If Frankie Knuckles RIP was DJing right along with Larry Levan here in N.Y. in paradise garage then house got its start in NY or am I mistaken. However we didnt call it house but club music as it was the only place you could here this brand of music.
Frankie knuckles didn't even know what the term house music until he moved to Chicago .... frankie was playing more disco than anything 9min tracks on one song .... that's not house ......as far as larry levan ... nobody even ever heard of him in chicago....chip e, vince Lawrence and farley...... and ron hardy who in my mind is the godfather of house music......... ron was on drugs so bad back then .... that left ample room for Frankie to market and promote hisself as the founder of house music.... give me a BREAK
