because they're gone. Before 9/11, they were iconic but weren't that highly regarded in any way for their aesthetics. To many, they were monolithic boxes, indicative of the late 1960's. And in Manhattan, there was an overabundance of architectural marvels that were far more interesting to look at.
I’d like to see you do a video on September 12! The day after 911 i turned 6 that day and think a lot of people would like to see the aftermath and clean up part of it
I couldn’t believe they cleaned up that site in eight months. I thought they’d be down there five years. They were but they had all the aftermath cleaned up very quickly.
@@jpmnky They sure did an amazing job with that I'll admit. It was kind of like when they managed to somehow clean up, and get the Louisiana Superdome to be fully operational for the 2006 NFL season after Hurricane Katrina in order to assure that the Saints would be able to come back home just in the nick of time. That being when the city needed them the most in order to help begin their long, painful healing process too.
3:31 That might be from EWR airport in Newark The only time I saw the WTC Twin Towers was April 28, 2001. I was at Newark Airport on a layover waiting to go to Frankfurt for a tour of duty in Germany. You could see the skyline with the distinctive towers. I wanted to check them out at some point and I'm glad I at least saw them once.
I always thought they were such a statement of American strength. If they only had built one it would have been the tallest building in the world but they made 2 of them right next to each other. That’s such a bold statement, along with their boxy design it was just different. It’s sad to me that they aren’t a part of the NYC skyline anymore. It’s even more sad that all those lives were lost.
I kinda feel that that the towers and the planes were alive! They were alive with life anyway! The fact that the pentagon only had that one camera is hard to believe!
Picture at 7:44 is not a plan for New York, but Seoul. I know you didn't say it was for NY, but might confuse someone who watches your video at the moment. It confused me as well, then I got it
I know there's a photo out that was taken at about a quarter to nine that showed the towers intact but the tip of the wing of American Airlines Flight 11 is visible just before the plane goes into the building.
I was also finding it weird that in those skyscrapers lights stay on overnight… But then I watched some documentary about WTC’s nightlife that basically said as soon as all those financial/business executives & their employees had finished working & were getting back home, hundreds or thousands of other "little hands" were starting their shift as cleaning ladies/janitors. So people that happened to walk by the WTC complex at night could hear some catchy, upbeat Latino music playing from both buildings… Indeed, the majority of those workers were from South American countries, mainly from Mexico (a huge part being illegal immigrants by the way, which is somehow quite "funny" since many official departments such as customs had offices or even their headquarters in WTC 1 or 2… !!).
It was a gorgeous day that day, just a really nice early fall day, and blue sky, I think almost no clouds all day. I'm about 3 hours drive from NYC, down in MD. I was living in the country then, and the septic tank was being pumped out LOL. It was also amazing that for like a week or whatever, there were no planes other than some military ones, and no helicopters. It was so quiet and nice. Normally planes flew over many times a day, and a helicopter daily. So annoying being out in the country and air traffic so often, but then hearing the loudest sit down mowers ever made, every day almost in summer was also annoying!
On that day I was getting my school pictures taken and on 9/11 I was in the cafeteria during breakfasts when I heard about the attacks I was 17 and a senior that year.
What i don't understand is how was there only one camera that caught the plane hitting the Pentagon. The Pentagon is one of the most secure places in the world so why wasnt there more security cameras to catch different angles.
When it comes to the sun New York is normal, and Ohio is abnormal. The control meridian for Eastern Time Zone (75 deg, W) is in Philadelphia. Therefore Philadelphia is where sundials actually give the correct time when daylight savings is not in effect. In Ohio, sundials are about 40 minutes behind in winter, and 1 hour and 40 minutes behind in summer.
Me and my parents went to Chicago for Xmas one year in the late 80's. We stayed at a motel not too far from South Bend IN where it becomes central time. It stayed light for an eerie amount of time for that time of year, as we were in the eastern zone, and used to that 1 hour difference as well. To have the sun set at like 6pm instead of 4:46 or whatever. I dunno, I just remember it as interesting, which is why I remember it!
I watched my football team the Giants get beaten up by the Denver Broncos that night! That of which would obviously soon end up being the least of our concerns the very next morning too!
i'm totally against conspiracies but i never understood how the most secure building in america has no camera recordings of the incident. only that one crappy piece of footage
Don't you find it weird/strange for a place like the pentagon not to have tons of cameras and better security footage. OR maybe they do. But very very strange
they need to rebuild the same buildings in the same place. the new world trade center is a mess of random buildings that don't go together in a strange layout.
Just not in Same Exact place at least, Pls Look up ‘Skyscraper City Forum’ and WTC Replanning or Reconstruction ideas !! This guy called Noodle DangerDoodle ? Has the NEW Twins North East of the OG Footprints !
Kind of yeah, as the new W.T.C. doesn't exactly stand out, but more rather blends in with what's next to it. While it does have a nice, sleek, modern day feel to it, the bottom line is that it'll never be nowhere near as iconic as the Twin Towers were. That being even if I can perhaps maybe understand why building them almost exactly the way they were might not have been the best option for that matter either. While you technically could have replaced the buildings (to an extent at least), you obviously couldn't replace the many lives which were tragically lost that fateful day though.
I had the idea of tearing down the modern-day 3 and 4 WTC and building new revised twin towers in their place. (I left One WTC and the Oculus in because I actually have a soft spot for them, and three towers dominating the skyline together would look so cool with how I arranged them, the towers standing in front of the pools and retaining the diagonal arrangement, there are some angles where OWTC is blocked from view if you’re a salty purist)
So basically a middle finger to 9/11 families and survivors. Also they won’t rebuild them because theres new buildings. And why rebuild a building from the 60s decades later. That alone is a stupid idea.
4:50 A rocket doesn't tear/clip numerous light poles. I just always found it odd they didn't show us any footage... it's the Pentagon... Never seen that AA11 debris photo. I'll admit my habit with that did get to be a bit out of control after Hurricane Sandy happened in late 2012, which left my life in a huge, literal mess, and turned it upside down back then as well!
Thank you for sharing
Kidding. Stay strong man. You can be proud. I'm still stuck with them
09/10/1990 is my birthday. Interest was quickly lost after I turned 11 that day lol
I remember that night before 9/11 vividly, and my memory is pretty damn good to where I can tell u exactly what I was doing, wearing, what I ate etc a year ago today(May 30 2024 when I'm posting this) ..I was staying with my pa and big brother and the night before or actually on 9/11 since it was past midnight but I was 15 and many times I'd go up on the rooftop of my building and think or sometimes chill and around 12:30 am I did exactly that and being into architecture since i was a kid I'd if course watch the skyline, around 1:45 i headed back in having no clue it'd be the last night I'd ever see The Twins which despite being not being too special as far as their exterior at least, they've been some of my all time favorite buildings, I'm talking top 10 for me since I was like 5 years old and as much as I really do love the new tower I don't think it'd ever top the twins though it's exterior is no question more unique than the twins...that morning i was getting ready for school when my dad walked in from work and asked me if i heard about the WTC, i turned the TV on and about 1 min later I ran up to the roof about 2 min before the second plane hit, I saw it coming and shrugged it off for a second thinkin it must be heading to La Guardia but about 15 seconds it was clear to me it wasn't heading to any airport and seeing it hit the south tower is one of my rare moments where I literally couldn't believe what was happening, I was no bullshit asking my dad to slap the shit outta and I was doing what I've done in some of my nightmares where i realize it's a nightmare so I actively try to end it and wake up, that's how I felt and when the south tower was hit and again when it collapsed.. sometimes it feels like people are forgetting that day or seeing it less serious than they should, it really a trip it's been almost 23 years now and there's literally no way I could ever forget that day, I remember reading that Limp Bizkit received a letter thanking them for shooting part of Rollin'... on the roof, less then a day later it was gone, Lebron passing Kobe's and taking 3rd place in Points and less than a day later, Kobe was gone, it's a major trip home quickly it could all be over
Glad I found you, Depressed Ginger. I still miss the Twin Towers. I always will. Not the same since.
The government literally knew about the attacks years ahead of time they knew actually from the first attacks on WTC in the early 90s
what is crazy is that these are one of the lasts photos before the towers got hit, and the time when they took the pictures are about the time when they hijack it.
The world before 9/11 seemed idyllic and peaceful. That all died that day.
I can't help but grieve for all the people whose last evening that was. There is some small mercy in not knowing how we will die.
Still unbelievably heartbreaking almost 23 years later.
There's a video out there from some construction workers who were working at the airport recording one of the planes during its taxi and takeoff literally as it was taking off minutes before impact
is it just me or do the towers seem more appealing as time goes on? Especially at night?
Now I think about it they do
With how generic skyscrapers are becoming, they definitely are.
3:31 That might be from EWR airport in Newark
The only time I saw the WTC Twin Towers was April 28, 2001. I was at Newark Airport on a layover waiting to go to Frankfurt for a tour of duty in Germany. You could see the skyline with the distinctive towers. I wanted to check them out at some point and I'm glad I at least saw them once.
The idea that someone was going to design the new ones that literally looked like an explosion
You hear the pain in his voice which is sad af R.I.P Twin towers and 3000 other people
5:30 exactly 10 minutes before all hell broke out :_(
I always thought they were such a statement of American strength. If they only had built one it would have been the tallest building in the world but they made 2 of them right next to each other. That’s such a bold statement, along with their boxy design it was just different. It’s sad to me that they aren’t a part of the NYC skyline anymore. It’s even more sad that all those lives were lost.
Then, when they went down the PC Police went rampant...
I wish i could remember September 10th. I’ll never forget the following day though.
Love the 911 vids, including the what-ifs
Do a videe about what happened to Titanic's First Class Reading and Writing Room
I kinda feel that that the towers and the planes were alive! They were alive with life anyway!
The fact that the pentagon only had that one camera is hard to believe!
Make a video with the images mentioned (looking down the plaza), made from inside the buildings right after being hit. I couldn't find any. Thanks!
Picture at 7:44 is not a plan for New York, but Seoul. I know you didn't say it was for NY, but might confuse someone who watches your video at the moment. It confused me as well, then I got it
Can u give link fort the lobby of south tower on September 10 I saw it but then tried to find it
September 10, 2001 was the last innocent day in American history! What do y'all think?! #JustCurious
Just like the 3rd week in March of 2020 when all fake hell broke loose.. over a cold
Innocent? No.
Its beyond belief and i live close by
I know there's a photo out that was taken at about a quarter to nine that showed the towers intact but the tip of the wing of American Airlines Flight 11 is visible just before the plane goes into the building.
At 2:34 its interesting that most of the lights are on in the north tower around the floors that would be hit
No sheet! Shocked
Dla mnie były dwa światy. Przed 9/11 i po 9/11.
Is that photo in the beginning taken from new jersey?
I heard someone talk about a photo that morning of the sun rising between them but was never able to find it anyone have any idea?
Do you have a picture of windows of the world on the day of September 11 2001
If they found the black boxes for the plane at the pentagon then how is it a rocket??
So annoying being out in the country and air traffic so often, but then hearing the loudest sit down mowers ever made, every day almost in summer was also annoying!
it wasn’t fall yet
@@peteroni21 ok, if you want to be aspie technical it wasn't, as it wasn't the equinox yet lol. 10 days away! Not a big deal lol.
That sunrise was heartbreakingly beautiful . Also that Ironically beautiful dark blue sky.
There was supposed to be a hurricane lol
On that day I was getting my school pictures taken and on 9/11 I was in the cafeteria during breakfasts when I heard about the attacks I was 17 and a senior that year.
Weird, I was taking my school picture that day too. I was in 7th grade.
@@MaggieCandy999 I was in 12th grade as a senior in high school at the time.
There has to be more footage of flight 11 crashing into the north tower.
3:54 i dont get this photo? i thought it was unusual for planes to fly over new york?
I miss September 10th, 2001. I had just turned 8 the previous week
You're old haha.
@@gtvx03 I had turned 39 the previous week. So I must be positively ancient. In fact, how can I still be alive?
@@lisaa8795 older is better 🫢😉
When you see clear blue skies it is usually a bad sign
3:52 Thats incredible, not even two hours laters. Hell brakes loose. That moment makes me cry inside. 😭❤
And so the last time anyone stood on the outdoor observation deck was on Sunday, September 9.
love the 9/11 content is very interesting
Oh wait.I also like titanic and seeing last pictures of the titanic before it's at the bottom of the ocean is the scary
3:26 this photo was actually taken about 45 seconds before the first impact
It's crazy to think if Michael Jackson wasn't performing and the New York Giants weren't playing, 9/11's casualties would've been way worse...
The worst thing is that I was the 911 like. What a coincidence. This day seemed so sad
What's your point?? Also, what are the asterisks for?
I saw a documentary that had footage of the day before with that stage in it being used on Nat geo
i dont remember that day at all before that even though i was 14 at the time
This is just sad. It’s ridiculous how the rules at the airport was before it changed
There was a video someone took of being on the roof on 9/10 I think it's gone though can't find it
I hope that person wasn’t in the towers the next day on 9/11.
There was a hurricane in NYC on the 10th which mysteriously cleared up, they used HARP to clear it up in preparation for the next day
It didnt clear up, it was still in the ocean
Dr judy wood video footages shows the building evaporates rather than collapsing.

@@TDH8988Wow buddy, is there any need to be such a dick for no reason?
I watched my football team the Giants get beaten up by the Denver Broncos that night! That of which would obviously soon end up being the least of our concerns the very next morning too!
9/10 the final hours was the best documentary about the day before 9/11
Sad day in America
It really was and I’m getting sad all over again watching this.
4:36 That plane then was lost because NIST gave the flight path of that plane hitting the pentagon.
The Pentagon security camera recorded one frame per second, and it was impossible to tell what hit the building.
and why picture's only from one camera there?
@@TDH8988we didn’t exactly have cameras everywhere in 2001
@@aaronscarpa7469Well the Pentagon should have, because it's only the Pentagon, crazy they didn't have more angles of it.
i'm totally against conspiracies but i never understood how the most secure building in america has no camera recordings of the incident. only that one crappy piece of footage
Don't you find it weird/strange for a place like the pentagon not to have tons of cameras and better security footage. OR maybe they do. But very very strange
Did they ever find the airplane black box?
What is a black box?
they need to rebuild the same buildings in the same place. the new world trade center is a mess of random buildings that don't go together in a strange layout.
Just not in Same Exact place at least, Pls
Look up ‘Skyscraper City Forum’ and WTC Replanning or Reconstruction ideas !!
Too late
I remember Big Brother Season 2 had just started and the production showed the housemates newspapers and some footage since it was such a bizarre time and wanted to inform them. Some of housemates just didn't believe it... they thought it was a cruel joke.
You a Brit?
I was watching Monday night football the night before 9-11.
very sad
I thought this video, was supposed to be about. The day before the disaster.
Charles Ingram cheated his way to £1 million on the UK version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire on this day.
It’s a plane! The plane parts and jet fuel found in the building is probably a little hint….
9/11 we were suppose to get a hurricane
i wish some one they stop them.
9:13 Bugs Bunny.
There were more Looney Tunes figures in the mall.
I found a video of 1999 on youtube where you can see all of them.
That was from the Warner Bros store they had in the mall in one of the WTC
